— This one? You sure? — Ares asked as he looked at the photo of Percy Jackson projected onto the wall.
— I'm sure — Athena repeated once again. — Bold, smart, loyal. He is definitely a reincarnation of Odysseus
— Then I guess he didn't choose the best vessel. — The God of War walked up and pointed his finger at the image from the projector. — Let me remind you, this is Poseidon's son. And Poseidon and Odysseus were at enmity
— Anyways.. You in?
— In your crazy quest of searching for Odysseus? — Ares rolled his eyes. — Sure..
— Excellent. Then your task now is to put the bow in the house
Ares sighed and returned his gaze to Percy's image on the snow-white wall. Something about it all struck him as odd. He caught something familiar, something elusive.
These outward features… They had no meaning for him, but he wasn't stupid. He was thinking. Contemplating.
Yes, Percy is bold.
Yes, Percy is smart.
Yes, Percy is loyal.
But Ares knew someone who was also as bold, smart, and loyal as Odysseus.
— Don't you think you're wrong? — Ares turned to Athena
Athena looked up from what Ares called "Plans" no matter what it was:
— Excuse me?
Ares takes a few steps closer to Athena and places his hand on her desk.
— What if you're so obsessed that you don't want to look at the bigger picture?
— Ares, I'm not obsessed with anything. — Athena said threateningly, straightening up and towering over Ares.
— Oh, really?! — Ares swept several "Plans" off the table and straightened up as well. — You've been fussing over this palace ever since Telemachus died, like it's a discarded sack, dragging it around like a dog with a ball, looking for that fucking Odysseus. I can't help but think you're obsessed, fixated on feeling guilty about it and wanting to-!..
A moment later, Ares stood hunched over the table, clutching his neck. It's not entirely clear what happened, but it seems like Athena stabbed him with something sharp. Golden drops of ἰχώρ dripped onto the wooden deck
— Get out — Athena said coldly, almost growling.
Ares looked up at his sister, and without losing his face even while grasping to his neck, heading out towards the exit.
We'll see who was right.
But for now he needs to see Apollo..
