manga panel redraw! this was the most fun ive had drawing since i was a little kid! max is so special to me 🥰

Max is a giant sunflower for sure!

Giant sunflowers are actually really easy to grow! It's sort of crazy to start them from such a small seed, and weeks later it's this massive plant taller than yourself!

It's best to stake them so they have something to hold on to, if it gets windy, it can turn out bad!

Wherever the suns direction is, the sunflower head will turn towards it, it's super cool in a huge field of sunflowers.

But then I remembered that Max is adorable and cute but also there's a hidden badass in there that terrifies me.

Don't hate before I explain.

But Kenny's flower is definitely buckwheat!

Buckwheat is one hell of a flower/ covercrop.

It doesn't look like much, it grows really tall! Some of mine were about 3 feet tall!

At closer inspection the tiny white flowers are gorgeous and have lots of character.

The flowers don't last long however before they turn into seeds, the seeds can be used to make a gluten free ingredient alternative for things like pancakes.

On top of all of that, the plant is a natural pest preventer and pollinators LOVE IT. If you have an empty space it's never a bad idea to throw some buckwheat seeds to help out your local bees in need <3

You can throw it around taller plants as well to prevent pests (slugs etc.)

Buckwheat is also an amazing cover crop, if you have a section of garden that needs a bit more nutrients, grow buckwheat in it for a season and till it over!

i’m super balls at drawing anime (and by extension lit everyone from the only series i’ve ever felt significantly attached to)

i am, however, reasonably competent at drawing semi realistic portraits
