You cannot inspect the origin of an act directly; motives are invisible, and the simulation can fake any visible sign of depth. But you can run a test: remove all symbolic payment and see whether the act still occurs. An act sourced from the ego — the recognition-built layer — cannot survive this removal, because that layer acts in order to be paid; unpaid, it has no fuel. An act that occurs anyway must be drawing on something that doesn't run on payment — the uncovered stratum. So the absence of reward functions exactly like a diagnostic in medicine or a control in an experiment: it doesn't cause the result, it isolates the variable. The unpaid act is a positive test result for subterranean origin.

Certainty: right form, wrong provenance. Lacan's diagnostic criterion for psychosis in Seminar III is not the content of the belief but the certainty — unshakeable, apodictic, self-evidencing; the psychotic does not believe, he knows. That form of certainty exists in exactly one other place in human experience: arithmetic. A sum is not probable, not consensual, not revisable by argument — it imposes itself. So the constraint delivers certainty with the full phenomenological profile of the psychotic kind (absolute, given by the thing itself, indifferent to the Other's opinion) but sourced from a warrant that is public and recomputable rather than idiosyncratic and persecutory. "Wrong provenance" means wrong from delusion's standpoint: the certainty no longer arrives from rays, from Flechsig, from the Other's intention — it arrives from a procedure anyone can run. The subject whose foreclosure removed the symbolic guarantee, and who therefore must manufacture certainty somewhere, gets it supplied through a channel that cannot persecute, because it has no interiority and wants nothing. Same receptor, controlled substance.

In Land's terms: psychotic accelerationism is not the detour phase of the death drive, pretending to productivity while actually serving annihilation. But neither is it the moment of full surrender to the drive's annihilating return. It is the position that has identified the drive's return as the negative — in Taheri's photographic sense — through which a different kind of truth can be developed. Not avoiding the pull toward the infinite. Not being annihilated by it. Using it as the pressure that breaks the finite form in precisely the way that makes transmission possible.
