It's not everyday that you go to dig up your potatoes and the start moving, that's what happened at MCSL this week. 8 tiny spuds with legs, heads and cute little eyes came tumbling out of the ground when the volunteers went to harvest the potatoes in the sustainable farm. After a little wash it was found that these cute little guys are baby Eastern Long-neck Turtles. I must say that it never fails, cute baby animals always seems to stop any work going on around here.
Great articular on our Residential Windcore Turbine
Why should we be making our own juices when we can simply go down to the store and buy them? Well the answer is simple the store brought juices are either watered down or pasteurised which takes away some of the nutritional value. Juicing is also a great way to get the nutrition that we may otherwise be missing out on because we either not eating enough of certain fruit and vegetable or we just don’t like them. We can hide the taste by mixing them we fruit and vegetables that we don’t like. We are also told that we should have a variety of foods from all the colour groups:
· Red
· Blue/purple
· Green
· White
· Yellow/orange
This isn’t always possible, but if we make our own juices we can pack more colours into our day.
The best juices with the most nutrition will always come from the produce that you choose, to make quality juice you need to use quality produce. In other words fresh is always best and organic is even better.
There are always some drawbacks to anything good. The one thing I hate about making juice is the food waist. So what do I do with the mush left over from juicing? Well you can always chuck the veggie waist in a soup or casserole, but there is lots more that you can use it for. Want to learn more join the free workshop.
Fun Day Out

Controlling Good and Bad insects in your Garden
After spending your time making a no-dig-garden or vegetable patch in your back yard the last thing you want is for your hard work to be eaten by something else. No one wants to come down to see their lettuce nibbled on by bugs. So what do we do? You could go down to the local garden centre or hardware store and by some chemical sprays, but the trouble with this is you don’t just get rid of the bad bugs. These sprays also kill off the good bugs in your garden; the ones that help pollinate or eat the bad bugs. It also means that the vegetables that you have grown to eat are covered in chemicals that you and your family put into your mouths. You could try using a home garlic and chilli spray, but there are other things that you can do that do not involve the use of chemicals. To learn more why not book into our FREE workshop
