Perfecttt!! I donโt know if you do platonic but can I request John Logan helping Garrett grahams " little " sister fix her skates since sheโs a figure skater but thereโs something wrong with them and theyโre both all flirty until Garrett comes downstairs to drive her to the rink and hes very suspicious of them but lets it go
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐: john logan x garrettโs sister
๐ค๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ : double-entendre jokes (??)
๐/๐: i need more dividers and to learn how to flirt. english isn't my first language. this might be a bit bad. i tried xx
the hockey house has always felt louder than it should, considering everyone living there is a university student. maybe itโs because every briar hockey player ended up hereโtestosterone and bottomless pits of men. but today, it was unusually quiet.
garrett doesn't really like seeing me around here. growing up, i'd always complained that garrett never let me tag along with him and his friends.
looking back now, i kind of wished he'd kept that rule. because somewhere between starting university and spending every other afternoon at the hockey house, john logan had stopped being just another one of garrett's friends.
it had happened gradually.
at first, he was simply logan. loud, sarcastic, always inventing abbreviations that don't exist.
then he became the guy who remembered i competed in figure skating.
the guy who asked how competitions went and actually waited for the answer instead of nodding politely while looking at me with those beautiful brown eyes. and then he became john.
somewhere along the way iโd made the catastrophic mistake of developing a crush on him.
because he was garrett's best friend.
and if there was one thing everyone on campus knew about garrett graham, it was that he took the role of overprotective older brother far too seriously.
meaning absolutely nothing could ever happen between me and john logan.
i was still trying to convince myself of that when my skate decided to betray me.
the blade shifted beneath my hand with an unmistakable wobble.
"oh, you've got to be kidding me."
i look up to find logan leaning against the foot of the stairs. iโm sitting on the floor in the entryway. iโve only just arrived and donโt want to get too comfortable since i have to leave soon.
โi think my skate's trying to kill me.โ
he frowned, walking over without a second thought.
i handed it to him, trying very hard to ignore the fact that our fingers brushed.
people touched hands every day.
that didn't mean anything.
except my stupid heart apparently hadn't received the memo.
logan turned the skate over in his hands, his brows furrowing in concentration.
"i mean... i didn't know. i suspected."
he looked down, amusement dancing in those stupidly pretty hazel eyes.
"i skate on knives attached to my feet."
he ran his thumb along the blade before nodding to himself.
"you know how to fix figure skates?"
he looked almost offended.
"...that's not the same thing."
"give me a sec. i've got my toolkit upstairs," he said, standing. โdon't move."
he held his hand out expectantly.
i passed it over, our fingers brushing again.
the silence settled comfortably between us as he focused on tightening another screw.
i watched the way his fingers worked, careful and steady.
โif you break it, garrett's buying me a new pair."
"iโve never seen you fix figure skates."
"iโve never had a pretty girl ask me to."
he looked back down at the blade as if he'd said the most normal sentence in the world.
my heart, however, had other plans.
"i'm choosing to believe you say that to everyone."
i was so caught up in my own thoughts that i almost missed what he said.
"it's too big. i don't think it'll fit."
logan glanced at me before holding up both my skate and the screwdriver he'd pulled from the toolbox.
he said, a grin tugging at the corner of his mouth.
heat rushed to my cheeks.
get your mind out of the gutter.
"i mean... it's really big too, butโ"
he started to say, an amused smile on his lips as my cheeks burned.
โyou're the one who made it weird."
i narrowed my eyes at him.
"and yet you keep talking to me."
"yeah, because you're the one fixing my skate."
i jump when the front door opens.
he stood there with his car keys in his hand and his eyes moving between me and logan. and suddenly, painfully aware of our surroundings i realised exactly how close we were.
logan had already finished fixing my skate. at some point while i was too distracted arguing with him, he'd leaned closer to show me the repaired blade. his knee was still pressed against mine, his shoulder almost brushing mine, and from garrett's perspective...
i looked down immediately, because apparently making eye contact with my brother was beyond my abilities at that moment.
i quickly pulled my leg back and stood up, grabbing my skate from logan's hands.
โthanks.โ i said, trying to sound completely normal. "i owe you one."
logan looked up at me from the floor, that familiar little smirk appearing on his face.
i narrowed my eyes slightly. but i try to ignore him, and the murderous look my brother is shooting himโas i grab my bag.
โdon't forget my favour!โ
"you'll think of something."
the way he said it made my stomach do that annoying little flip again.
before i could answer, garrett cleared his throat.
i jumped slightly, remembering he was still there.
the human embodiment of a warning sign.
"yeah.โ i said quickly, grabbing my skate bag. "let's go."
