SAM: So, is that a yes?

SAM: I don't know. Wherever you find it. Will we have to google it?

KITTY: It's a yes.

SAM: I think my little brother and sister have been the only other people in my bed. But they don't really count. But no. I do want you in it. I mean, it'd be cool.

SAM: Maybe you could show me?

KITTY: How could a girl say no to that?

SAM: You didn't think I'd want to sleep with you?

SAM: Ohh. Right. Maybe I should look at one.

KITTY: It's your bed. It's...personal. I don't know. Maybe I'm just thinking about it too hard. The only person who has slept in my bed other than myself has been Sugar. It's your space.

SAM: Well... yeah. Unless you wouldn't be comfortable with that? We can just hang with the tree house if you'd prefer.

SAM: What's a Monet?

KITTY: Oh no. I mean...I would be okay. It's you. I guess I was just--well. I don't know what I was. Just surprised. Not in a bad way.

SAM: So you'd be staying here for the night? We can stay in my room. A bed beats the tree house.

SAM: I mean, I guess I did a little. I mean, I've always thought you were attractive, but t wasn't until we were really talking that like, feelings happened.

SAM: I plan to 😘

KITTY: You want me in your bed?

KITTY: Exactly. I'm a Monet, babe. From far away I'm obviously the bee's knees, but up close I can be a little bit of a mess.

SAM: I wouldn't argue with that either.

SAM: Kind of? I really like you. But even if I didn't, I don't think my opinion would change.

SAM: I like using it.

KITTY: I'm just finishing up my English homework. I could come over afterwards? I can tell my parents that I'm going to Sugar's for the night.

KITTY: If you say so. Though, I have to ask if you have ever really known me without liking me? Not that I'm complaining, but it's not like we knew each other before we, like...you know. Got the feels.

SAM: Treehouse it is then. Though I can't say I'd complain having you on top of me again. I could keep you warm.

SAM: I think you're pretty close.

SAM: Which word?

KITTY: If you want to keep me warm then maybe /you/ should be the one on top of /me/.

KITTY: Yeah. Maybe. That's just because you're, like...the sweetest person ever and you happen to kind of like me.

SAM: Oh yeah? Everything's still set up all nice. Unless you prefer the mats :P

SAM: You think everything could be perfect?

SAM: Confidence, babe.

KITTY: God, no. Don't get me wrong, I don't think that you underneath me could ever be a bad thing, but it's much better when I'm not shivering because of the cold.

[A BEAT]

KITTY: I think that /I/ could be perfect. Somehow. For now it's a work in progress.

SAM: I miss you.

SAM: I don't think anything is ever gonna be perfect. As long as people make choices, there's always gonna be something not right. Basic human error and stuff. But yeah.

SAM: I knew it.

KITTY: I miss you, too.

[A BEAT]

KITTY: It's pretty cold out tonight. Some might even say it's cuddle weather.

KITTY: Hm. That's still a little hard for me to remember, but I'm a perfectionist, so. Makes sense.

SAM: I think you should let me keep being cute, and just come and make out with me. The tree house has been lonely.

SAM: 50's is like, that time where I'd have to come and knock on your door and ask your father for permission to date you and stuff, right?

SAM: You love it ;)

KITTY: Good to know that the tree house misses me. 😉

KITTY: Bingo. Thank God we're not actually stuck in the universal misogyny of all of that crap anymore. It's not perfect, but at least it's a little more spotty nowadays.

SAM: I could ask the same question.

SAM: It's a good thing I'm not like those guys, isn't it? Swell is a cheesy word?

SAM: I might have known. Maybe.

KITTY: Quit being cute when I can't make out with you.

KITTY: It's the best thing. Well, not a cheesy word, per se, but me just sitting here and ogling what you're texting me while saying stuff like "Oh, gee. You're swell" is all kinds of 50s.

SAM: Only for you.

SAM: You don't have to thank me. I just wanted you to know.

SAM: I mean, technically you'll be the first to know :P

KITTY: Mmm... How the Hell did I get so lucky?

KITTY: I do. Not a lot of guys would be as patient as you. It's...I don't know. A bunch of cheesy words are coming to mind, like "swell" and "super".

SAM: You're not wrong.

SAM: Oh, right. I totally knew that. Was testing ya. Y'know, I'm ready to be official whenever you are. No pressure, just putting it out there.

SAM: And it does matter. It matters to me a lot.

KITTY: I knew you were too good to be true. You're totes the secret bad boy.

[A BEAT]

KITTY: I know. And I'm...really thankful that you've been so patient with me about this. More than you'll know.

SAM: Just me and my imagination.

SAM: You do a very good job. A celebration of?

SAM: Wait.. I never asked. Is it like, a date? Am I meant to dress nice for it and stuff?

KITTY: Sounds like a dangerous combo to me.

SAM: You know exactly what I mean.

SAM: Adding to it? This just to tease me now?

SAM: Always.

KITTY: I haven't the faintest idea, actually.

KITTY: I do love to tease you. But no. This is...a celebration. All of it.

SAM: I swear you say stuff like that just to drive me crazy all the time.

SAM: Are you surprised?

SAM: Mhmm. Always.

KITTY: Stuff like what? ... 😉

KITTY: Not at all. I know you better than that. But all of this just adds more ideas to my already stellar weekend plans that I had for us.

SAM: For now. You're gonna be begging to bend the rule before I am. Totally 😉

SAM: I'm definitely more interested in the treasure map now.

SAM: I'm counting down the hours.

KITTY: We both know that you're way more likely to beg between the two of us. I will admit to liking a good bend here or there, though.

KITTY: Oh? That's a change in tune.
