Geraskefer is real and here's why
I've seen a few people lamenting the lack of Yennskier or Geraskefer in S4, but IMHO the WHOLE DAMN THING is OT3 fodder.
In The Witcher Season 4, we are seeing the events of the story through the lens of a storyteller referencing Half a Century of Poetry by Julian Alfred Pankratz, AKA Jaskier the Bard. What we watch is a reader interpreting his poetry and prose.
Which is maybe why I'm so painfully, poignantly in love with the characters, because Jaskier loves them too.
Nimue says that Geralt and Yennefer's love is "for the ages," which is either what the Poet said himself, or her reading of his account. Jaskier, through Nimue, is the one telling us their story--that opening montage about their Geralt-Yenn-Ciri family backstory only depicts the three of them BECAUSE Jaskier is telling the story. He doesn't include himself in the narrative of a third person, but rather tells the reader about his greatest loves and defining relationships of his lifetime.
Have you ever held something so shining and precious you're afraid that showing it to anyone or talking about it will somehow diminish the glory of it, or feared that your words wouldn't be able to do it justice?
This is how Jaskier loves Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri. It's easy for him to talk about how they love each other. He can see it, and it's beautiful, and he wants the world to remember them because he loves them. But they way they love him, that is so deep and encompassing and boundless, how can he ever show that? He's the narrator, not part of the story. Their love for him is his to treasure silently. He's human (no he's not he's immortal don't @ me) (he thinks he's human) and he knows (thinks) his life is fleeting, and transient, and how could it ever measure up to the Destiny-bound love that moved the heavens, the earth, and the spheres themselves?
Of course he's wrong. We can feel how much he loves them through his telling of their story. Who else but someone who loved them would show the reader their beauty and strength so clearly and vividly? Yennefer in this season comes back from losing her mother and her daughter all in one horrible day, and turns that grief and fear into power. Everything she did, she had to have told Jaskier about it, because he was busy following (walking beside, supporting, comforting, caring for) Geralt across the Continent while this was happening. And Geralt, turning away from revenge on Cahir to save Jaskier from a battle. Geralt, knowing he's the only one who can fight a wraith but sending the rest of his companions to save his Bard from hell. Geralt, wryly and gently pitching in to tell Jaskier's musical story around the campfire. Geralt later telling him about the Rusalka, how he saw Yenn and Ciri in their places and the riddle, the answer, "I am a father."
And I think it was Geralt telling Yennefer and Jaskier, "When I dream of a life well lived, it's us."
Because some things are too close, too dear, to share with the world. Like when your lovers reunite on the path and pull you into the pool of firelight and warmth for a moment of succor and healing in the midst of fear and pain. It's much easier to talk about someone else's grief than it is your own. It's easier to tell everyone how lovely your witcher and your sorceress are together than it is to tell the world how much you love them and how you wouldn't change a moment of this, even in the midst of war, because it means you get to know them. We don't see him in the story because he is himself in the story and we are seeing it through his eyes.
And so Half a Century of Poetry tells us about the fated love of Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer of Vengerburg, and their daughter Cirilla of Cintra...but it is told to us by Jaskier the Bard, their lover and beloved.
