Week 3

Brief Overview: We created a Project proposal we were all satisficed with and we started working on the basic parts of the project.

Challenges: We still have trouble communicating about what sort of story structure we wanted. We had trouble finding a beginning and the end that we both liked. I started modeling the assets needed for this project.

Successes: We managed to come up with a story idea that we all liked. We made a really good proposal video with no mistakes with our practice and teamwork.

Week 1

Brief Overview: This is the first week the team had together, we discussed our skills and ideas dot the term project.

Challenges: We still have trouble deciding on the story we will go with for the term project. We are afraid that the first story is too hard so we decided that it would either be story 2 or story 3.

Successes: We decided to come up with a name that we all liked team Lapis Lazuli.

Project Post-Mortem

Brief Overview: We created a environmentally friendly VR project over the course of about 10 weeks. The project's main tasks were implemented, and the final one was implemented this week.

Challenges: The hardest part was getting the nav mesh to work, I spent a very long time figuring out what I had to do to make the mesh work as intended. After a bit of help from my classmates, I figured out that the solution of the problem was to change the order of the nav mesh was loaded, after that it worked properly. I also found that the nav mesh was very difficult to get right, after a lot of trial and error I managed to get a mesh that allowed the player to move in a way I was satisficed with. There was also a minor bug in the task system, occasionally when the player starts one task while working on another, the text from numerous task prompts will appear on top of each other. We later found out that this was caused by having numerous instances of "topText"-type elements placed on top of each other and we decided to merge them to one instance of text, "topText1".

Successes: The team found the appearance of the new task and dialogue appealing and they liked the transparent backdrop I made for them. The dialogue system was very easy to implement and add to so I am glad that it was made this way. I also managed to change the way the task dialogue was implemented and that solved the bug as well as made the code more streamlined.

Number of hours spent on project: Including this week, about 45ish (at least 19 hours this week)

Week 9

Brief Overview: Wrote even more dialogue for the tasks, tried to implement the nav mesh function to Aframe.

Challenges: Having more difficulty working on the nav mesh than expected. I want to ideally make the camera move along the nav mesh.

Successes: Dialogue is written in a way that I am satisfied with.

Week 7

Brief Overview: Helped prepare for the Beta presentation as well as create Dialogue system for the project. I've also added basic movement buttons for the mobile users of this game.

Challenges: The movement buttons are not as intuitive as I expected, the camera only moves in the world space instead of the direction relative to the camera, so if the user is facing the -z direction and presses the back button, they will actually go forward, since the back buttons moves the camera towards the -z direction. I will have to think of a way to make this feature more user friendly.

Successes: The dialogue system is easy to alter and implement and my teammates appreciated my contribution to the project. The dialogue that I wrote for the first task was implemented as a part of the Beta demo. As well, the mobile interface somewhat works, so I will consider it as success as well.

Brief Overview: Wrote dialogue for the project.

Challenges: I was hard to make the dialogue sound natural, but also direct the player towards the next task.

Successes: I got most of want I wanted for the dialogue done. If my teammates want to change it, they are welcome.
