I hate my birthday

It sounds wrong

Why should I hate a day made to celebrate me?

When I get cake

And presents

And I should be full off joy

Well for my 14th birthday

It should’ve been special

It was my last summer before high school

I wanted to get ice cream with all my friends

My best friends wouldn’t come

They didn’t like my boyfriend, or another boy and girl I invited

Thought they were “weirdos”

Ignored by my favorite people on my day

For my 15th birthday

It should’ve been special

It was my “golden birthday”

I wanted to spend the day with my boyfriend and our mutual best friend

They ignored me all day

Cracking their inside jokes together

Barely speaking a word to me

Ignored by my favorite people on my day

For my 16th birthday

It should’ve been special

It was my “sweet sixteen”

I wanted to spend the day with my best friend

She ignored me at work that morning

Ignored all my texts

Then barely spoke to me when she showed up for dinner that night

Ignored by my favorite person on my day

Why should I like my birthday?

All its done is disappoint me
