Lin Ling was a lonely kid. With no parents, no money, and no Trust, he was picked on relentlessly by the other kids, and the adults never did anything to help. One day, he was on the rooftop, bloody and bruised. He had had enough. Just as he was about to jump off, a hand shot out, and Lin Ling was dragged back to safety. Landing roughly on his ass, he was shocked to seeâŚjust some guy? (Racking through his memories, he can recall passing him down the halls and such, but theyâve never talked before, thatâs for sure.)Â
The guy looked at him curiously before holding out a can of strawberry soda to him. Lin Ling stared at it dumbfoundedly long enough that the man sighed. Taking a seat beside him, they just sat in silence. Even when the bell rang, signaling the end of the day, he still stayed. The sun was setting when Lin Ling finally broke the silence. The man didnât seem fazed at he's question and simply answered that he had time for him. That was what broke the camel's back, and Lin Ling spilled everything. About the fact that his parents passed away in a car crash and no one cared, and how the other kids would bully him relentlessly for having no trust, even though he had done nothing to themâ
The man calmly listened, not interrupting even for a second. After he was finished, the man got up and told him to keep going while handing him the can. He took it. It was cheesy and generic and exactly what Lin Ling needed, and he could only stare in awe as the man walked away, not having a single clue how much he impacted him.
Lin Ling, after that, grew obsessedâtracking him down in the yearbook (and hacking into the schoolâs server), he was able to find out everything about him. ( His phone number. He was a senior, two years above Lin Ling, and had average grades across the board (too average, in fact, like he calculated the exact scores he would need to pass but not enough to draw attention). The more he learned about him, the harder he fell until all his thoughts were about him and him alone.Â
But then he graduated and left, and just like that, Lin Ling was back in hell, staring up at heaven. He had a taste of salvation, but it was ripped away from him just like that. Lin Ling was pissed, and when thugs approached him, intent on mugging him, he snapped. Someone recorded him beating them up, and the next thing he knew, he was a hero. The next few years rushed past in a blur, but here he is, standing at the top of Heroâs Tower.
(He smiles as he looks down at his phone. X was currently in his bedroom, mindlessly scrolling through FOMO. Thereâs a room in the heart of Heroâs Tower, decked out in everything X has ever liked. After all these years, Lin Ling can finally have his heart back.)
