heyyy… so uhh, I had this in drafts FOREVER cause editing my bad writing is long and boring so I gave up and I’m posting this and the writing will be a bit bad BUT, there is good information I think also I don’t really care for this project so don’t expect anything new form it but if there’s anything you get form this, don’t crush your creativity follow your ideas cause it’ll make great artwork…that and it’s actually good for your brain so that too

hiii, my angels, it’s me, call me Memers, and today we’re gonna be looking at a character I just designed, this will be like a casual walk through but if you don’t have time just scroll until you see a lot of ✨emojis and if you wanna get to the characters design steps so look out for 🥀 emojis

but for those who are staying the under 5 or so minutes welcome, I’m very happy to have you!

so first of all, lately I’ve been trying to draw one big piece a week and this week…I had nothing, but lately I’ve just had this idea stuck in my head, first it was gods but their what they represent so like the sea god is…water, I know weird... But the thing was depending on how you liked or dislike the god you’d get powers! So if you swim a lot powers! If you…don’t? cursed. And there were also…emotional gods? And they lived in your hearts…CRINGE

but then I removed the gods being what they represent and tried just being like “ok this world will be to make pretty outfits” which you can see is DULL and a very good set up…for very bad characters but I did do one good think in this stage and that is decide to take character design inspiration form cookie run kingdom which despite be not being in the fandom…I now know a bit much about pure villain and shadow milk for someone who stopped playing in the…7th chapter? Of the signal player mode.

but this concept just didn’t feel right for me! And most people would drop it but I just COULD NOT I lived in my mind rant FREE while also annoying me to no end with the lack of progress but…remember those emotional gods? Well I was watching a catra character analysis vid also, THEIR REMOVING SHE-RA ON THE 21TH NOOOOOOO-

but back on topic, as that was happening I was making some…portraits of random characters, not ocs just yknow when you draw someone who you know is nothing more then this, those types of characters but then I thought about who I was drawing they were a god of darkness, and I thought “the god of darkness is like denial and ignorance and naivety and despite them being bad…it feels so good to hide or lie away parts of yourself you don’t like”and-wait….give me a moment

Ok sorry I had a pimple, but as I was saying, I had this big thought so I came back to the world to think about it properly one last time and I came up with it… (I can’t turn on a stage light so your gonna have to make do with emojis)

💡 “rather you think of gods as strength or weakness, wisdom or stupidity they are all outer representations of persons life, the sky’s even changing represent the full human life as well as their feelings, form sunny days to stormy sky’s and deadly strikes of thunder, the clouds in the sky always move good or bad, like life, good or bad, and ending in peaceful sleep or bloody wounds, it still moves, on and on, with each and every new one.

the sea represents family and community, form supportive coral reefs to predator prey relationships theirs dozens of bonds between person and person and you only have so much control…

then theirs fire, or passion, you can start it, force where it goes or let it burn free, moving where it wants too, rain can burn it out, but it’s not just the fire that’s special but the outcome, it can be destructive leaving nothing but rage in its trail or constructive making works that without would never exist or a mix of both

and lastly the two gods that can’t exist without each other light and dark, light is all the truths in the world, but truth is not gently, it is mean, and cruel and devastating, their is no sugar coating the full and whole unbiased truth, so…that’s why the dark exist as a comfort to blind you form what hurts, to numb the truth to hide the truth to ignore the truth…neither one is evil but neither or is pure either, so they live in a balancing act how much is too honest? How much can you twist words until they become lies?…” 💡

and that’s basically my idea that gods represent a persons life but you might be wondering, where is the god of the land? Sky, sea but not land, well people are the rulers of the land, they control it, but they can’t control their own life’s, not fully at least it’s a combination of people and experiences and how they react to those people and experiences good or bad, but also in a now metaphorical sense how they act with the gods : feelings, community, passion, truths and lies,

and with all of them, it creates a power for every person, that changes and grows with you as you do, not physically but mentally….

so…your personal psychology is…magic…

I know weird concept but with the simple rule I put down of, dull or calm personality or feelings weak power and strong personality or feelings strong power, that gives so much potential for really good characters, no more strong character who’s who’s confident and smug as their whole personality, now people like that have average level magic and if you wanna be strong you better be passionate to love and be good and help people and just bring happiness to life like everyday is the last…or be messed up BAD to be super powerful

which leads us to our character! Her names Hoya cause she’s based off of heart leaf hoya but we’ll learn about this is just a tiny bit!

so first of all she’s not a important character (for now) I don’t like jumping head first into main character it’s PRESSURE when I know I’m making them so instead she’s more of just a side character

so make her I used a emotion wheel, their are a bunch but the one that I’ve always used to look at emotions which I do for some reason is this pretty one

You can see why I like looking at it it’s beautiful also cut cause it includes love! Awww! so I made a wheel of the 6 feeling bases and I got love

next I made a wheel for the 1st and closest to the base row and the 2nd I got 1st row

then form top to bottom I spun one last time for emotion I got affectionate

then I went to a theme spinner I got nature, I looked up “plants that mean affection and I picked the first thing that came up and very interesting I got the heart leaf Hoya which I’ve never heard of before but it’s a plant that has heart shaped leaves and very interesting flowers, I made a small board to use for reference and here it is

Very interesting plant huh? But I picked out some colors form the plant and it’s flowers and I sketched out some blob people which you can see on the side, your characters base shapes is what makes them, if your character looks like a actual blob…I hope their a blob cause if not that’s….bad….bad bad, also it’s good for working out a base design, my first one was she had big pants….absolutely not, my nest one was she had a dress and pants and much calmer hair, so I picked that one

And form their I moved on to a proper line design

Writing! This may and will have spelling mistakes sorry! But now Rhys I blew the concept you can see theirs yellow outlines on it, why? Well those are her key shapes! Upside down heart for the heart leafs and 3 circles as a simple version of the flowers, and as you can see her flowers are…big and as I said I’m taking inspiration form CRK which uses characters with big usually small thing on them…well their still small they just look big for cookies, so as for why I’m doing it… rule of cool! I felt a bit…not embarrassed but like “people are gonna not like this” but forget people I like this!

so for the line one I changed up the hair, it was just doing to much for me, I wanted to add in the thin long vines but in this they ended up to thick to be vines but if I braided it which I tried to draw it as those, they lost their vine also for a normal level of magic person, it’s doing to much so instead I made her have the 5 flower buns and two leaf shapes on her head, I also added a little bag clipped on with a clip that shows what the flowers look like form the front, I will admit a random star in the middle of a bunch of non star shapes is random BUT in the context of the fake that if you literally just turned her around to her side she’d have six more of these star shapes, it works so…Usually you’d draw more characters but listen… I’m no professional character designer! And this isn’t her final design I just…listen if it was between me just drawing it the first time and finishing her OR the hours of working up to her design following one main design which would be closer to the proper way of designing a few different characters? What I’m doing. So next we color.

BOOM, she’s adorable I know.. so my first design was really…lacking in character, in the previous step I came up with more character like I decided she was a child she her hair style with six buns and the cute heart hair was very childish but even a child has character so in the 2nd one I put her in apron and decided she cooked and served food for people at a family shop for people in need, and her little bag which gained a lighter out inter dark designs inspired by some of the leafs, if full of supplies she uses when she goes out with the intent on people anything that needs her help, so…theirs a lot of animals with bandaids in this community

as well as giving her a story you might of noticed her hair changed a lot well that’s because of a very helpful artist I was watching as I made her, they were a character design teacher reacting and rating some of the characters with a rubric, which is what made me know, these were gonna be good reviews and they were not opinionated on what’s silly or stupid or childish at all, and I’m very happy I picked CRK cause they said they rated genshin impact characters 3s and 5s….💀💀💀💀💀💀 but I’m not ever surprised they are kinda…to much, but this cookies were getting good grades form 6.5 to 9.5 and the lower ones were form older cookies which I’m not taking inspiration form but the newer ones, and off topic but I didn’t realize I join the community EARLY like when I joined a few weeks or months later they did the BTS update and I heard that that was done in 2022…. HUH?! This game is 5 years old! I was here when they were a YEAR OLD!?!

but going on topic, they mentioned how sometimes when zoomed out faces bland into everything including hair, so I zoomed out, and her face and hair blended in so I picked another red form the flower and I got such a bright red, but I didn’t really like it so I made it and the whole design a bit pinker and that’s her colors next her final sketch and a tease of her final design in the form of her silhouette

All I really did was change the style, bring in the details and remove the flower details in her dress which is a good thing for her power and here’s her silhouette it’s a bit…bad but that’s why she’s not our main so that way I can build upon her design with other characters but it’s not all bad, if she were with out characters you could tell her form her simple sharp legs, her big dress and interesting hair, but the posing doesn’t really show anything, it’s not clear but here’s the final design

BOOM, she doesn’t look like much of a child, she more of a teen who’s just still got a pure sweet innocence for life, I like the style, it’s weird but cool and the rendering is nice, I was gonna do more but this is enough I’m happy with it, she looks adorable

but as you might of noticed, her hair is…flowers? Well her power which I will admit I didn’t know until the middle of writing this, cause well…I had no idea what the magic would actually look like… but her magic is her flowers which admit a sweet smell that gives people people a taste of her endless hope to help those around and inspire them to do the same

it’s a simple power but she’s a simple character but a important one cause form her know I know how to go about those who follow, a feeling, a theme, something form said them, and a power based on the theme and emotion

hihi! so for YEARS I’ve loved historical fashion mainly the 19th century and I’ve finally started actually looking into it not just watching people talk about it and I watched a video on every decade of the fashion and drew a basic outfit for each one, and from there and using actually reference form the time I drew this! she’s a vampire cause I thought 19th century + vampire would be so fun! But anyway I think I did a good job at making it period accurate I was going for 1880s

we all know what a liar is it’s someone who tells lies like, “the sky is brown” or “cat aren’t better then dogs” or “I had my cake and ate it to, I’ve had my fill.” about being done with drawing sonic…

It’s following me. It’s in YouTube when I haven’t even looked up sonic, it’s when I’m looking at art that has nothing to do with sonic but somehow he’s there, it’s in my new traditional art supplies having a color that looks just like sonics canon “skin” tone ITS EVERYWHERE ITS EVEN IN MY BRAIN!

….so as for the design I drew this yesterday…yes I lied to you guys immediately after posting my first and “last” time drawing sonic

but basically I noticed apparently people headcanon sonic as trans, and oddly enough depending on where you look he’s either VERY transfem or VERY transmasc I understand transmasc better (like I find it more relatable I guess?) and lucky for me tumblr is on my side with that one!

but for sonic to be trans that means that when he was kid he being born a girl wore clothes and when he transitioned he….dropped all his clothes….

absolutely not. so I decided he needed something to wear cause I’m sure if in the real world all men where naked trans men definitely wouldn’t be all that comfortable with just going nude themselves so I thought of what he could wear and instantly a short thin jacket came to me, that and I saw someone saying game sonic with blue arms looks like he’s wearing a jacket, but they didn’t mention what kind so yeah my idea!

I knew I wanted it red cause people LOVE blue with red also it would match his shoes, I tried to make the secondary color green to match his eyes since nothing else is green but them… didn’t look to good so I went with light yellow

I also wanted to give him pants but one it was doing to much and two…his body make it look like he has pants on with is fun! I also put a little logo of his head on his jacket cause it sounded like a cool idea, and I made the white part of his shoes light yellow so his design was less random….

so after that I KNEW I wanted to draw this properly with him doing a post you even see a small cut of doodle of him doing a pose and uhh…

today after having a small food coma I woke up made a new canvas and spent 2 hours and 18 minutes just sitting drawing and listening to a British man talk about his drawings while talking breaks to pet my cat and….

BOOOM! I love it!, you can kinda tell I’m new to drawing sonic or mobians in the first place but i tried by best, I almost forgot his tail and I was gonna add texture to it to make it match but it’s actually super cool all smooth like that

But yeah I really liked drawing this, and uh….

In my last post I mentioned how I read a sonic horror comic and… I really liked it….

And uhh…I things happened.

so I spent yesterday trying to draw sonic….

So the app I use fresco lets you put vector layers and images out of the canvas and gives you a massive shape outside to put them in so I put sonic x sonic and boom sonic as refs ,first I drew the side view cause it seemed easy and it was so I rendered that, I really liked the method of lasso tool and air brush, I didn’t notice but I picked out the wrong brush so it had texture but I kept it cause I really liked it!

but next I drew 3 quarters view….it’s bad, and that’s when I knew I needed a ref but fresco let’s you just drag images into the app so I did that!

than I drew sonic using x sonic as reference which is cute it’s ok, and then I drew a bigger sonic because I didn’t like how cute he was and uh….the one I made using boom sonic is very….ok. Very just …ok

but I decided to do a 3rd and just do whatever but mainly using x as ref and I also used a vector layer cause I knew I’d be loving things around ALOT

I like it! He’s nice! The hands are a bit small for sonic but it’s fine

and yeah that’s it I read a sonic comic, drew sonic 5 times, 3 were good, I even rendered sonic this…is it. I’m done, I had my cake and ate it to, I’ve had my fill.

ok so in my last post I said I did a bench of experiments all in one cause I never feel like a signal one is enough and I didn’t finish that drawing but I wanted to do it again so I did but I only changed the process not the colors (I also rendered the hair a tiny bit)

so here’s how I drew this :lines

colored them dark purple with a coloring layer on top which also went onto the colors

colored with lasso tool and air brush

blurred out the edges

Painted over that and I think it went super well

as for what I drew i basically spent the day looking at sonic and I wanted to draw a Alien cause sonic lore or at least the video I watched said it had aliens in their design and I really liked the design cause basically most aliens in media look slimy and weird and all high tech but the aliens in sonic lore, at least the ancients which are aliens form the very start of plot look very fantastically

my design is not based on them at all but a tiny bit on sonic characters, they have fur all over them cause their animal like so the girl in my drawing is a bit fluffy all over, both the light green and the pink is a layer of fur! And I leaned extra into just animal itself and gave her sheep like ears at the end which I really like, but i followed the process so in the sketch it looks like they were always their

And as for the smaller girl, she’s a doodle I got once I knew I wanted to draw a Alien and where the final drawing got her heart fur the from

and as for why I’m mentioning sonic I saw a horror au of sonic so yeah, the au name is hungryhero

Art experiment!

I never know how to experiment, not in terms that I don’t know how to come up with new ways to draw but more like nothing feels experimental to me everything is just a very normal process like if I paint over flats and lines yes technically that’s “experimental” but many artist do that and I’ve literally done that before but I was seeing some artist who draw with the lasso tool and air brush so I decided to try it out

with dull colors

and rendering the hair

and using multiple on the lines

and using a new program

and actually rendering the clothes (a little bit)

so yeah… I didn’t finish it but it looks pretty good!

also it kinda looks like what one guy form mha but a woman it’s not

philza fanart! Woo! First in a million years, I drew a very cc! Looking Phil… and listen I DONT KNOW IF PHILS IN ANY DRAMA so if 38192939191 years form know something pops off like it has for everyone ever I didn’t know….

but getting into the drawing, I put a v shape in his eye and for two reasons one it’s like the inside of a hardcore heart but connected and two and more importantly it you zoomed in it’s a simplified bird flying away ✨✨✨how pretty

Adobe fresco the app that only has “cool water color brushes” but ok keep sleeping on fresco, meanwhile I just downloaded a free in app brush pack with 455 brushes and the download didn’t crash my very old device also my Phil fanart (which will get its own post btw in case you wanna reblog …just saying) was 6k to 8k and I didn’t even know and the app had barely any lag and when it did it cleared in under a minute but ok keep sleeping on fresco

Ok but actually review, one you gotta have a account to save and get brushes BUT it’s simple even if you don’t use the sign in options provided and you don’t have to verify right off the bat but you do need to verity to move it to other adobe softwares but that’s not important at all really unless you need to use other adobe softwares, also the settings…are kinda bad you change brush size of texture BUT the brushes and especially the downloadable brushes give a range of shapes and texture in just 2 days of using it I no longer care, also they have vector brushes without sign in, they also have a animation feature which can double as a sketchbook and lastly and most importantly most of their brushes ARENT the cool watercolor brushes the app is even known for! This app is perfectly capable of letting you make normal digital paintings without watercolor effects and simple color and line drawings oh and the app is free of purchase and I haven’t seen a single payed feature yet (this doesn’t mean it’s absolutely free it could have payed features but from what I’ve seen the downloadable brushes, saving high quality work, using vector layers and more is free)
