EEK i love love love this question thank you anon! there's so many but i'd HAVE to go with max and nancy since i feel like she's the first woman max has actually looked up to and idolised in a way she hasn't really experienced before. they're like sisters to me and i feel like max would really crave that in a relationship since the only female friend she's ever had is jane 🥹

i also really love max and eddie! i feel like they'd be such a chaotic duo but simultaneously the type to know everything about each other due to their shitty situations and living so close which eventually forces them to interact. one of the reasons why i love season 4 so much is because i get to nitpick little bits of information about max's relationships with the older kids and develop them into something more (eg. eddie and steve being max's older brother figures she so desperately wanted but never really had due to her strained relationship with billy)
