headcanon that miles took much longer to start talking when they were little, and even then he still didn't talk very much until later on.

mika, on the other hand, was a very talkative little kid. most people's impression of the macklin twins when they were little was "he never talks, she never stops talking."

however. the key exception to this dynamic was when they were up to something.

their mom walks into a room and is met with miles cheerfully rambling without pause, and mika barely glancing up from where she's sitting quietly at the table coloring on a cardboard box? immediate suspicion. hi miles. hi mika. what's the box for.

"nothing." (aggressive nodding in agreement from mika).

approximately 30 seconds of questions later, and it turns out they were trying to sneak out of the house, kidnap the neighbor's dog, and hide him in the newly-decorated box so he could be their new pet.

both of them are astonished that they were caught so quickly. <3

thinking about piper seeking jasper out for emotional comfort because he's always been there for her, no matter how bad things got. thinking about jasper learning to read her better than anyone else, even henry, and having a hug at the ready whenever she needs it. thinking about piper begrudgingly apologising to jasper and him waving her apology away and piper feeling so seen. thinking about jasper inspiring her to be kind because you never know what someone else is going through. thinking about jasper giving her a space to be a little girl with big feelings

thinking about piper coming to rely on charlotte and jasper more and more as henry grows increasingly distant and her parents sometimes leave for days with an hour's notice. thinking about her missing henry so, so much, but not knowing how to be vulnerable and never telling him. and she knows it could be worse. her parents are fairly absent but they're not like jasper's. her brother is distant but she still has support, she has people who love her like a sister and who are inspiring her and letting her thrive. still, she can't help but want her big brother back - the person who helped her get into the man fans and introduced her to jam, not the person who won't even help her with a meet cute

thinking about her world being turned upside down when she finds out henry's secret. about her finally understanding why she had to miss him so much. thinking about her realising that she's still not getting henry back, he's too far gone already and everyone around him is afraid of what'll happen if his bubble is popped. thinking about charlotte and jasper seeing her sift through years of kid danger footage, connecting the dots, and not being able to take this pain away because only henry could even hope to try

thinking about piper's entire support network leaving for dystopia just when she needs them most (starting college at 14 can't be easy). henry's bubble has finally popped, he's slowly going back to reality and though piper sees how much it hurts him she hopes that the distance between them might get a little less wide. thinking about her watching henry recover from everything he went through as far as he can and feeling that she's finally getting her big brother back
