Location: A fancy pants hotel bar
One of the benefits of a promotion to escort, was the extension of her reins. Instead of lingering by the brothel she was based at, she was able to visit clients in their own homes or out in the city. It didn’t sound like much of an advantage, but it still felt like progress, like potential freedom. Case in point, being able to sit at the bar after an appointment and excuse it as marketing for new clients. In reality she was doing that, but she was also enjoying the safety of such a lauded venue. No one, not even a Kovali, would seek to harm her with so many influential and reknowned spectators. It was nice to feel comfort for even a moment.
Only that was interrupted rather abruptly by the man roughly gripping her arm. She would always be proven wrong in hope. Her drink, a very sedate apple juice, sloshed over the side of the glass and over her hand. She had to swap it to her free arm so she could set down the hazard. Was scanning from the side of her eye, about to make an attempt to shift so she could estimate who the man was, when he spoke to remove the necessity. Hotel security allegedly, just taking out the trash, and informing it (her) not to make a scene. It was never enjoyable to be judged, or made to feel ashamed, but this time it was sadly amusing. She had done everything right, been incredibly subtle when exiting the hotel room, was dressed like she belonged, and certainly had the experience of keeping secrets and manipulating perspective. She was an informant for goodness sake. So the only reasonable conclusion was that someone had known. The security guard confirmed as much when pulling her along with him to the exit. She had to bite her tongue from asking how it would be that the man knew, or why it was that he wasn’t being chucked out for his experiences with her. Apparently desperate and undignified clients were immune to criticism. They’re almost to the door, Azra’s heels slipping as she tries to keep pace, when her attachment stalls. His grip stings but it’s the only thing that keeps her from stumbling. They had fallen into the path of someone entering from the lobby, and so the guard tugged at Azra to step out of the way.

Having finished her business meeting, Meliha was walking through the lobby towards the door to the parking garage with Mike when her eyes narrowed at a situation unfolding just outside the hotel bar. Meliha remembered that she had seen her inside earlier in the evening and although she was likely looking to pick up a client, she hadn’t been hurting anyone or causing a scene. When the young woman was pulled out of the way rather roughly, Meliha’s anger surged and she stepped in.
Holding a hand out and indicating to her security guard that she would handle it herself, he nodded and stepped back. Her smile was bright for the girl and then she turned an angry look at the man holding Azra. “There you are! We’re late for happy hour!”, she said. “I’d appreciate it if you let go of my friend. I won’t ask a second time.”, Meliha openly threatened the man, nodding towards her own security. When he seemed to study Meliha and then reluctantly let her go, Meliha slipped her arm through the other woman’s and began to walk back inside with her. “Come, if I hadn’t had to come find you, I’d already be on my second drink by now!”, she said, making sure the guard heard it clearly.
