The dawn air is rife with chalkdust as the conscripts gear up. This is their final stand, and each is ready to defend their creative freedom and free pricing to the last. Ember looks out over the streets below, her mods at her sides, and smiles grimly. She steps forward, and her voice rings out through the morning air. "Artists!" The rebels stand, each eye trained on her, and she waits for one particular artist to stop gossiping down a sidestreet before continuing. They cough, embarassed, and only when the streets fall totally silent does she continue.
"Our battle stands ahead. I will not lie to you. Many of you may not make it out the other side with your drive intact, and those who would wish to enslave us to the corporate empire are strong. Our odds are not good." The artists begin to mutter to themselves, and she holds up one oversized paw. "BUT! Do not forget who you are. You are artists. You dream the things those in the cubes below could never begin to imagine! Your ideas are what makes the world turn. You're the face on every billboard.
The color in the water that they drink. The books that line their shelves, and the music that flows through the streets at three AM! You are here! You are everywhere! You cannot be silenced, because they can't make a sound that could ever drown you out! You are artists, and this fight is one we cannot lose!"The streets erupt in cheers, and Ember grins, the sun rising at her back and bathing the artists below in golden light. Today, the war truly begins, and Ember knows that today, the artists will not falter. Though the fight will be long and hard, she has faith that those that follow, and those that will follow them in the years to come, will stand strong.
This is their world, and it will lay in glorious colorful splendor before she is done. "Take up your pencils," she cries, "Your paints! Your tablets and your violins! Take up that which those who cannot understand us fear! Today, WE FIGHT!"
