School Supplies & Uniforms for Kids
This summer Me & You is raising funds for kids and teachers in the DMV. Your donations will go toward shoes, belts, backpacks, and school supplies for students and teachers at Jefferson Academy, school supplies for kids at Forest Oak Middle School, and headphones for kids at Summit Hall Elementary School. The students that attend these schools are mostly from low-income families, some are homeless, and reside in temporary housing. Feel free to make monetary donations, or to donate items, simply shoot us an email and we'll coordinate pick up/drop off times. Thank you!

The days and nights are getting cold...
This season, we're raising $5,000 to help kids and families in need and the homeless within our communities. 80% of the funds raised will go to the kids & their families, and the 20% will go to those without a home. Please Donate Above. Thank you for your love and support!
Amount Raised: $5,942 December 16th, 2016
Kids in Need .
We’re collecting full-sized toothpaste & toothbrushes, shampoo & conditioner, laundry detergent and feminine hygiene pads. These items will be donated to the Linkages to Learning programs at two schools where families can take them home on an at need basis. These families fall under the low-income bracket, and at times move around often because of where and how long they’re able to secure housing.
We're also sponsoring 20 kids for the holidays with a focus on middle school students and their families whom sponsors are harder to come by because of the age group. We've partnered with Summit Hall ES and Forest Oak MS in Montgomery County, Maryland.
A Birthday A Year .
We're raising funds to give 18 girls and boys in the 2nd and 3rd grades a birthday this year. We've partnered with Summit Hall ES.
Those Without A Home .
We'll be giving out gloves, vaseline, trash bags, men's coats, sandwiches, fruit and hot drinks to those without a home this season.
To DONATE visit our CrowdRise and/or Amazon WishList
We're also selling winter hats and snapbacks. All proceeds go to Me & You. Message us on IG to purchase!
As always, thank you for the support and love.

Backpacks for Kids
This winter we wanted to help kids in our community. When I was a kid, we’d lived in government assisted housing in these apartments off Annandale Road, in Falls Church. I used to wake up in the middle of the night and go into the kitchen and roaches would scatter. I never felt that we were poor, or that I didn’t have everything I needed. I just thought, it was normal.
But I remember back then, Scholastic books always had Book Fairs and one time, there was this one book that came with colored pens that I wanted so badly. My mom would never let me order stuff because it was too expensive. But after much begging that time, she actually gave me the $9 to get the book. I went back to school the next day, and I was so happy, except, I couldn’t get the book because at 7 years old, I didn’t realize it was $9 plus tax. I didn’t have enough money, and the kid behind me bought it. It was the saddest day.
So back to present day. We had ambitious goals. I was having nightmares about toothbrushes because I was afraid we wouldn’t have enough. But with all of your generous contributions, we raised $1,395 in cash donations plus an estimated $1,746 in contributions (Our Amazon wishlist helped us add up everything). We put together 50 backpacks filled with toiletry items for kids in need and their families at Summit Hall Elementary. We also bought Christmas gifts for 8 kids - art sets, toys, clothes and toiletries (We spent 5 hours at Target & Springfield Town Center last Sunday. Note: I won’t be having 8 kids). The toiletry backpacks will be distributed on an at-need basis, and the Christmas gifts will be handed out next week at their holiday party.
On Christmas Day, we’ll be giving out socks, trashbags, and winter wear to those without a home on the streets of our city.
Thank you everyone again, for another successful venture. We wouldn’t be able to do this without you.

Toiletry Packages
This summer we decided to give out toiletry packages to those without a home. After our last project, we found many people were in need to items that would help with personal hygiene.
We put together 200 packages.
For women: underwear, nail clippers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, deodorant, chapstick, bandaids, shampoo, sunscreen, soap, Qtips and tampons.
For men: underwear, nail clippers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, deodorant, shampoo, sunscreen, chapstick, bandaids, hairbrushes, baby wipes, soap and Qtips.
We received $755 in cash donations, in addition to countless items. We used the funds to create 200 packages: 85 men, 69 women, and 47 unisex. We also bought 250 bananas and pears, 240 croissants and bagels, 98 granola bars and 355 bottles of cold water. Each package contained a handwritten note.
We distributed the items on Sunday, August 9th, outside the CCNV/Open Door Shelter, McPherson Square Park, Bethany Women’s Shelter, Clarendon/Courthouse and on parks and sidewalks.
We thank you for your contributions and support.
Warmth for Valentine’s Day
This year, instead of the usual self-loathing over how I was once again loveless on another Valentine’s Day, I decided I’d use that energy toward giving out some love for people who really needed it. I enlisted the help of my good friend, Ivana, and what began as a simple idea, became a whole lot more.
We are so fortunate to know such loving and generous people. We were able to feed and provide a little more warmth to more than 100 people in the city on this day, mostly homeless, in shelters and on streets. Thank you to all those who donated, the volunteers who helped us get the packages together, and our dear friends who woke up at 8 a.m. on a cold Saturday morning to help us distribute the items.
Happy Valentine’s Day
