Ratchet is a vital asset to the team... And to his circle of friends. Ratchet's value lies not only within his medical expertise but also his strong moral character. Optimus can grow emotional, filled with both grief and anger when a civilian is dragged into their conflict with Decepticons. Ratchet steadies him, ensuring that he reactions rationally and not emotionally.

Ratchet also reminds him of his own faults, such as his tendency to overwork and not properly maintain his health. A dead leader is of no use, after all. "You did not need to. I had a feeling you were thinking it. I can not read minds, but I feel as though, due to how long we have known each other I can almost read yours." With a low chuckle his gaze drifts to Ratchet's work before drifting back to his fellow Autobot's face.

Ratchet blinks at his reply, frowning slightly as he considers the significance of the statement. "Mmrh... I suppose that could be beneficial, but it's also a bit worrying." How is he to get by with his occasional hypocrisy if he is too readable?
