nickymathesonâ:
âShhhh, hey,â Nicky hushed her whimpered words, pulling her to him with his slender but large hands, drawing her further into the bed. It reminded him a little of when sheâd first come to Opulence and heâd occasionally sleep on the floor next to her. The first time had been an accident, following times had mostly been when she was trying to get used to the pack. Now she was fine, now she didnât need it, but in this moment? Maybe she did.
Wrapping arms around her middle he pulled her to his chest. âCome here, you always protect me, you protect everyone,â Nicky insisted, resting his forehead against her shoulder. âIf you whisper then Iâll be good, no loud sounds and Iâm good, yeah. We have to make sure youâre good.â Nicky nodded his head, recalling how long it had been since theyâd been close like this. He touched her all the time, fingers on her thighs when he rubbed them, nose in her hair when they hugged, but holding her body to hisâŚit had been years.
She watched as he pulled her down towards him and Maxine didnât fight it. Max wasnât a stranger to falling in bed beside Nicky. They had done it for years, when sheâd first arrived it was a grounding ritual. Then they had grown up. Maxine didnât need it or Nicky was busy. But right now Maxine need to feel that safety net again, she hadnât felt this feeling of free falling in years.Â
His arms wrapped around her and Max tucked her head into the crock of his neck as he rested his head on her shoulder. He smelt like home. âEveryoneâs okay, everyoneâs okay. Mom, Dad, Ryden, and the pack. Everyone is okay.â The words were the same that had been playing in her head all day.Â
