Illinois is going to die soon

Actually I have seen zero posts on tumblr about the crisis in Illinois. Illinois has not had a state budget in over two years. You read that correctly. Our governor, Bruce Rauner, is doing fuckall for this state. He won’t approve a budget, and the ones he comes up with suck so the state senate won’t approve them. The GOP and Democrats are locked in a battle over this. Schools are closing. A lot of schools won’t open this fall. The second largest school district in the state won’t open. it’s also worth mentioning on this post itself (it’s in the source) that roughly $251,000,000,000, a number i probably don’t have to tell you is really fucking big, is promised in public employee pensions. obviously illinois will not be able to pay this out, which will leave a shitload of retirees incredibly fucked over, or forced to continue working into old(er) age in order to provide for themselves and their families
