When the Slippery Slope Becomes SacredĀ Ground Sometimes the cry of āThatās a slippery slopeā is not discernment. Sometimes it is fear wearing the clothes of faithfulness. Fear can convince us we are protecting truth when we are actually protecting comfort. It can make the familiar feel sacred and the unfamiliar feel suspicious. But throughout Scripture, God keeps meeting people in strange places, wilderness places, disruptive places ā places that looked dangerous at first, but became holy when someone was willing to stop, listen, and take off their sandals. Maybe the better question is not, āCould this become a slippery slope?ā Maybe the better question is, āCould this be sacred ground?ā...
