archie has two slowbro—a male kantonian slowbro that he nicknamed ❝ pinkie ❞ , and a shiny female galarian slowbro that he nicknamed ❝ goldie ❞ . despite their differences, the two are very close and are considered to be a ❛ bonded pair ❜ of pokémon. their relationship is like that of a brother and sister. both pokémon were adopted by archie when they were slowpoke, and they both were adopted in the galar region.
through a series of unfortunate events, pinkie, a kantonian slowpoke at the time, found itself in galar, on the isle of armor, and in this unfamiliar environment, it did not thrive. rejected by the island's slowpoke population as a whole, pinkie fell into a deep depression and almost died from starvation and loneliness. he was discovered by a kindhearted lady from the isle's master dojo, who then contacted a galarian pokémon rehabilitation program, and it was here that pinkie met goldie.
goldie was a particularly sickly galarian slowpoke from the isle of armor. like pinkie, she too was rejected by the island's slowpoke population, likely due to her general weakness. it was theorized that her sickliness could be tied to the same genetic code that caused her alternate coloration, but that theory proved to be inconclusive, despite all of the testing she underwent. what could be definitively concluded through testing was just what was troubling poor goldie. it turned out that she was immunocompromised, suffering from a disorder similar to hashimoto's disease. she was treated and rehabilitated by the same organization that came into custody of pinkie, and after being introduced to each other, the two of them bonded very quickly.
archie adopted the two from this galarian rehabilitation program shortly after he founded his own rehabilitation program (some few years after the events of ORAS). not long after their adoption, the two of them evolved into slowbro only a few hours apart. (goldie evolved first.) after having been adopted by archie, both pinkie and goldie have been thriving and living their best lives in the hoenn region. both slowbro can confidently hold their own in battle, and pinkie is capable of mega evolution.
