So this guy approached me today while I was sitting alone and said "you look lonely" and without thinking, my stranger danger powers activated and I said "nah, I'm good." Then I realized he was trying to flirt.

Instead of working on my portfolio, I spent my time Photoshopping myself into the Doctor Who 50th anniversary poster. Time well spent.
Cards Against Humanity: Technical Theatre Edition
I had a thought the other day: why not make a technical theatre edition of Cards Against Humanity?Â
I need your help! We need A LOT of cards to make this work. Once I get enough ideas maybe we can all figure out a way of playing together. :)
Hereâs some that I have so far:
Black Cards:
â_____. Itâs the industry standard.â
Whoâs talking backstage?
âYou can never have enough _____â
What do technicians do for fun?
Why were you late for your call?
âFly crew. Standby _____â
Whatâs that sound?
âI can fix anything with ______ and ______.â
Why was the Head Dresser angry today?
You want me to do build WHAT in 2 hours?
âWe need a _______ sound effect in Scene III.â
Why are you always so busy?
_____ is always a suitable substitute for _____.
TD: Iâm putting an order in; need anything?
______: a technical directorâs worst nightmare.
______ was discussed at the production meeting this week.
In lieu of nixing the âBest Sound Designâ Tony Award, the American Theatre Wing is making it up to sound designers by giving them _______.
How do technicians handle the long working hours?
Tonightâs load out was brought to a screeching halt after ______ was accidentally loaded onto the truck.
The successor to DMX will be_____.
â________ coming in downstage-right!â
White Cards:
Gaff tape.
I.A.T.S.E.
A palette of new Source Fours.
A palette of new Source Fours (with no plugs or lens tubes).
A Batman gobo.
A preoccupied director.
Skin shredding rope burn.
Community theatre.
A road case full of screws.
The forth wall, crashing down.
Glue gun burns.
Mistaking someone elseâs multi-tool as your own.
Forgetting to bring your wrench to a lighting call.
10/12 days.
Scale drawings. With no scale.
Confetti drops.
Glitter Meat.
Equity breaks.
Napkin invoices.
Edible props.
Rattling chop saws.
Both ASMs not on headset.
Noisy scrollers.
The sweet, sweet smell of dust fusing onto hot stage lights.
Painting an entire set in gloss (and it was supposed to be in matte).
A highly detailed prop (that gets cut before opening).
An audience member who is giving you sound advice while youâre running lights.
Using actual bricks as stage weights.
SM58s covered in lipstick.
PRYO.
A coffee stained lighting plot.
Building a set to a 1/64th accuracy.
NFG equipment that isnât actually NFG.
3 buckets of Elbow wrapped XLR cable.
12 crew on coffee break.
A shiny new sound board.
Gut-wrenching feedback.
A wardrobe Lead covered in safety pins.
Working 5 concurrent shows.
Cooking with PAR cans.
A lighting designer giving sound notes.
I am in favor of this.
Technician Problems #1
When you wear normal clothes and need a multi tool/flashlight so you reach for your belt but it isnât there.
I just realized I live with 4 people and I attend a conservatory with crazy working hours so I'm rarely ever alone. Why does it feel like I am?

So I may or may not have drawn the triforce on my leg to see what it would be like to get it tattooed...
There's just too much to do, like do I watch doctor who or do I save Hyrule? Or maybe I could try a cosplay or read a book. How am I supposed to choose between all my nerdy loves?
I saw a âshoutout to the theatre kidsâ post that was only about actors and I felt left out so this is for everyone else (please add to this if you feel you havenât been represented!!):
shoutout to the theatre kids that arenât actors
to the stage managers who manage to balance friendships and being authoritative in rehearsals
to the technicians that do extra training in welding and access equipment and so many other things to make themselves more hireable
to the techs and stage management who just sometimes want to wear colour but are instead in show blacks all the time
to the stage managers who get stuck mediating the tension between directors and designers who are older and supposed to be more mature than you
to the techs who injure themselves, deal with it, and keep working (or are told they arenât allowed and are so annoyed about it)
to the designers that have to compromise what they want because the director doesnât like it or there isnât enough time/budget/equipment
to the casual crew members who just like theatre and want to be involved but arenât trying to make a career of it
to everyone who tries (and sometimes fails) to fit in friends and healthy eating during tech week
to everyone who has ever done a year-long unpaid (or barely paid) internship in the hopes that it will lead to a job opportunity
to everyone who has ever worked really hard on making/finding a prop only to have it cut in tech or dress
to the design assistants that have to figure out when and how to become designers in their own right
to anyone who has ever managed to avert a crisis backstage where thereâs barely any light and you canât talk
to anyone who has ever had to make the decision to stop the show because some crises just canât be averted
to everyone who struggles to understand unions
and the list goes on and on
youâre all fucking amazing
Ahhh the tech week one so applies to my life right now
Pun of the day
What's Captain Kirk's favorite type of tree? A Chris Pine.
Literally everyoneâs reaction when I got a pixie cut

The Nightmare of Reality
I fell asleep and woke up in a nightmare.
I am watching my worst fears unfold before me.
I run to stop them but go nowhere.
I run but I am helpless.
Walls get build up inside me.
Walls that become a maze.
I stumble and fall and grope my way around,
Searching for a way out,
Hoping to see the sun.
But nothing I do,
Nowhere I run to,
Will get me to the break of dawn.
My sobs are uncontrollable,
The maze is inescapable.
My cries get louder and the visions get stronger.
Reality weakens and the demon awakens.
The past is fading and the present is burning.
I pound on the walls.
I pinch my skin until I bleed.
I scream until my throat is raw.
Nothing will wake me.
Nothing will do.
I must accept that this nightmare is true.
Yes, I did write this! Thoughts?
Finally a fanfiction writer!
After years of reading it, I finally got the nerve to write it! So far just Doctor Who, but I might branch out into other things! But I'm definitely not as obsessed (or as knowledgeable) with other things as I am with Doctor Who....
Anyway, it's called "Urban Words Through Space and Time" and I find terms on the internet that I think would be interesting to integrate into Doctor Who and I write one-shots about them! Check it out!
