“What? No way.” Steve sighs before returning to staring at the screen, thumbs restless as he accidentally makes his character walk into a wall. He’s not even playing for the sake of playing; he just needs a good distraction and nothing has been cutting it lately, so engrossed he is in trying to figure out what the hell he’s been doing. He’d vowed to never get involved with anyone else after a few Tinder dates went wrong upon his initial move to Los Angeles, and yet he’s worrying his afternoon away over someone he barely sees once a week, if that.

His surprise over Anna not dating is genuine. Her face is almost cherubic, some soft quality that’s rare in his opinion. He’s certain she has her own demons but then again who doesn’t? Here it seems to be more common than back home,  as if the city has a type and they’re drawn to it like moths to a flame. Steve possesses enough self awareness to know this also includes him; that he’s no exception, not special in that regard. “Well people here suck, so I guess you’re saving yourself the trouble.”
