So this was the second assignment in class where we choose a animal (My choice was fox) and just went at it. Â We had to do 6 or 8 illustrations -I canât remember- in one class period. Â I finished early and did 10. Â My friends had to stop me. Not sure if I want to show the other 2 but here are 8 of them. Â I really like them and enjoyed doing them. Â

Unfortunately this year I wasnât able to do the full 24 hours of 24 hour comic day, but in the spirit of it we did a smaller assignment, 4 pages in 4 hours, for my Comic Media and Concepts class. The comics I made over the summer for my mini-anthology Venti really prepared me for this because it helped teach me what I can do with straight black and white and how to create a finished-looking piece in a short amount of time.Â
This piece is really personal, I actually made this the day before my consultation for HRT, so I think my anxiety over that sort of influenced the subject. I also get asked why I picked the name Delta a lot, so I figured it would make as good a story as any for this.Â
Be sure to keep an eye out for this in Volume 2 of Delta Church Semi-Annual! Iâm slowly but surely building up content for it, so itâs on its way!
Part 1 of a âWorkâ series in Concepts and Metaphors. Job - Grade School Teacher Descriptive Word - Growing Concept - All of the children have a plant sprouting from their heads - an indication of their mind / brain / comprehension level and growth! Done in a mid-century modern style. The words on the chalkboard are âdogâ in different languages - which will relate to the second half of the project, a Hollywood Animal Trainer!

Tumblr is gonna resize this really terribly, but hereâs my homework for comic media and concepts this week. The assignment was to do a 1 page comic with a minimum of 25 panels in it.
Not my favorite assignment but it has some good points. Â When I add a yellow background, I like it more.

Iâve been meaning to post this for a while, but hereâs another project from my Comic Media and Concepts class. The assignment was a two-page panel-less strip, but I went a little overboard;; Oddly enough everything I made that week was focused on the growth cycle of mushrooms.
This comic was experimental for me in a lot of ways; before this, the last time i worked panel-less was the comics in the margins of my high school notebooks, honestly. I also used this as an excuse to explore limited color palettes, simpler forms with little/no lines, anthropomorphization, and cyclical, silent storytelling.Â
While I did like how it looked in spreads and printed and set side-by-side, I think itâs very well suited to the scroll of web formats as well. Iâve been trying to spend more time considering the format my comics are presented in, and I think itâs starting to pay off a little.Â
Itâs a little rough because of deadlines and how long it ended up being, and I wish I had more time to spend on it, but maybe Iâll be able to revisit it over break or something, who knows?
