.::Thanh - The Keeper of the 7th Gate::.

Started practicing in a somewhat realistic paint style, and since Thanh's design was finally... finalized, I decided they'd be a perfect subject.

The Creation of the World A Melancholy Fates Story

 A long time ago, back when the skies were full of nothing but suns and stars, there were beings known as Death and Life. They wandered through-out time and space, leaving behind planets and destruction in their wake.

After some time, Death came across Life as it cried over a little blue planet. When asked why it was crying, Life answered, “I’ve tried and tried to create a world, but it was so hard that I got frustrated and started to cry. The little planet caught all of my tears, and is now filled with too much water. There’s no room for anything else!”

Death thought for a moment, and replied, “I can make more room, if you’ll let me.” Life nodded its head, and Death dipped one finger into the water, making it wither and dissipate, until dry earth could be seen. It did this many times, all over the planet, until the planet was speckled with water and land.

Life smiled and thanked Death for its help. Death, entranced by what it had done, watched as Life began to blow over the planet, creating wind. It then began to take small pieces of itself and sprinkled it over the planet. Strands of hair fell onto land and sea, forming vegetation. Bits of bone and flesh made up animals, and flecks of soul became will and awareness. Before long, Life had a planet filled to the brim with beings and creations. 

Soon after, Life realized that all the beings and creations were stuck in a frozen state, for there was no time on their planet. With Life’s light and Death’s darkness, they created two beings; Time and Shadow. Death, realising that it would not be quite right, formed a great 3 legged crow and had it splice Time into three. From then on, Time became Past, Present, and Future. Shadow was left to wander the world, imitating all that lived, and always running away from the sun’s bright light. Afterwards, the beings began to move, and the world was right again.

But as time went on, the beings began to reproduce, and Life began to fret once again. It realized that with no way to stop it, the world it had created would become full once more, and would lead to its own destruction. Looking up at Death, Life asked, “Is there any way to prevent this?” Death thought and thought, and came to a solution. It created 7 gates, each with its own keeper. “I will guard the first gate,” it said, “and will lure souls through. Then the souls will pass through the gates of Collection, Judgement, Damnation or Cleansing, Fate, and finally Rebirth. In this way, the world will not fade, but simply be reborn through a never ending circle.”

I’m going to lean towards yes, mainly because Fin and Toxen were supposed to be really important figures to her past. Not to mention that while she’s off saving worlds and discovering who she really is, Suki’s wondering where the hell she went and dealing with her stalker all by her lonesome.

Gabija’s terrified of water, but she’s learned to live with that fear, and she’s working hard to make sure it doesn’t hinder her decisions when they’re important.

Aislinn’s afraid of fire and Aidan’s afraid of the whole hospital scene, so they usually just avoid both like the plague. Aislinn’s a bit better at handling her fear than Aidan is, but both get near hysterical when faced with their fear.

Suki’s fear is hard to pin down, because she’s already been through so much that nothing really scares her. I think the most prominent one would be she’s afraid of being close to anyone and intimacy. Her solution; stay away from people and run away from affection (Gabija is the only exception to this).

Dimitri also has some emotion-issues; his way of not getting hurt is by not caring.

Kieran’s simple; he’s afraid of losing Suki, so he keeps constant vigilance on her.

And we have:

Normies: Suki, the heroine and object of Kieran's affections. Gabija, the best friend and support.

Gatekeepers:  Kieran, the 2nd Gatekeeper with an interest for Suki. Dimitri, the 3rd Gatekeeper who sees his job as entertainment. Aidan, the 4th Gatekeeper with a penchant for pain. Aislinn, the 5th Gatekeeper with a healing nature. The mysterious Fates that guard the 6th gate. Thanh, the 7th Gatekeeper who is not as they seem. 

Until a few days ago, the story of Suki and Kieran was at a stand-still. The two main characters had been created, backstories worked on, and some of the side-cast had begun to appear. 

Then, a few days ago, the main elements that had been missing suddenly sprang into my mind. The story can finally get underway. Here's what we have so far:

~Suki's backstory and relationship with Kieran and Gabija

~Kieran

~Gabija's backstory and relationship with Suki

~The main structure of Kieran's work (more on that later)

~The Calamity Twins (Aislinn and Aidan) are now canon to the MF universe

~Most of the major roles are taken; two characters have yet to be officially designed

~While Gabija's important to Suki's background, she has yet to find a role in the current plot of the story.
