IX . Melodious Nocturne

“I never wanted to keep you locked up,” Myde admitted.  “I was only with them ‘cause they told me Kingdom Hearts would get me my tail back.  Ask any of ‘em, I would do whatever it took to get out of doing stuff.  Especially that big battle.  Eugh.  No thank you.  Fighting is so not my scene.”  He wasn’t a hero.  He wasn’t a villain.  He was just… there.

“Barely my scene either.” She sighed. “I wanna be strong, but… I kind of just… made an even bigger mess for everyone.” Kairi shook her head. “One day- I’ll be a keyblade master, too. At least if that’s what it takes to protect my friends. I don’t want to let anyone down.”

“Oh, I’m sure.”  The mention of Donald made him shift uncomfortably in the water, even though it was him who brought it up. He’d been on the wrong side of the mage’s Thundara spell and it had hurt.   “He was the first one I asked to turn me back, you know.”  And he’d flat out refused to help anyone from the Organization.  Rude.

“Oh, really?” Kairi frowned and let the silence hang for a moment. “Well… You know- I forgive you. I forgave Axel, and he had treated me a lot worse than you.” She winced. “But he changed and he did everything he could to apologize.”

“You could ask him,” Myde suggested.  He shifted in the water, carefully wording the next suggestion.   “Or… _they_ said Sora went to Atlantica on his first journey.  I think the duck got him there.  That might be easier.”  

We’re popping the biggest bottles tonight! Cause this most recent trailer for the kh3 DLC kills the Demyx Theory not once, but twice! No offense to the people that liked this theory but it always rubbed me the wrong way. But you’re all here for the evidence!

Evidence #1 MoM meets Young Xehanort tease.

Now we don’t know for sure if this is the Master of Masters or not. There was no audio in this scene. Either intentionally or the English voice over isn’t done yet. Regardless, the hooded figures’ movements heavily mirror the MoM’s in Backcover. 

If this is the MoM then this scene is a flashback to before all of cannon since Young Xehanort doesn’t have his yellow eyes yet. Now the other option is it’s Xigbar picking up Y. Xehanort to join the “real” organization. But we’re going to assume it’s the Master of Masters. If so then it can’t be Demyx. The whole argument for Demyx being MoM is Demyx not remembering it. This guy clearly knows what’s happening and clearly has a direction he wants to push Xehanort in to fulfill his destiny. Why would MoM willingly mess with Y. Xehanort and then waste at least 8 years pretending to be Demyx? And he’d have to pretend, seeing as he clearly remembers everything.

Evidence 1.5 Mystery man’s body type and coat do not match Demyx at all.

Xigbar’s model lost his shoulder pads between 2 and 3. While as you can see here they specifically kept Demyx’s shoulder pads. He’s also smaller with a tighter fitting coat. You can even see his little biceps in this frame. Sure Luxu admits to body-hopping but there’s no evidence to say MoM started doing that too. Especially since the figure sitting on the rock is incredibly similar to how MoM looks in Backcover. Why keep the same body for literal centuries and then switch for the last decade of hiding?

Evidence #2 Xigbar and Luxord’s conversation

From what we can gather in this scene Luxord knows Xigbar is up to something. He seems to know Xigbar and himself are from the age of Fairytales. It’s the only thing Luxord would possibly need to “play dumb” about. Especially since this scene happens before Xemnas’ “reveal” at the rocks. But he doesn’t know Xigbar is Luxu which fits with the fact that Luxu was charged with watching from the shadows. (I have a whole other theory about who Luxord is, but this is a Demyx post!)

So here’s the part that connects to Demyx.

Xigbar admits to not remembering Luxord from his time watching the dandelions in their data daybreak. Some kh3 reports confirm Luxu was watching the Data Daybreak and the events that led to Ventus, Lauriam, Elrena, Skuld, and mostly likely Demyx getting out of the data world. 

Since Xemnas knows they’re connected to the first Keyblade war there must have been something about how they were found that revealed it. Originally we all thought Xigbar just straight up told him. But why would Xigbar say Luxord was one if he doesn’t remember him? 

Anyway this all singles Luxord out as a mystery person Xigbar doesn’t know the origins of. Implying he knows the origins of the other ex-keykids including Demyx. Another part of the MoM equal Demyx theory was that Xigbar didn’t recognize Demyx as the MoM. But if he knows who Demyx was in the past it’s unlikely he knows Demyx as the MoM. Xigbar’s whole plan would have been way different if he knew he had MoM right at his side. He also would have called Demyx out on acting lazy and dumb. And if Demyx didn’t remember but Xigbar did. Xigbar would have kept Demyx on a tighter leash in kh3 and Demyx wouldn’t have been able to sneak off to drop off the replica and Ansem.

“I thought you Keyblade people had magic that can change your form?” Myde asked.  He floated on his back, letting his flukes rise out above the surface.  It was always weird seeing the princess again, after the Organization kidnapped her, but he hoped he’d proven he wasn’t a threat by now.
