I don't know if it's fair to call Abstragedy Yuri since Zooble is nonbinary, but I agree. I love their relationship. It's honestly ironic that the most wholesome ship in the show is called Abstragedy.

Oh, I guess Ragatha and Pomni also mended their friendship. That's nice I guess. Ragatha is just so nice and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The new episode of Amazing Digital Circus is almost here, and I’m very interested in seeing the ongoing changing relationship between Pomni, Jax, and Ragatha. When I first saw episode 5, I felt like Pomni and Jax becoming friends was a little rushed, but after watching it a few more times, I felt like the execution was good. Looking closer, Jax actually did a much better job actually connecting with Pomni than Ragatha has. 

I’ve been loving Funnybunny (Pomni X Jax) since episode 5 came out, while I have always been apathetic to Buttonblossum (Pomni X Ragatha). I think it’s because Jax has been better at engaging Pomni. Pomni and Jax had a few good conversations in episode 5, while I don’t remember Pomni and Ragatha ever having a great interaction. There’s a pretty good video about the ways Jax has been discreetly trying to learn more about Pomni in episode 5, and it got me thinking. 

Who has actually asked Pomni more questions? Ragatha or Jax? I actually went and wrote down every question that Ragatha and Jax have asked Pomni in the series. Note: I am being loose on what qualifies as a question; some of these are rhetorical. Since I was equally loose with both of them, I feel like this list is fair. 

Ragatha: 

Ep1: 

So this is where we all live, well, where we all sleep at night. Even though we don’t really need to sleep, sometimes it’s nice to have a break from everything and have a routine, you know? 

Hey Pomni, you think you can help me out here? 

Ep2:

3.Hey Pomni, how’d you sleep? 

4. Are you still sleeping? 

5. Wow, sounds fun! What do you think, Pomni? 

6 and 7. Pomni! Are you ok? What happened? 

8. Is that (bringing Gummigoo back to the circus) allowed? 

9. Do you at least want to join us for Kaufmo’s funeral? 

Ep3: 

10 & 11. Are you guys ok? Was it scary?

12 & 13. Hey Pomni, remember when Kaufmo smashed me against the wall and I got jumbled up? All things considered, that was pretty funny, right? 

14. Hmmm, maybe. Who knows? 

15. What!? You’re the one who says it’s fine to be a jerk sometimes!

You guys want to get something to eat? (Note: He was also talking to Ragatha, so I’m split on whether or not to include this.)

6. So what was it like being stuck with the nutcase?

8. Looks like that oh so positive Ragatha charm is starting to wear off, huh? 

9. Can you believe this, Pomni? First, she draws anime, and now she drags us all into one. 

10. Do you think Gangle is actually capable of being happy? 

11. Her comedy mask still breaks every day. Does she think hanging out with Zooble is going to magically fix that? 

12. It’s nothing, who cares? 

13. Doesn’t she (Ragatha) get on your nerves sometimes? 

14. It just feels like she’s (Ragatha) trying to take advantage of you, you know? 

15. What are you talking about? Yes, I do (Have a tail). 

16. Where’s my tail? 

17. How long did I not have my tail? 

18. When would that have even…. 

19. So Pomni, you ever have any jobs or are you too young for that? 

20. A supermarket? How did you ever end up here? 

21. Yeah, god Pomni! You didn’t know that? 

22. Oh look, Gangle’s up to bat. How do you think this is going to go? 

23. I’m in a maid outfit, what do you think? 

Now, as you can see, Jax has actually asked Pomni more questions than Ragatha. In fact, he arguably has asked her more questions in episode 5 than Ragatha has in the entire series. Jax’s questions are also more substantial, as he asks more questions about Pomni’s opinions and even Pomni’s past. Ragatha’s questions are mostly just welfare checks and sometimes getting information about situations. 

It seems Jax has more interest in who Pomni is as a person, while Ragatha just wants a friend, and Pomni is the one who is most likely to be that friend, given that she is new. That’s kind of why it’s funny that Ragatha is worried about Jax corrupting Pomni, since she doesn’t really know who Pomni truly is. 

Honestly, Ragatha and Pomni never had a great relationship. They have been friendly, but never really friends. Their relationship started awkwardly, with Pomni (understandably) abandoning Ragatha. The next episode has Ragatha’s attempts at positivity fall completely flat. Pomni does show Ragatha appreciation at the end of episode 3, but that could be seen as Pomni just being nice, as their relationship didn’t improve after that high point. They barely interacted in episode 4 (though to be fair, Ragatha was high), and their relationship reached another low point in episode 5. There is the implication that Pomni only asked Ragatha to bat for her just so she could keep talking to Jax. If that isn’t what she was doing, I believe that Ragatha believes that’s what she was doing. 

Now I’m not trying to demonize Ragatha and glorify Jax. They are both very flawed people with different priorities. I’m fascinated by how the relationships will change in the next episode.  The three of them have a very complicated relationship, and I wonder how it’s going to change in the next episode. Honestly, there’s a part of me wanting to see Ragatha crash out.
