I really do have the best timing

I met someone nice, and then found out I had to move for work. So we called it quits since things were just beginning and we were on the cusp just before it got too serious. Then I got drunk and suggested that things could and should continue. The problem of course is I was never sure what they would continue as. The initial trajectory of the relationship was clearly one that would see us becoming the other’s significant other if given sufficient time. But the monkey wrench of the move, coupled with my selfish desire to keep things going, left me unsure of very important things. I feared I was wearing out my welcome as their career began to take off. At the same time I battled with the question of whether our 'seeing each other' meant it was exclusive or simply a causal coming together of consenting adults. And of course I never actually followed through with having a meaningful discussion to hash out these concerns and make a level-headed decision. Then I thought it was done with because they didn't return my text the same day, even though I was aware they were on a work trip.
