June 30, 1953 - The first Corvette rolled off the Chevrolet assembly line in Flint, MI. It sold for $3,250. GM hand-assembled only 300 units of this inaugural 1953 model in Flint, Michigan. Every single one of these first-year cars was identical: painted Polo White with a red interior and a black soft top. They were powered by a 150-horsepower "Blue Flame" inline-six engine paired with a two-speed automatic transmission.
