☆ﾟ*・ﾟ rant to me.

❅ — fuyumi’s fingers absentmindedly toy with the metal pin on her shirt. it’s designed in the shape of a red feather.

                    she laughs and it sounds like what he imagines warm sunshine would.  light,  uplifting.  happy.  he echoes her without even knowing it,  unrestrained smile on his face as he watched her collect everything they needed.         “  it’ll be thiiiiiiiiiiis tall !  ”          stretches his arms as wide apart as they will go,  laughter bubbling at the ridiculousness of it   —   there was no way they could make a pancake that big !   stays close by her side even as she moves about the kitchen,  like a shadow   ——–   (  it had been worse when she had first taken him in.  could not even bare to be in a different room than her,  always needing to see where she was at all times.  it was getting progressively better;   could stay into another room if he checked in with her every now and again.  )   

                      eventually he moves to the other side of the bench,  climbs onto the tall chair and waits patiently.   her words earn a wide - eyed stare,  imagination conjuring the possible images in his mind’s eye.  he claps his gloved hands together,  making a muffled noise.      “  yeah !  i hope i can be like you,  baba.  ”        a measured pause as he rubs his hands together and casts his gaze down.  when he next speaks his voice is quieter,  but curious.         “  …  would you let me be a hero like you?  d  —   dad said i couldn’t.  ”

    such a drastic shift in tone is not unusual. in the beginning, more days than not were tumultuous and forever changing. anything could set tenko off. it’s better now, but these little key moments, as few and far in between they may be getting, still leave her with a heavy heart. already she misses his bright smile, the cheery little way he had exaggerated his imagined pancake with his hands. if she had gotten to him sooner. if she could have helped before it all disintegrated so quickly. well. it’s enough to make even the mightiest heroes feel overwhelmed, she’d suppose; but then she thinks about what it must be like for tenko, unfairly young and traumatized beyond anything more pros will ever face, and it’s an easier burden to bear if it means he gets any sort of reprieve.
