Not quite right

“I like your dress!” is acceptable. “You! In the red blouse! You’re gorgeous!” is also acceptable. “I like how your dress clings to your ass, sexy!” is NOT acceptable. “You! In the red blouse! Nice tits!” is also not acceptable.

Let’s put it like this.

If your “compliment” refers directly to:

a person’s ass

their genitals

their breasts (or lack thereof)

how much you want to have sex with them

how you want to have sex with them

wanting to have sex with them against their will

seeing certain parts of that person’s anatomy (sexual or not) in a specific, sexual act

calling the person a name that is considered ‘degrading’ or involves profanity

‘pet names’ on a stranger

then it is not a compliment, it is catcalling, and consequently, is harassment.

So as I was saying. There’s a line. “Hello, beautiful.” is alright. But “Hello, beautiful. Those lips look perfect for sucking my cock.” has crossed that line.

A ‘hey you look really pretty!’ can be very different coming from, say, someone cheerfully as I’m walking by and they leave it at that, or from a dude who forcefully sat next to me on the bus and is giving me elevator eyes.

Men are so fucking predatory though and think all women are fair game. It doesn’t matter how much we signal that we don’t want to talk to you, like earphones, books, and even no I’m busy go away. Men are super creepy about it, and act like sulky piss babies when you tell them to leave you alone. The amount of times I have been bothered on a outdoor photo shoot, because they “just wanted to talk to me” is really frustrating. They don’t give a fuck I’m actually busy, because they are too busy thinking they want to pull.

Some men will ask for my number because they “really like me and wish they could see me again” when they have just seen me in the street??? Even claim they love me?????Then act even more upset when you say you don’t give your number out. It’s like dude, that’s fucking creepy you know nothing about me. Then they start acting all dramatic about what if they never see me again. Then can even follow me if I move on.

So you go around assuming all women want you to sit next to them and talk at them because of the hypothetical ONE WOMAN who may respond positively at it?

Men legit go up to women who have headphones in and head down in the cell phone/book they are reading, which is the clear sign of “LEAVE ME IN PEACE” and call them everything but a child of god when they are ignored.

I don’t believe in choosing the lesser of two evils. The country needs a radical change. Most people are complacent in the fact that they have very little say in their political process, they aren’t motivated to change it because they can get by well enough or they’re convinced that action is useless. 

To say the choice is between Trump and Hillary is to say either you support an extremist xenophobic racist government that is willing to throw away your rights based on your race and country of origin…Or you support a slow progression into the same. If you put a toad into hot water it will struggle to save it’s own life, if you put it into lukewarm water and slowly raise the temperature it’ll sit complacently as it’s boiled alive. 

Here’s how you start social change:

Openly talk about your ideas with confidence to the people that you know. Make a youtube video. Make a twitter post. Network with other people that feel the same AND people that feel differently. Ideas build on each other. 

Start an organization; get your friends together. Start a student group in high school, college. Make a facebook group to talk about it. 

DEBATE with people. Don’t be afraid to argue. Your ideas are powerful and important. 

Make fliers and distribute them. Make them online if you want, distribute them by email.Start a mailing list.Make a banner. Advertise what you want, what you believe and why. 

Donate money to what you believe in. If they give you or if you purchase logo items, wear them.When people ask you about it, be open to talking about it.

Stand by your own principles. Whatever you believe in, apply it across the board. Live your beliefs and apply your actions to it. Don’t compromise on what you believe in. This also means DON’T support organizations and businesses that work counter to your principles. 

Devote to it. If you really believe in something, how can you help? Does an organization need volunteers? Can you work for them? Do you have skills that can help? Maybe the place you work for can help. 

Ask questions of yourself, of your sources and of other people. Examine your beliefs and others.
