- harry is half indian (the potters being indian) tbh i never imagined him that way while growing up and seeing daniel radcliff as harry. but the more i got into the fandom on tumblr, the more i feel in love with this concept.

it somehow makes so much more sense??? not only bc representation matters, but also the hate he got in his early life. harry grew up at the dursleys, in a middle class neighborhood in 1980 England. And all i'm trying to say with that is:

i can imagine vernon and his sister were THE perfect candidates for being racist twats. vernon hated harry and his father for being wizards, but why would marge hate him THAT MUCH? she didnt know harry and his family were magical. i think it would make so much sense she hated them for not being white and vernon hated them for it too (god, i really hate them sm)

also, i always thought it was so weird that not a single teacher/adult/ANYONE saw little harry being abused??? not only the bruises he got from dudley (and prop vernon too), but also his malnourished body, his way too big clothes, his broken glasses, etc. they never questioned this or gave a single fuck. maybe they never gave a fuck, bc why should they? - harrys scar being way more different than in the movies/early book covers

i loooove the concept of harry having a scar like an actual lightning bolt. bc first, it would indicate, that surviving the (powerful) killing curse would take a huge toll on a body.

second, it would look like an actual wound that magic could achieve.

i googled 'lichtenberg scars', scares that people got from actually being struck by a lightning bolt (or super high electricity).

they dont look natural at all, which makes them so unique and special and would fit the only surviving person of the avada kedavra curse. it also would explain why people would always ask harry to see his scar and why they were so fascinated about it (i know they want to see it bc of voldie and shit, but i think you get my point).

and third, it would look badass as fuck ngl

- i love scars in general. especially harrys lightning scar, but also rons tentacle-like scars he got in book 5. or dracos sectumsempra scars. or hermiones 'mudblood' scar. generally, i love fanarts or fanfics where they are visible or depicted. and the characters having to live with and accepting them.

- i'm a sucker for drarry fics, where harry sees dracos scars that he caused for the first time, how shocked and embarrassed he is for causing so much harm. apologizing profusely for them and draco beeing slightly overwhelmed by harrys behavior. (if you have recommendations for such fics, pls tell me).

- i've once red a fic where draco and hermione modified the scar bellatrix left on her by changing the word mudblood into "my blood is magic". i got goosebumps reading this, bc it felt so empowering somehow. but i also like the thought of hermione leaving the word by how it is, to remind anyone out there, what she's been through and what a powerful badass witch you can become, even tho you dont have magical parents.

- harrys "you must not lie" scar is also one of my favorites and i LOVE when people include it in fanfics. especially when there's a debate about the corrupt and twisted power of the ministry and crazy ideologies and harry just slams his hand on the table and starts ARGUING, leaving everyone silent lol

- harry having another lightning scar on his body, this time over his heart, when voldemort attempted to kill him the second time in the forest.

- draco covering up his deatheater tattoo, by putting flowers over/around it, to symbolize he'd grown.

- magical tattoos. tattoos that move around your body. harry having fr a tiny dragon tattoo, which 'flys' around his skin.

- harry beeing way more powerful after the war. i mean, he's the master of death after all??? he took down the most powerful wizard of all time??? now he has a crazy magical aura around him. he can cast wandless magical more effortlessly. when he gets angry, he lets out accidental magic, messing with electricity, the wind etc.

- harry renovating the black house. him finally getting rid of walpurgas portrait and the other gruesome decoration. draco helping him, bc he's a black afterall and knows a few tricks and spells. also draco and harry researching and explaining magical houses. kreacher is helping them too. the black house getting warm and cozy, after all those years.

- draco and harry getting together and harry is showing him the perks of the muggle world. draco discovering television, electricity, planes, science in general (later smartphones, video games etc). him being FASCINATED about it, wanting to learn more and more. (what do you MEAN, muggles were ON THE MOON??? THEY CAN TRAVEL IN SPACE??? WTF POTTER?!) draco discovering what an atomic bomb is, having an existencial crisis about it ("i can't believe muggles have more power than US? could we even STOP a bomb like this? surely YOU can , Potter 🙄")

- draco dragging his slytherin friends into the muggleworld.

- pansy being EXCITED to discover luxury brand like gucci, prada n shit. her wanting to study fashion and becoming a famous designer in the wizarding AND muggle world (muggles being like HAVE YOU SEEN PANSYS NEW DRESS?! IT LOOKS LIKE MAGIC FR)

- ginny becoming a famous quidditch star, always showing up at parties with the finest haute couture, showing off and promoting pansys newest designs (pansy loves her for it)

- blaise getting caught up too into the fashion/celebrity/influencer/gossip world. maybe becoming a famous art critique? or a journalist? him exposing people he dosnt like? love that shit fr

- goyle being fascinated about muggle sports, especially rugby and american football. him dragging draco, harry and ron into various matches and talking non stop about his favorite teams and players. harry finally convincing him to just do it himself. goyle actually doing it and having the time of his life.

- goyle dragging drarry to his first victory party with his teammates. harry, to his HORROR, seeing dudley again after all those years (what do you MEAN HARRY, BIG D IS YOUR COUSIN?!?)

- harry and dudley reconciling. i have many thoughts about this, but i really love the idea of a redemption arc for dudley. maybe dudley having a daughter, who is also a witch and him loving her with his whole heart and wanting to understand every problem and struggle she might face in the wizarding world. him cutting of contact with his father. visiting harry, notebook in hand, to remember every detail.

- harry never really told him about this, but after his daughter came home after her first year in hogwarts, he finally learns what harry had actually been through. him FLABBERGASTED when she handed him a book about the third great wizarding war, with a moving picture of harry on its cover (daddy, why have you never told me we are related to the savior? - the... WHAT????)

- Hermione becoming the minister of magic. FINALLY a competent witch, someone who's trying to make the world a better place (also harry backing her up, intimidating everyone who dares to be a bitch about it). a few things i think she would do:

- setting the elves free for real, giving them free healthcare, new jobs, an access to schools, housing etc. telling them about dobby and his story

- also, more freedom and rights for other magical beings, like merefolk, centaurs, goblins, giants and WEREWOLVES!!!

- giving elves and goblins wands???!!!

- a new school system where muggle studies is a MUST, bc how can you teach kids and NOT tell them of the rest of the non-magic world??? do they even know electricity? planes? science? how can you get rid of hate and stereotypes otherwise?

- teaching kids and adults how to dress in the muggle world lmao

- the more the people learn about science and shit, the more they could experiment? imagine a world where potions and chemistry would go hand-in-hand. wizards discovering what molecules and atoms are and researching like crazy. them learning how to incorporate technology with magic. (free wifi at hogwarts???) a fascinating concept for me.

- rita skeeter and dolores umbridge getting finally behind bars. I WANT JUSTICE

- Harry being an auror is cool, but after all he's been through, i can imagine he wouldnt want to be one for long. i think it would be so nice to become a teacher at hogwarts. defence against the dark powers would suit him sm. also, he could teach students something about unity, wizard and muggle relations, how to detect bigotry and propaganda, how to stand up for themselves etc

- draco becoming either a healer at st. mundos or a professor at hogwarts

- mcgonagall working hand-in-hand as head master with hermione, making hogwarts SAFE again

- draco having his trial after the battle of hogwarts. him being exhausted, ashamed, traumatized af. him not expecting and not wanting any mercy. the ministry also not wanting any mercy, bc fuck them deatheaters. them being astounded after harry waltzed into the court room, explaining that he, harry potter, will be dracos lawyer and DEMANDING him to be freed (who can say no to the savior)

- harry and his gang having fucking therapy after the war, please and thank you

- harry finally recognizing all the fucked up shit dumbledore has done to him and being ANGRY about it

- love me some good old dumbledore slander (fuck him)

- love the idea of draco being part veela

- draco growing out his hair after the war

- harry and draco getting together at their eight year at hogwarts. them talking about so many things, including the part in the forest where he died (again). draco being mortified (you. you are the master of death? are you kidding me? i thought it was only a tale for children ffs. harry wtf)

"Mommy! Daddy! I missed you sooo much!", Holly cried, throwing herself into Dudleys arms. After they've hugged and Dudley picked up Hollys big ass trunk and her owl cage with cassandra in it, they went to their car, his wife slowly driving them out of London. Dudley was sitting next to her, bombarding his daughter with questions ("how was everything? did you make friends? was everyone nice to you? how was the food? you were talking about flying lessons?"). he really missed her so much and was fascinated by her answers.

to think Harry was going through the same things in his first year made him happy... and sad at the same time. it looked like his daughter had so much fun, talking about brooms and potions and moving portraits. he wondered if harry would've told him the same things exitedly, if they've been friends back then. to think that he haven't had anybody to tell his stories to when he came home in summer... the thought stung.

talking about Harry...

"Dad? why did you never tell me, that we are related to the savior?" - "The what?", asked Dudley dumbly. "The SAVIOR daddy!", she repeated and after another minute of confused silence of her Dad, she added "Harry, Daddy! Uncle Harry!"

"Ehrm... Holly, i'm not sure what you are talking about? What is the savior? And what has that to do about Harry?". It was Hollys turn to sit there now, confused. "Daddy, you KNOW there was the third wizzarding war 13 years ago, dont you? You have told me that you and your parents had to leave your home behind because of it", she asked slowly. She didnt want to be mean, she knew her dad wasnt very good with history, but he was LIVING through this major event, wasnt he? even tho he was just a muggle? surely he must know that about harry?

"Well, I know Harry went to a different safe house than us back then. Mom, Dad and I were staying in our safe house for nearly a year. In may the two wizards who were staying with us told us, that 'we' had won the war, that harry was alive and that we didnt need to hide anymore. but more than that, i dont really know...", Dudley said slowly, trying to remember. He glanced at his wife who was concentrating on the road before her - rush hour in london was NO fun to thrive through. Not that she would've known anything about harry or the war either, she was just a 'muggle' like him.

"dad... uncle harry wasnt just ANY wizard fighting in the war, he was THE wizard", Holly began to explain. "What do you mean 'the wizard', honey?". "Dad, i've thought you already knew! We actually have a class about it at school, history of magic. our professor told us we would talk about 'the more gruesome details' in forth year, but we've learned about the basics", holly began to explain. "there was this powerful wizard, lord voldemort, he- " "Ahhh i know that name!", Dudley interrupted her, "he was the one who, well, who killed harrys parents!" "Thats right dad, he was the one who murdered Lily and James Potter in the second wizarding war. and he wanted to kill harry too, but harry survived his killing curse - which should've been impossible by the way - and because of that he was branded with the name 'the-boy-who-lived". Dudley turned around in his seat to look at his daughter, flabberghasted. "What do you mean, he survived the killing curse? i dont know much about magic and curses, but the word "killing curse" is rather specific, don't you think?" "Thats the thing dad, NOBODY to this day knows exactly how he did it. even he dosnt know the specifics..." "wait, how do you know that he dosnt know it either, darling?", hollys mom now questioned her, sounding intrigued. "In our history books is an interview with harry. he states that he dosnt know the specifics behind it, but that he and former headmaster albus dumbledore guessed that... sacrifical love magic was behind it. No, i dont know what that means either dad, i dont think that a first year would learn anything about THAT in class", Holly stated, before her dad could interrupt her yet again. Merlin, it was complicated to explain wizarding stuff to non-magical people, but her muggle-study professor encouraged them to explain magic to their parents the best they could, to prevent missunderstandings.

"I - Harry gave an interview and you've read it in your ACTUAL official history book? in class? ", Dudley asked her, his eyes wide, sounding yet again completely overwhelmed. Holly sighned. "Yes dad, hes in our official history books. would you like me to finish the story or...?" - "yes of course honey. i'm sorry, its just... we're talking about Harry here, our Harry... its so weird to hear that your cousin is in actual history books, you know?", Dudley explained slowley.

Holly wasnt sure if she should tell him that uncle harry wasnt only in history books, but that he was regularly featured in different magazines and papers, or that he had is own chocolat frog card (she was shocked to see her uncle moving quickly out of frame when she opened her first ever chocolat frog pack in the hogwarts train). well, maybe it was best to push that conversation into the future.

"sooo, er where was i? right. he survived the killing curse which backfired right into Lord Voldemort, banishing him for the next 14 years. but in harrys forth year he came back" she made a pause intentionally, waiting for her dad to ask "in his FORTH year? Shit, he was only 14 back then, right? must've been pretty hard to know that the murderer of your parents is... there again? how did he actually DO that?" "I dont really know, our history book isnt that clear about it. it has something to do with a dark magic ritual? a student asked our professor about specifics, but he got really serious and said, that this would fall under the 'gruesome details' we would talk about in forth year. but i think it must've hit harry pretty hard back then. in his interview he told that he was there to witness lord voldemorts ressuraction and that a friend of his was killed before his eyes on that day. i think is name was cedric something?", she mused, trying to remember his exact name. she was interrupted by a loud shriek.

"CEDRIC?! THAT BOY WAS NAMED CEDRIC?!", her father gasped, clearly mortified. He looked at his wife who angrily mouthed 'jesus, dont scream like that while i'm driving! you scared me!'. Dudley didnt seem to notice her. "Are you sure he was named Cedric?", he asker again, albeit a tad more quiet. Holly nodded her head, slightly confused. "I'm sure. Harry told in the interview that Cedric was the first victim of the third war and that people better remember his name", she told him. Dudley looked pale. The name which harry screamed at night when he was back home was also Cedric. Could it be the same boy? He must've been the same, the timing was too perfect. That means the times he mocked Harry about his 'boyfriend' Cedric was actually... shame and guilth washed through his entire body. he knew that he was a huge asshole when he was young, a big mean bully, but that was - even for his standarts - a low blow. mocking harry about his supposed boyfriend, when he witnessed that friend dying in front of his eyes... and even afterwards harry had still rescued him from those scarifying thormentors... if the roles were reversed, dudley didnt know if he would've done the same. guilth nagged at his stomache. he needed to apologize to harry. even when that apology was years too late.

holly looked at her pale dad. "dad? is everything alright? did you... know cedric?"

"harry mentioned him once. i - holly, when we're home, i need to write a letter. can you help me send it with Cassie?"

"ehrm... sure dad, no problem. do you want me to continue?" her father let out a shaky breath. "sure honey"

"so... when harry brought cedrics body back to hogwarts after he escaped Voldemort-"

"he ESCAPED?! he wasnt rescued?! he did it by HIMSELF?! where there no adults to help him or?!", her mother now interrupted her, concearn clearly written in her face.

holly closed her eyes shortly. "look, mom, dad, when were back home, i'll give you my history book and you can read it yourself, alright? its a bit complicated to tell you everything, especially when you dont know any context. in the book the events are explained a lot more clearly. i can give you a short recap now, but not every detail, alright?" her parents both nodded after a short hesitation.

"great! so... basically harry was in this big tournament in his forth year, where he and three other wizards had to fight against dragons and other creatures. technically it was illegal for him to even be in that tournament, because only wizards that were 17 or older could join it, but the event was rigged by a follower of Voldemort, so he HAD to join it - dad, the book explains it better alright, you just have to WAIT - but anyways, in their last task he and Cedric were 'teleported' to Voldemorts resuraction place. nobody of the adults knew about it, because this follower of Voldemort did it in secret. Cedric was killed, Voldemort came back, Harry and Voldemort duelled, Harry managed to escape and he went back to Hogwarts. There he told everybody about Voldmorts return, but nobody but Professor Dumbledore and a few of his friends believed him", Holly summarized.

The car became silent. Dudley looked a little lost in Hollys eyes. He was in fact a little lost. Harry went through all of that alone? He managed to escape this crazy powerful wizard, only to come back and nobody believed him? He... couldnt remotely grasp on how he mustve felt in that moment. and also... how powerful was Harry to fight Voldermort when he was only 14? He gulped. He didnt know what to say, so he only asked weakly "and then?"

"Well, after that Voldemort gained more power and followers in secret. that went on for about a year. Harry finally managed his reveal when he fought him and his followers in the ministry in the end of his fifth year. our teacher didnt tell us the details why Harry was even there and the book is also a bit... fishy, but the aftermath of the fight was that the whole wizarding community finally knew that Voldemort was back. Harry also stated in his interview, that his godfather Sirius Black was killed in the fight", Holly ended quietly.

The car was still yet again. "Dad? I know you and Harry werent close back then, but did you really not know any about this? Didnt Harry talk of his loss or...?" Dudley audibly swallowed. He looked even paler now and struggeled to begin his next sentence. "Holly, look... when i said we werent close... we really really werent close. we never talked much, couldnt talk much, because Mom and Dad kept him in his room all the time. I didnt question it when i was younger, i only began to understand when i was 16 how not normal it was to lock up a kid all the time. thats one of the reasons why you've met your grandparents only once when you were born. they are... not nice people. horrible, really. after the war had ended and i got into college and met your mom, i cut nearly every contact with them. i...", Dudley looked at his wife next to him.

She smiled a little at him, a sad knowing smile. She was there when he had his huge fight with his parents, which marked the end of their relationship. it wasn pretty to say the least. he drew in a big breath. "what i want to say is that harry and i wouldnt talk about anything back then. for most of the time i was a huge asshole to him. so no, i didnt knew about his loss... or his losses. i... really regret that if i'm honest", he ended lamely. "but now you talk again, right?", his wife replied after a short silence, forcing enthusiasm in her voice. Dudley smiled a little. "Yes, now we talk again and i'm grateful that we do. He and his husband are great people. the best, really".

"I know dad. i'm sorry that you hadnt had a great relationship to begin with", Holly told her father seriously, sounding older than her 12 years of age wouldve let on. Dudley was always surprised of how smart she was. god knows it wasnt because of him and his intellect, he was glad that he finished college with his rugby scholarship. no, it was definitivly his wives side. he smiled at her, taking her hand in his and squeezing it fondly. she grinned back at him and cleared her throat. "right honey, do you want to finish your story? i really want to know how harry managed to kick voldemorts ass"

"right, so... it really is getting worse before it turns to good. in harrys sixth year, voldemort came out of the shadows. he began his second reign of terror. killing muggles and wizzards left and right, capturing people, that sort of stuff. if i'm honest, i'm a little scared to know the whole extend in forth year, it sounds gruesome enough now. but anyways, Voldemort somehow managed to kill headmaster Dumbledore in the end of Harrys sixth schoolyear. Which was really bad, because Dumbledore was the only wizard that could hold up to Voldemorts magical powers. After his death, Harry didnt go back to Hogwarts, he went into hiding with his two best friends. I think that must've been the same time when you went into hiding as well, Daddy", Holly concluded.

Dudley swallowed hard, yet again. "Sounds logical", he stated weakly. "What did they do when they went away?" Holly scruffed up her little nose. "To be honest, i dont really know. The text in the book is rather vague and our teacher didnt seem to know either. And in Harrys interview he only says, that they went into research 'to make the dark lord mortal once again'. which seems rather crazy to me, i mean 'mortal once again'? does that mean he was literally immortal? how can you kill an immortal person?", she questioned. Her parents seemed to be at a loss of words.

"I didnt know wizards could be immortal? is that normal?", her father answered at last. he seemed rather baffled. "well, i mean wizzards age differently than non-magical people. professor dumbledore was 187 when he died. many other powerful wizards die when they're around 150? or even older? i can imagine that other wizards can get much older than that", Holly mused, fascinated by that thought. Her mother cleared her throat and smiled. "Well, whatever that answer really is, i'm glad that you'll get to have a really long life, sweetie".

"How old was Voldemort?", Dudley suddenly asked. "Hm, the book said he died when he was 79. why?" That answer seemed to satisfy her dad. "Didnt bring him really much to be immortal when he died at 79, did it?", he said rather smugly. Holly hummed. "I guess not... but yeah, Harry and his friends did somehow find out how to kill Voldemort.

Which leads to the final battle of Hogwarts" - "Wait wait wait... the final battle was AT YOUR SCHOOL?! Does that mean that STUDENTS had to fight Voldemort?!", her mother asked, sounding terrified at that thought. Holly grimaced. "Technically, only students that were over 17 were allowed into the battle. but many underage students went to fight regardless. there's this huge memorial next to hogwarts, which lists all of the names of the people who died in that battle... its... rather long", Holly whispered the last part. Many students of Hogwarts had siblings, parents or other relatives who died on that day. students and teachers would go regularly to the memorial to bring fresh flowers and candles, honoring the deaths of the fighters. it was... sad to say the least. wanting to finish the story better now than later, she began to speak.

"so... after the first part of the battle on a short break, voldemort demanded harry to come to him to the forbidden forest. he would cease the attack immediately if harry would come to him and face himself. and harry... harry went to him. he actually went there! knowing that voldemort would kill him on the spot! in the interview he refused to talk about specifics, but he stated that he KNEW he would die then and there! can you imagine that?!" Dudley could - in fact - not imagine that. he would've ran straight to the opposite, no questions asked, thank you and bye-bye! "and then?", he asked quietly.

"well, thats where the books goes fishy again. harry refused the statement, only told that he went into the forest. but the captured death-eaters - thats the name of voldemorts followers - who were present in the forest, told... no they sweared that harry was there and voldemort shot him with the killing curse! they swear he was stricken by it and crumpled to the forest floor! a death-eater witch even confirmed that he had no pulse! he outright died that moment! after that they went back to hogwarts with his corpse, showing the last resistance that the-boy-who-lived died. but then... and thats the part NOBODY can explain: harry got up on his feet and raced to fight Voldemort. and he won! he duelled against voldemort and he actually won! he killed voldemort in that last fight! THATS why the wizarding community calls him the SAVIOR! he went against all odds and killed the dark lord!", Holly finished, beaming to her very core.

Dudley sat there in his car, which was standing now into the driveway of their house, godsmacked. his wife next to him looked exactly how he felt. the seconds were ticking by, before he could finally gasp "harry... died that day? and then... he came back? and won over voldemort?" he couldnt really comprehend it. sure, harry was a wizard and could do all kind of crazy magic and shit, but actually dying? and coming BACK?! that sounds more of some jesus kind of behavior. "are you sure holly thats what actually happened?", her mother asked next to him. "well, thats what the history books and my teachers say", holly said, sounding amazed and unsure at the same time. "to be honest, i dont think anybody except harry knows the real story. many witches and wizards question him to that very day how he'd done it. but thats the thing, when he was a baby, he'd done it the first time anyways. so, why shouldnt he be able to do it a second time?", she mused, rambeling a bit in the end.
