Yes! Once you have created a house for an animal you can go back to them and offer a completely new house. Each time you have to select a big house. You have to keep going back to add more rooms each time, this is the pattern:

- one room

- two rooms

- two rooms on the first floor or basement:/second floor

-bigger main room on the first floor

- even bigger main room

- largest main room

in my beardo room, i had to ask about 3 times before i was able to get a big main room, a room to the side and a second floor
