I tried to get an allergy test to figure out what chemicals I could be allergic to since I get hives randomly from perfume and facial products and they sent me away saying the only place that would do a test like that is hours away and I’d have to take time off work to come in multiple days a week to do an over week long test. They didn’t even give me any allergy test, they just sent me away. I took off work for that appointment for what could’ve been said up front when I scheduled (that they didn’t have the test for me).

I couldn’t afford the time off work, I couldn’t drive over 2 hours to a different clinic multiple times a week.

I tried to get help for my chronic wrist pain that’s only getting worse. I’ve been trying for years. I’ve been through months of PT, I’ve had X-rays, MRIs, and then had a hand/wrist specialist say my wrist is fine and he doesn’t know what else to do other than steroids (but steroids don’t tell me what’s wrong with my body). I went back to my GP. Blood tests came back negative for certain auto immune diseases that it could have been. GP recommends we look into a hand specialist. I think “okay maybe that’ll be different because the last guy just looked at my wrist primarily?” I look at the reference- it’s at the same medical center. It’s a different doctor but he has the same title, works in the same practice, and works with the first one.

I’m losing hope.

I don’t think they can do anything for me. I’ve spent years in pain now, traveled for so many appointments, all to just end up back where I started at the same wrist place just one door down with a slightly different man.

I doubt he can do anything for me that the other one hasn’t already done. What more can he do? X-rays, MRIs, PT, blood tests- I’ve already been through all of this at this same facility.

I’m tired. I’m tired of trying to care about my health and do things right and at the end of the day not getting anywhere.

Is it like this in other countries?
