the final day!! this has been so fun! kinda makes me wanna write more. is that a weird thing to say? 🤔 probably not.
sorry i didn’t post this sooner! anytime i would try to finish it, i would keep falling asleep 😥 so i just took a small mental break.
day 9: prosthetics
cw: none.
word count: 786
“you’ve never told me where you got your legs from.” olvido curiously asked. big eyes full of questions.
“i haven’t?” maul responded. slowly looking down at his own prosthetic legs.
“not that i can remember. i’ve sorta always wondered…”
“you’re full of curiosity. many questions.”
“is that a bad thing?”
olvido questioned. maul shaking his head.
“no. however, if you must know, my legs were given to me by death watch.”
olvido nodded his head in understanding. gaze still set on the prosthetic legs.
“it’s quite fascinating how they made such. i’ve always wondered how people do it… make such things like this.”
“it takes years of practice to accomplish such.” maul added. “years of trial and error… success and failure… just like the power of the force, it can take years to master and put to use.”
“always bringing up the force in some way.” olvido chuckled. enjoying the few minutes of silence before an idea popped into his head.
“i have an idea! how about i draw some little doodles on your legs?”
maul scrunched up his nose in disgust. scoffing and turning his head away.
“absolutely not.”
“oh c’mon! it’ll just wash right off! this’ll be the only time i do it i swear!”
olvido begged.
maul gave him a frustrated glare. eyebrows creased, lips overturned.
“still no.”
“please~?”
“…no…!”
olvido crossed his arms and gave a long sigh. smirking sneakily and taking a marker out of his pocket. crouching onto the ground in front of maul.
“what are you doing?” he asked. looking down at olvido drawing little doodles on his leg. “didn’t i tell you no?!”
“yeah but… i don’t take no for something so harmless. you’ll be fine. like i said, it’ll wash off.”
maul growled deeply at an attempt to shove him away.
“i am not some… art project of yours. not a canvas. i am a master of the dark side. you misunderstand and you’ll deeply regret doing such things to me, olvido…”
“uh, huh. keep on chattering, dear. it’s just some simple little drawings. nothing more.”
all maul could simply do was groan and lean back. watching olvido distastefully for a couple minutes.
“there you go. all done. thankful?”
maul instantly sat up to get a good look at his legs. small doodles in blue of stars, hearts, and whatever else was considered ‘cute’. expression laced with disgust.
“of all the colors and things you had to do… why?!” he hissed. pinching the bridge of his nose.
“because! i thought it would look very flattering! now, if you’ll excuse me, i’ve got some important things i need to do.”
before maul could utter another word back, olvido was gone.
“that little-“
maul huffed. standing up and attending to his own duties. hands folded neatly behind his back, attempting to look professional.
“and just where have you been?” rook asked.
“with olvido… now where were we…”
“…what did he do to your legs…?”
maul didn’t even glance down. rolling his eyes in response.
“if you must know, he insisted on me being his little art project. i’ll wash it off after our discussion.”
“right my lord, sure you will.” rook spoke sarcastically.
“and you think i won’t?”
“you misunderstand. i think you will.”
despite his words, he never ended up washing them off. getting judging glares and cheeky laughs from his thugs.
“what could possibly be so hilarious?” maul asked.
“nothing… nothing…” icarus sneered. nudging his brother while gesturing to their lord.
“who did that to your legs brother?” scorn shot back. cheeky grin plastered on his face.
“if you must know, olvido did. in due time, they will be gone. now, quit messing around and return to your duties this instant.”
maul rigidly walked away though catching a bit of the brothers conversation.
“did you see it up close? there was little suns… with faces on them!” icarus laughed.
“and the little cats! can’t believe him of all people would let olvido do such a thing!” scorn responded back.
maul completely tuned them out.
however, throughout the past couple days, the drawings remained on mauls legs. still as colorful as they were before. olvido eventually began to notice such. curious as to why the drawings were not gone yet.
“so, maul.” olvido giggled. approaching him. “those drawings are still on your legs, hm?”
“yes. i am aware. i keep forgetting to wash them off.”
“forgetting? or you just can’t bear to wash off my little drawings?”
…
“exactly. but that’s ok. i know deep down you love them…!”
“i do not.”
olvido planted a small kiss on maul’s cheek. patting him on the back. leaving him stunned.

*No Beta, we die like the Jedi during Order 66. **Post Clone Wars Maul, Fem OC, Implied Sex, Off Screen Sex, If I Was Myara I Would be Okay with Being a Woman, Flirting, References to Maul’s past
Well I said I would bring her back, and so I did! Now as adults they can have adult conversations… Also in this cannon where Maul fucks, they totally banged. Who knows, if people want to see that let me know! Also, if you ever want to get added to a tag list for my fics, comment that below.
P.S. You may have noticed I didn't do day 6, this is because I was extremely busy, mixed with being insanely sleep deprived and had no ideas. This and day 8 are also a bit late, but should be finished tomorrow or Thursday! Love yall lots! <3
@maul-appreciation-week
Maul almost forgot her. It was about four years since their last meeting, and so much had changed. Steeped in his Master's plan, Maul never had time to foster any other relationships besides ones beneficial to Sidious. He was in a small dingy saloon on some backwater planet, just in the outer rim. A smoky haze filled the air causing people's shadows to twist and move in unnatural ways. He was sitting at a table, far back in the corner steeped in the shadows of a large overhang. Here he had the view of the whole bar and entrances. He was waiting for an informant about an upcoming spice shipment Sidious wanted destroyed. Maul felt a flash of anger flair up when the discussed time to meet up came and went. Much like his Master, he hated to be kept waiting. A small stir at the entrance drew his attention, distracting him from his frustration. A tall muscular woman had entered the bar, she was wearing standard padded armor, a uniform for mercenaries and other unsavory professions. It was a simple grey and black number, obviously battle worn and repaired. She had a sleek black helmet and a large gun strapped to her back. She moved with a confidence that came from knowing that she held the power in the room. People seemed to part around her as she made her way to Maul’s table. She slid into the booth in front of him and in a swift motion, took off her helmet.
Maul immediately recognized her tattoos and light purple skin. Her hair was cropped short with small green and black braids twisted along the top of her head. She flashed in a smile,
“Well, long time no see friend. How's that earring holding up?” Small gems studded her teeth and she had several more piercings than the last time Maul had seen her.
“Myara.” Maul said, fighting to keep a neutral face from the shock. He had last seen her when he went to get his earring she had done downsized. He had come after hours again and spent much of the night talking. Maul had always known that they never would have had a relationship beyond what they had now, but that night he had let himself hope. It was both of their first times, clumsy, confused, but they let it be that way. He had left early in the morning and never saw her again, until tonight.
“Why are you here?” He asked, surely she wasn't his informant?
She cocked her head to the side, the studs in her ears flashing in the hazy light, “I was told to meet you here by your Master of course. You know,” She lowered her voice to barely a whisper, “You never told me you were a Jedi. I knew you were force sensitive like me, but I guess you're at a whole other level.”
Maul grimaced, she thought he was a Jedi? His stomach revolted at the idea, and he was about to correct her when she cut him off.
“Not that it matters, I mean I've never worked with Jedi unless you aren't and you and your Master have a whole other thing going on. Not my business. What is my business is the information I have for you.” She reached into a pouch on the utility belt wrapped around her waist. Maul unclenched his fists and let out a quiet breath to calm himself. Like when they had first met, she assumed what he was. Sidious must have fed her some tale or she had noticed his Master's connection with the force and assumed they were Jedi. Despite finding the very idea abhorrent, if this was his Masters plan, Maul would take it in stride. He looked at the data disc. It was a standard issue encrypted disc, in order for him to access it he would need a code. Reaching into his robes, he pulled out a small stack of credits.
“For the code.” He said, sliding them over. She carefully counted them before putting him in her belt. She took a small pen and notepad out and wrote it down before folding it and offering it to him between two fingers. He plucked the note from her hand and read the code; 382225. It took him a second to realise why a sense of familiarity had flicked across his mind as he read it, the code was the year he and Myara had met. Maul felt Myara looking him over, making his skin prickle. Maul looked up to find her leaning on one arm, with a slight simile on her face.
“You know, you grew up well.” She said, “When will you be a Master?”
“Not for some time.” Maul replied. He glanced around to notice several people occasionally looking at them. No doubt they made a strange pair in this bar. Myara saw the flicker of his eyes and caught on to what was happening.
“Perhaps it's time I should go.” She said, picking up her helmet. She stood and holstered her gun. She turned to leave, but paused, “Would you like to continue this conversation somewhere else? I have a room nearby.”
Maul was about to decline, but something told him to do otherwise. He rose and gave a simple nod. Following her out, he kept tabs on the others in the bar, but nobody seemed keen on causing them any trouble. It was cool outside, the town was next to a large lake, causing intense humidity. The damp air clung to his skin as Maul and Myara walked through the empty dark streets to a small building. A red neon sign proudly advertised by the hour rates on one of its windows. A small metal stair went up to the decks at each level. Myara’s room was on the third floor, they reached the white door and she punched in the code. It hissed open revealing a small dark space.
“Well it's not much, but it's home until I can get off this world.” She said, turning on a wall lamp. The room consisted of a grey bed, a small table, and one equally grey chair. A small bathroom was off to the left. There wasn't even a place to store clothing or food, clearly this was not a place to live long. A black trunk had been pushed against the foot of the bed where Maul assumed Myara had the rest of her stuff.
“Do you have no way off world?” He asked, clearly she had gone the way of a mercenary or bounty hunter so it was strange for her to have no transport.
“I used to, but it was heavily damaged and I crashed here. I have been on this world for a few weeks now. I'm not sure how or why your Master found me here frankly. It's almost like he wanted us to meet again.” She said as she unbuckled her padded jacket. She had on a slim black shirt, revealing the chain tattoos Maul had noticed when they first met. It was strange, he thought, that his Master would ask her specifically to get the information, especially since she was stranded here. Maul knew Sidious was aware of Myara, there was very little his Master did not know about Maul.
“So, tell me what your life has been like the past four years.” She said, settling down in the chair. Maul chose to stand as the only other place to sit was the bed. Myara arched an eyebrow at this, “You can sit on my bed, it's not like we haven't shared one before.”
“Things have changed.” Was all Maul said, scenes of that night flashing across his mind.
“Right Jedi, no attachments right? That's too bad, it really is a crime to keep someone like you off limits.”
Maul wasn't sure how to respond, but luckily Myara answered for him. “Sorry that was rude, I just mean you're very good looking. But I understand, growing up I had some… strict rules too.” Her eyes got a bit distant, but she lightly shook her head and retrained them on Maul. “Take off your robe, stay a bit. I can make us some tea if you want.
Maul knew he should be reporting back to Sidious soon. He had a ship docked at a small yard on the other side of the city and should be on his way. But an old feeling was resurfacing, the same one he had felt the night he had met Myara. The thrill of a small freedom. Perhaps for this night he could forgo the cold steel of his ship and the quiet lonely hum of its engines. Maul watched her stand up and rummage around her trunk. She produced two metal mugs and a tin of tea. The wall near the bathroom had a small built-in water dispenser. She held the mugs underneath as hot steam rose from their mouths. Unscrewing the lid of the tin she put in two small white bags.
“Here, it's nothing fancy but I've grown to like it.” She said, handing Maul one of the mugs. A rich warm fragrance wafted up to his nose. Maul hadn't had tea before, only ever seeing it served during many of the meetings his Master had made him observe. He took a cautious sip and was delighted to find it a pleasant spice. He wasn't sure what the flavor was, but it left a warm earthy taste on his tongue.
“Like it? I got it from some merchant on my last job. He definitely overcharged me.” He gave a low laugh and took a sip.
“Why did you leave your apprenticeship?" Maul asked, last he knew of her she was doing well at the shop and was set to start working officially for them soon.
“Ah right, well it's a long story.”
“I can stay longer.” said Maul, placing the robe on a small table next to the bed and shrugging off his robe. He sat on the edge of the bed. It was an old lumpy thing, but miles softer than the one on his ship.
“Right. Okay well to start my family was uhh, very religious to say the least. They are the ones who gave me these tattoos,” she pointed to the small diamonds around her hairline, “I left them when I was around fifteen. I was able to get on a freight ship, but they kicked me off. So i was stuck and needed a job. I saw that the shop was looking to train someone so I applied. That's when I got these,” She held up her arms, “These chains represent what I left and help remind me why I keep going.” She was quiet for a moment, “ I was there for a little bit after you last saw me, but then my family found me. I was able to escape again.” She sat back down and took a long drink of her tea. “I got in with a group of bounty hunters. I guess they liked me enough to keep me around and train me. So now here I am. I left the group just before my previous mission.” Maul was silent taking it all in. He was impressed that she had learned the skill needed to be a bounty hunter, even only a semi successful one, so quickly. She must have guessed what he was thinking because she said, "I've always been a quick learner. My family has a long history with the energies that exist in the universe. I even had a sister go to be a Jedi, at least that's what I was told. I was too young to remember her. Perhaps you know her?”
Maul finished his tea, slightly disappointed to find it so quickly done. “I am afraid I trained away from the main temple on Coruscant. My Master preferred to keep me close to his homes off world." He of course couldn't tell her that he had in fact spent much of his life in the secret weapons manufacturing plant on Coruscant.
“I see. You are very mysterious, you know. Are all Jedi like you?”
“No, none are like me.” He said, a bit of sharpness slipping into his speech. Being compared to the Jedi was starting to get on his nerves, but he kept himself reigned in.
“I see.” she laughed. “Well how have you been? It doesn't seem like much has happened to you in the past years.”
“No, not much has changed. My training takes many years to complete.”
“Makes sense. So,” She leaned forward a wicked gleam in her eye, “What are your plans tonight? I know of some good places around here that cater to the more nocturnally inclined.”
“I am afraid my presence here must remain secret.” Said Maul.
“Of course, I understand.” Myara stood up and came over. She was taller than the last time he had seen her, her face was more angled and fine lines had been etched around her eyes. Maul wondered what she saw when she looked at him. Did she really think he was a Jedi? Her species was force sensitive, he couldn't imagine that she didn't sense the dark side that flowed in his blood. Did she see the well of power and anger that he used to execute his Masters plan?
“Hey, you've never told me your name.” she said, voice low.
“It is best that you don't know.” Maul said, as she sat next to him. The soft bed made him lean close to her. He could feel the heat of her skin and the familiar smell of an animal Maul couldn't recognise.
“Mmm perhaps.” She shifted and looked at Maul. Her deep brown eyes reminded him of the rich earth on the planets he loved to travel to and hunt. She let out a soft breath and before Maul could react her lips were on his. Maul jerked back, surprised at the sudden contact.
“Shit! Im so sorry, i- didnt think-” She stammered standing up. Her cheeks were a deep reddish purple, her arms crossed over her chest, hands worriedly placed on her neck. “I'm so sorry, maybe you should go. I think I'm tired and look I'm already making stupid decisions. Thank you for coming over and thank you for your business. This should be enough to get me off-world. Don't worry you'll never-” Maul raised a hand and she stopped her rambling. The kiss had awoken that thin shred of freedom he had so long ago. He grabbed her elbow and pulled her down. Her startled cry was swallowed by an aggressive kiss. Maul leaned back and Myara stumbled on top of him, her eyes blown wide open.
“I thought you Jedi couldn't-" She said, her hands planted on his firm chest. Maul barred his teeth in a low growl. Myara raised a slender eyebrow at that, “Well if it's one night I guess there's no attachment huh?”
Maul wanted to leave once she had fallen asleep, it would have been easier that way. But the thought of returning to his ship and going back to his Master had twisted itself into a small knot in his stomach. He looked at Myara, her braids a mess and mouth slightly open. Maul had recognized her as someone who was a survivor like him. Strong and attuned to the force, he could even see her being a decent Sith. But, he knew that could never happen. Forgetting the rule of two, he wasn't strong enough to be a proper Master. Sidious made sure to always remind him of that. He could feel sleep tugging on him, it had been several days since he had been sleepy longer than a few hours. He was about to succumb when a soft beeping drew his attention to the pile of clothes they had made in the corner. Quietly, he went over and pulled his comm out of the pile. It was Sidious. Slipping on a pair of pants he stepped out of the room. A quick survey of the force revealed nothing, so he accepted the call.
“Master,” he acknowledged.
“My apprentice, tell me the progress of your mission.” Crackled the voice on the other end.
“I have received the disc and the hunter took the payment. There were several complications, but I am on my way now.”
“Good, you have done well apprentice.”
“Yes Master.” Replied Maul as the call disconnected.
Maul leaned back on the hard stone of the building, looking over the rail. He had a good view of the small town, most of the other buildings being only a couple stories tall. He could see the sunrise slowly peaking over the lake, casting soft orange streaks on the waves. Several animals chased each other through the street. Out of the corner of his eye Maul saw Myara’s door open.
“I thought you left, but all your stuff is still here. I'm surprised you haven't." She said, her eyes bleary from sleep.
“I must go, my Master called me.”
“Ah right.” she paused, her hand on the doorway. “Will I see you again?”
Maul knew the answer she wanted to hear, but she deserved the truth. “No. My Master is unlikely to hire you again and it is best if we do not see each other again.”
She chewed the inside of her lip, "Isn't that just the way these things are huh. If that's the case, then I have something for you.”
Maul cocked his head to the side, confused. Before he could hask she disappeared back into the room and then reappeared with a small cloth wrapped bundle. “There's a guy here who is a decent leather worker. When I got this job, your Master paid me some up front. When he told me who I was meeting I knew it was you. I bought you these, I hope they fit.” She unwrapped the cloth to reveal a pair of black leather gloves. It had red stitching around the cuffs, nothing flashing but well made and elegant. “Please take them. They certainly don't fit me.” She laughed, but there was a hint of sadness in it.
Maul reached for the gloves. They were thick, but soft. He wasn't sure what animal they were made from, most likely something local. He slipped them on and was happy to find them fitting well. They would need to be stretched, but that would come with time.
“You look nice.” Myara said, leaning against the now closed door.
“I have to go.”
“I know.” Myara said with a soft sigh.
They went back to the room, Myara watching Maul get dressed. Maul was never good at goodbyes. He never had the chance to make them before. Instead he handed her a small device with a button.
“Is this a long distance transmitter?" She asked, looking it over.
“Yes.” Was all he said.
“I see… Thank you.” Myara watched him leave and couldn't help but feel a little more alone.
Maul took no time to get to his ship. He paid the docking fee and climbed aboard. He punched in the coordinates to his Master home on Coruscant. As his ship rose he looked over the town. It was starting to wake up, smoke curled from chimneys and several ships were already out on the sun bathed lake. Maul felt strange looking it over. Like something fundamental had shifted in him. He felt it every time he smelled the new leather gloves, or Myara’s animal scent on his robe. She was just another figure that formed his path to power and greatness. She will likely die in some shootout and be forgotten by history, but Maul knew he would remember her. He was no Jedi after all.
Last year I did my first concept of mando Maul so for the next prompt of @maul-appreciation-week I wanted to share more about this concept.
Day 3: "Mandalore"
Last three months ago I was working on the design of this Maul. I did a few more concepts but at the end I decided to use this design (thanks for the votes on IG in that time).
For this AU where Maul adopts the mandalorian way after the comic "Son of Dathomir", Maul becomes more cruel in his attacks and tactics. He wears this mandalorian armor after meditating and thinking in everything he has lost after arriving on the planet. He still wants to destroy the sith but instead of the help of criminal syndicates completly, he decides to focus in the tools that he has in his hands: The darksaber and mandalorians who blindly follows the one who has it. "Tools" that's what he reduces this culture at first. "Maybe if I pretend to be the ruler they want for some time, until I get what I want, they will be usefull" he thinks and at the end he will dispose them...that's what he thought it would be.
At the end he will grow and his perspective will change. Revenge is still a goal but after spending some time with his mandos, learning more about the culture, seeing the honor, the courage that most of them had, he slowly change his perspective of live.
He still has a grudge of mandos, but I believe that with help he will understand that not every mando that are under his command follows him blindly, they trully believe that he is the ruler that everyone deserve. So I think he slowly will remember his names, their faces, they won't be their tools anymore.
The weight of being a ruler is in his shoulders and he'll realize that sacrificing everyone will be his doom. (He learn that to well after order 66. ) So he will take care of his mandos, being more counscious about his desitions, the sith ways will be vanish in years, not completly but in a lower opacity than before.
Speaking of order 66, his duel with Ahsoka is more harder and goes different, but that is something I want to show in a comic.
So what is doing Maul as mandalorian? His goal is to eliminate the clan of Bo-Katan completly, destroying the empire, growing his clan and survive. Killing Sidious is his goal at first, but soon he will recognize that it will be imposible and that his power will not be enough, still he doesn't throw everything he build, he stays.
summary: Maul is scared of lightning and Devon tries to comfort him.
cw: hurt/no comfort. canon typical violence
word count: 856
a/n: late entry. this is short and not sweet </3
thanks again to @maul-appreciation-week for putting this event together!
Maul and Devon were grounded on some humid moon. Outside the viewport, the storm hung so low it seemed to scrape the grasslands. Lightning veined the sky, leaving ghosts of white light in Devon's vision. To the southeast, the clouds churned in a mass of pure black. A thin funnel condensed from the base, scouring the ground like an angry finger of a god.
From this distance, Devon felt safe enough to call the sight beautiful. She couldn't say the same for Maul, who was somewhere in the bowels of the ship pretending that he wasn't hiding. One of the many things she'd learned about him since becoming his apprentice was that Maul hated storms. He'd never admit to it, but it was obvious in the tension of his shoulders when thunder rolled across the sky. The way he incessantly checked the weather radar at the slightest drop of rain.
Thunder rattled through the ship, traveled up Devon's boot, and into her teeth. Hail tapped against the viewport like a few curious fingers, then burst over the transparisteel in a thick sheet as the wind shifted. Something tugged at the edges of Devon's awareness, and she slid out of the chair and left the cockpit without deciding to.
She found him in the aft cargo hold, which was dark and smelled like engine oil. Maul sat on a crate with his back to the bulkhead, one hand clenching a hydrospanner like a lifeline, the other resting atop a knee. His eyes were glued to a scrap of circuit board on his lap.
"Master?"
Nothing. He didn't even blink.
Devon approached him slowly. Another wave of thunder reverberated throughout the ship, much louder here than in the cockpit.
"Master?" She crossed the hold and crouched in front of Maul. This close, she could see his lips moving. Soundlessly at first, and then:
"Far above, far above, what once was great was rendered small."
The voice barely sounded like his. It lacked the gravel she'd come to expect. The words emerged quiet, careful, almost childishly obedient. Devon reached out and put a hand over his. Maul's skin radiated heat, even through his gloves.
The Force screamed in warning. She never saw him move. One moment Devon was kneeling, the next the cargo hold blurred sideways. She slammed against the bulkhead, blinding white heat shooting through her lekku. Her vision blurred; she gasped for air as her diaphragm spasmed from the force of the blow.
Maul was on his feet, a trembling hand extended in front of him. He bore the look of a cornered and wounded animal. It was gone just as quickly, and the world reassembled itself behind his eyes.
"Do not ever touch me again." Maul spoke with a cracked, ruined voice.
Devon planted a hand underneath herself and pushed. The cargo hold lurched violently and her elbow buckled. Something warm and wet soaked her collar.
The rage vented from him like a breached airlock. She blinked, and he was in front of her.
"Be still."
The last thing Devon registered was warmth and weightlessness before the world went dark.
Devon woke to the smell of bacta and drumming on the hull. Still raining, then. Thunder rolled overhead, a low and distant thrum. The pain in her lekku dampened to a dull cramp.
She turned her head slowly and found Maul across from the bunk. He sat on a chair, arms crossed, watching her. He tensed when their eyes met. The events reassembled themselves in pieces, and Devon felt anger simmer underneath the pain. She clenched her fists and looked away from him.
"You have a mild concussion," Maul said. "The laceration on your lekku has sealed. You will rest for a few days before we resume training."
She stared hard at the ceiling. "You Force pushed me to the wall."
"Then the lesson was effective," Maul said. "Did the Jedi permit such familiarity?"
"Lesson?" Devon scoffed and sat up, forcing herself through waves of dizziness and nausea. "You were mumbling to yourself. I was trying to help."
"I do not need your help—"
"I felt your distress through the Force!"
Maul paused, expression melting into nothing. "You know nothing of what you felt."
"Clearly not!" Devon's braced herself against the wall when she stood, head throbbing. Maul stood and took a step towards her.
"Do not push yourself—"
She glared at him, teeth bared, rage boiling in her veins. "Stay away from me."
Maul frowned. "You are walking a fine line, apprentice."
"What are you gonna do, throw me against the wall again?"
The words hung between them. Thunder vibrated through the deck of the ship. Maul's jaw clenched hard enough that the tattoos flexed on his face. Devon felt his conflict ripple through the Force. She clung to it, anything to keep from acknowledging the hurt underneath her anger. It didn't stop the tears anyway. She'd always been an angry crier.
"You—" her voice was wet. "You will always be alone."
She stormed out of the room, furiously wiping the tears from her eyes. Maul didn't follow her. They never spoke of it again.

day 4: wounded
summary: maul comes back from a mission completely beat up. letting olvido’s worry get to the best of him.
cw: blood, bruises, broken bones
word count: 617
“god… what the hell is taking him so long…? he should’ve been back by now…”
olvido muttered. pacing around, biting his nails in worry.
“lord maul will return in due time.”
rook spoke seriously. entering the room with a rather stoic expression.
“but what if he doesn’t?! i get way too much anxiety when he doesn’t return in time”
“well-“
“and don’t you DARE say ‘one such as yourself shouldn’t be feeling that way!!’ because i can have emotions. especially about maul. you know how i feel about him. you know what we are.”
before rook could continue, maul unexpectedly entered. limping slowly, holding his waist. blood dripping from his mouth and body. cybernetic legs sparking and damaged.
“MAUL!”
olvido shrieked. immediately running to his aid. helping him stand straight.
“rook. retrieve medical supplies, please…!”
“lord olvido-“
“WHAT DID I SAY?! GO!”
he protested. eyes wide with anger and worry.
“yes sir…”
she agreed without hesitation. tilting her head and taking her leave to retrieve the supplies.
meanwhile, olvido helped maul onto a nearby bed. propping his head up with a pillow, taking a seat near him.
“maul what the hell happened?!”
olvido demanded loudly. breathing heavily, hand on maul’s cheek.
“that’s… ngh- none of your business…”
“it is! you told me it wouldn’t take long yet you were out for over an HOUR! what happened?”
maul slowly steadied his breathing. squeezing olvido’s hand tightly as a way to ease his worries.
“ambush went wrong. i completely miscalculated just how many troops there were.”
“it’s alright… you can try again! take all of us with you.”
“it’s not that simple. not at all… i don’t think i would even take you….”
“but why?!”
olvido spoke loudly. huffing angrily.
“you never take me on any of your missions. im always here!”
maul hesitated. just from the look on olvido’s face, he just couldn’t bare to tell him. yet, he knew he had to be honest. especially with his partner.
“you’re… one of the only things i have left in my life… i don’t want to lose you as well.”
“but you won’t! i’ll be careful! why are you treating me like some child that needs protection?!”
olvido snapped back.
“please just… promise me next time you’ll actually take me. i can fight too, y’know. im not powerless. hell, we survived the clone wars together. that has to amount to something that i can fight my own battles.”
olvido kept quiet. at least waiting for a response or some form of communication from maul. all he did was nod slowly. hissing in pain, clutching his waist.
“i’ve retrieved the supplies.” rook said. carrying various medical supplies in her arms.
“good.” olvido nodded. “i’ll take his shirt off and help you tend to him.”
olvido proceeded to remove his shirt from his body. with rook disinfecting the wound lightly. maul grunting and moving around from the pain.
“quite moving, babe. do you want this wound to be infected and get worse than it already is?”
“…yes…”
“sarcasm! you know i love it!”
olvido spoke jokingly.
“i know you don’t mean it. sit still ok.”
“ngh… fine…”
once the wound had been disinfected and tended to, rook bandaged his waist cleanly. olvido tying it tightly.
“you need to take it easy now lord maul.” rook said calmly. “icarus shall tend to your legs later.”
“yes maul! take it easy!”
olvido repeated loudly. a forced smile on his face.
“shut up.”
he spat back. olvido wrapping his arms around maul. giving him a light hug.
“im just glad you’re alright.”
maul let out a light chuckle. rubbing his back and planting a soft kiss on his cheek.
“what?”
“nothing. nothing at all.”
day 5: rainstorm
summary: a quiet night turns into a shared vulnerable moment maul and olvido would never forget
cw: none
word count: 761
——————————————————————
the night was clear as ever. stars scattered in the sky, moons full and bright with little to no clouds in sight.
maul had been lying awake for god knows how long. a sleeping olvido holding onto him tightly. maul glanced down at his partner. moving a strand of hair away from his face. kissing him on his forehead.
“maul…”
olvido yawned. eyes fluttering open.
“go back to sleep, dear.”
he reassured. rubbing his shoulder.
“not until you sleep. how long have you been awake.”
…
“exactly. you haven’t even tried to rest your eyes.”
suddenly, a slight rumble was heard outside. maul freezing up and not moving a muscle.
“it’s just thunder. i suppose it’s gonna rain. shame. it was so nice this afternoon.”
as rain began heavily pouring down outside, maul kept steady. breathing slow, chest tight. his entire body going almost limp at the sound of the booming thunder and lightning striking outside. olvido immediately realized this. eyebrows furrowed with concern.
“maul. are you ok?”
…
“c’mon, babe. talk to me. im not gonna get mad.”
…
“…are you scared?” olvido said quietly. maul’s lips parting, yet no sound came from them. the only thing heard was the sounds from outside.
“it’s ok to be scared, y’know. even for some evil… dark… lord, you can be scared. i mean, im kinda scared right now too. during my time in the lab, anytime i would misbehave, my collar would shock me multiple times until i stopped. it felt like lightning striking me. im always so afraid that lighting will just… somehow strike us indoors and i’ll get that same feeling again. it hurts. like a lot just to think how it would feel on me.” olvido looked back at maul with a small smile. his body not so tight anymore.
“are you scared because… of a possible past experience.”
maul slightly nodded. olvido didn’t even think he would even say or do anything. though he had a slight hunch as to what it was.
“is it because of… him?” olvido quietly asked. maul’s eyes getting wider, his chest quickly moving up and down.
“hey, hey… it’s ok. he’s not going to hurt you anymore. none of it was your fault. none of it at all. it was all just… manipulation. something to believe that all of it was because of you when it wasn’t.”
olvido pulled him into a tight hug. softly rubbing the back of his head.
“i never fully realized how comforting you could truly be…”
maul whispered. olvido letting out a soft laugh.
“i try to be. especially in rough moments like this. you know im here if you need someone to talk to about anything. whatever you wanna say, i’ll be here to listen, ok?”
“…right…” maul agreed. “how can a sith like you with extraordinarily dark abilities be so… gentle?”
olvido barred his teeth in response. the corners of his lips tight. there was something. something that had been on his mind for a while. yet he had no idea how to voice that out to maul without him possibly lashing out.
“actually… there is something i’ve been meaning to tell you…”
“and that is?” maul spoke concerningly.
“i…i uh…” … “nevermind. it doesn’t really matter that much.”
maul glared at him frustratingly. yellow-orange eyes glowing menacingly.
“it matters to me. tell me now-“
“i forgot! sorry… i’ve been thinking about other stuff that i kinda forgot what i was gonna say!”
olvido nervously watched maul’s ever so suspicious face. with him possibly catching on that he didn’t really forget. however, his expression eventually softened. kissing olvido on the lips.
“go back to sleep. it’s late.”
“like i said before, not until you go to sleep.”
the rain continued pouring outside with no signs of stopping anytime soon. the sounds of thunder clapping and lightning striking heard beyond.
“let me be honest with you, olvido. i find it hard to rest my eyes. especially with this weather.”
“that’s why im here.” olvido spoke calmly. pulling him closer to his body. rubbing his back and planting soft kisses on his face. “if you want a clear mind, you must think of nothing.”
“nothing?”
“nothing at all.”
“well im thinking of everything-“
“then don’t! think of something that brings you joy… peace… tranquility… and just like that, you’ll be out like a-“
before he could finish, maul was already out. expression soft, breath light and warm.
“hm… there we go…” olvido yawned. cuddling close to him, closing his eyes, and finally going into a deep and peaceful sleep.

day 6: chastise
summary: with olvido’s recent epiphany of the darkness in his own home, he faces the one who had been ruining it all.
cw: slight implied sa
word count: 1,113
reminder: this is an au and is not canon to the original story.
“recently, i’ve been cursed with a numerous amounts of feelings… ones of dark and deep thoughts… one’s i cannot resist.”
olvido wrote. leaning back in his chair, thinking of what to write next. letting the pen guide his hand.
“throughout the past months i’ve been experiencing nothing but evil. those around me have seemingly dropped me like garbage. my workplace has fired me without warning. the flora and fauna that i so normally love has now been filth. and im not sure what to do anymore…” he sighed placing the pen down. closing the worn notebook and staring at the wall. dark and concerning thoughts filling his rotten mind.
“i need to get out!” olvido declared. standing up yet not taking a step. “…i want to move… and yet… i cant… why?”
his gaze led him to the wall of books on his shelf. picking one up and looking at the contents inside.
“perhaps one of these could help…”
olvido proceeded to go into a deep spiral of searching through book after book. every book he had looked through, however, led to nothing.
“these books have no sorts of information that can help… have i really fallen so far…?”
just when he was about to give up, he noticed it: the last book on the shelf. a deep wine red with a bit of wear to it and a gleaming gold spine though with no title. once opening, it immediately greeted him with a page. one about demonic entities powerful enough to manipulate people and things to their will.
“and all i have to do… is summon it… and chastise it…”
and so, that’s what he did. fetching a red marker, candles, and a lighter. dimming the room and drawing a large sigil in the center of it. lighting candles around the symbol. collapsing onto his knees in front of it.
“i can feel its overwhelming evil… corrupting my soul, piercing my veins…”
“and i can feel the goodness of your heart…”
a deep voice spoke. olvido immediately looked up and met face to face with the demon. red skin, black markings, long horns, and yellow eyes that stared into his very soul. frightening yet… beautiful.
“demon… i chastise you. you will continue with your evil no longer. leave me be and i will let you free.”
“it’s not as simple as you think.” he spoke menacingly. stepping closer to olvido. kneeling down to look at him eye to eye. soul to soul.
“i see that after my appearance, you wish me away no longer. instead, you want me to stay. correct, is it not?”
…!
“that is not true at all-!”
“i can see into the deepest depths of your very soul, young man. take my hand. and i will show you what hell is really like.”
olvido contemplated squeezing his eyes shut and taking the demons hand. ears ringing, body cold. once he opened his eyes, his gaze was met with nothing but fire. lava surrounding them. the only thing keeping them alive was the large rock they were standing on. skeletons burning in the distance.
“this is… hell?”
“indeed.” the demon grinned. tightly gripping olvido’s arm.
“let go of me! i demand you to send me back this instant and to leave my life immediately! i have no feelings for you! only ones of anger and frustration!”
“and that’s exactly what i want.” the demon muttered. in a blink, olvido’s neck had been bound by a large metal collar attached to a chain. the surroundings instead a dark, dim, empty cave. with only the waterfalls and pools of lava keeping it lit. the demon tugged the chain aggressively. olvido tripping and falling flat on his face.
“ngh- let me go…!”
“you struggle yet fail!” the demon hissed. sitting on a large stone throne surrounded by bones and decaying bodies. bugs crawling in every inch of the area.
“now, now… sit…” the demon snapped his fingers and before he knew it, olvido was on the demons lap. close enough that he could smell his terrible breath. teeth rotten, tongue split.
“what do you want with me…?”
“oh nothing much… seeing as how you struggle and how good you are… it’s almost as though you’re an angel in disguise. though all angels fall and turn into monsters eventually. cursed to face wrath and sin… like a mouse in a trap…”
“demon-“
“tsk, tsk… not my name…” he snapped back.
“then what is it?”
“…maul…”
olvido recoiled slightly. maul… what a curious name. it suited him nicely. a name filled with so much hate and evil.
“ok… maul… what’re you going to do with me? im nothing but ordinary. i have no abilities like yours. im nothing to you. and that is why you should let me go.”
“hm… tempting but no. you’ll be a nice little plaything for me to toy with.” maul tugged olvido closer to him. hand squeezing his leg, nails digging deep.
“such a good little angel… all to myself.”
olvido couldn’t help but cry silently. he’d been overtaken by a demon. something that, frankly, never thought would happen to him. his life that he knew before, friends and family… all gone in a firey, spiteful flash.
“it’s no use…” he thought. closing his eyes. “hate is too powerful for someone like me… i just can’t… perhaps this is my fate… my life… a toy for a demon.”
before the demon could even lay his lips on him, olvido snapped. recoiling his fist, and punching him clean in the face.
“GAH-!”
“you shall not hurt me no longer!”olvido yelled. stepping down from the throne, the demon in front of him. closing his eyes.
“…demon… i shall tell you once more… i chastise you. i demand you quit your toying around and leave me and my life free of evil… this is not a request, this is a demand. one you must follow immediately…”
“…very well then…” maul growled deeply. his voice piercing olvido’s thoughts. once his eyes were opened, he was home. in the humble abode of his own home.
“…i can no longer feel it… am i truly free?!”
olvido staggered to a stand. noticing the sigil on the ground.
“i… need to get rid of that…”
he chuckled. grabbing a wet rag and scrubbing it away.
“the demon has now been chastised and is rid from my life.”
olvido wrote smoothly.
“my friends have finally apologized, i’ve gotten hired at a better, more tidier job, and the flora and fauna are as beautiful as they once were.”
…
“though on occasion, i can feel the evil… creeping towards me… a voice in my head telling me ‘i can’t escape’ though i never fall for such tricks. good will always overcome evil. no matter the costs or circumstances…”

day 7: jedi maul
summary: olvido’s encounters with maul lead to a secret confession.
cw: none
word count: 853
reminder: this is an au and is not canon to the original story.
after years of pain and worry, olvido was saved from the lab. the hell that he had been through, the lies, and the loss… all had finally ended.
olvido was brought into a jedi training academy. with others thinking his powers could be used for a better, more fruitful purpose and for him to pursuit his own wants and needs.
at the academy, the students were placed into pairs of two in order to spar. everyone had gotten a partner except olvido.
“ah olvido! you’ll be placed with maul. he’s a zabrak just like you.“ the teacher announced. olvido looked to the side to look for this ‘maul’. once he looked back, there he was in front of him.
“uh… hi.”
maul shyly said. kicking the floor. though olvido said nothing and simply waved.
“you’re olvido right?”
“…mhm…”
“that’s a cool name.” maul remarked.
“t…thanks… you have a… cool name as well…”
“really?! thanks!”
as they began sparing, olvido couldn’t help but stare at maul though it all. he was so kind yet so quiet. his form and technique’s marveled him. so much so that he was knocked off his feet and onto the floor.
“are you alright?” maul asked. offering a hand out. olvido taking it as he hoisted him up.
“thank you… maul… your forms and techniques were rather… captivating to watch.”
“oh… thanks. you’re really nice. that’s a big word. cap… capti…”
“captivating.”
“right! that!”
ever since that day, maul and olvido became inseparable. whenever one of them was, the other was always in tow. sparing and goofing off constantly. despite their eventual changes in personalities, they always remained close.
“you didn’t tell me you were leaving on a mission.” olvido spoke. staring at the ceiling.
“i didn’t want to worry you.” maul responded quietly. “i know how concerned you get when im not here.”
“i know, i know… i just… want to always make sure you’re ok.”
“and i am.” maul snapped back. “always so concerned over me… watching my back.”
“because i care. not many do. so i have to be there to make sure.”
maul took a heavy sigh and stood up.
“olvido… come take a stroll with me. there’s somewhere i would like to take you.”
“really?” he spoke excitedly. immediately standing onto his feet and following maul down the hallway.
“i wonder how many other jedi have walked these hallways before us…”
maul chuckled softly.
“you’re always so curious. it entices me.”
“well, in a place like this, im always curious! how many have had a conversation just like this?!”
maul kept his gaze on olvido. listening to him ramble on and on.
“maul? maul?!”
…
“you ok?”
“me? yes. i was… uh… listening to you… talk.”
olvido’s face turned slightly red.
“oh… i see…”
he’d always had these feelings for maul ever since they were children. always. just the way he acted and how he looked, he was quite charming. though he doubted maul had feelings for him, it was a nice thought to think about.
“we’re here.” maul stopped in front of a average looking door. opening it and holding out a hand.
“you first.”
olvido nodded his head in respect and stepped in. though he couldn’t even believe what he was seeing. a gorgeous garden. filled with flowers and bright green grass. the sky above a light blue, clouds doting the sky.
“how… how did you find this place?!”
olvido marveled. watching a butterfly pass him.
“some of the young ones had informed me about it. i figured you’d like this place.”
“usually i’d doubt the young jedi but… for once they actually turn through… this is just… beautiful…”
the two proceeded to walk around the entire garden together. taking in as much as possible. smelling the flowers, teasing playfully, and taking a rest to just stare at the sky.
“do you have to leave?” olvido asked.
“afraid so…” maul responded disappointingly.
“how long will you be gone?”
“couple months… it depends… the instructor has intentions of training me somewhere where i possibly couldn’t get distracted.”
maul turned to face olvido. with him staring back. his ice blue eyes soft yet so warm. his skin pale and pearly. the sun making it shine brightly.

day 1: piercings
summary: olvido takes a liking to maul’s piercing. eventually deciding to get one himself using his own amateur skills.
cw: mention of blood, self piercing.
word count: 852
“…maul…
may… may i ask you something?”
olvido stuttered. hands folded together.
“what is it…?”
maul responded.
spacing out.
“where’d you get the uh…
…
the piercing.
on your ear.”
with how long they’d been together, olvido was surprised he never had fully noticed it.
him and maul had been through it all together. the shared pain, cringy moments, and the waves of emotion the two poured deeply into each other.
yet still, olvido understood little to nothing of it.
“that’s none of your business.”
maul answered coldly.
his gaze fixated on olvido.
eyes piercing his very soul.
olvido struggled to answer.
especially under his stare.
“you really can’t tell me?
…
is it from some ancient sith rite?”
maul offered no response. eyebrows furrowed in frustration.
“perhaps something you did yourself?
or mayhaps a companion?”
yet again, no response.
“or maybe… oh! your teacher gave it to you as a sort of… congrats! not sure what he would’ve-“
“that is enough.”
maul growled. face inches apart from olvido’s.
“you will stop asking me these petty questions.
understand, olvido…?”
“o-of course, maul. as you wish.”
olvido agreed. face slightly red. rising to a stand and wandering off.
“where exactly are you going?”
“i need to be by myself for some time.
if that’s ok with you…?”
maul sighed and simply waved him off with his hand. eyes closed, face stoic. barely caring at all.
“i’ve got my own business to attend to.”
“alright then.”
olvido wandered off by himself. pacing in hallway to hallway. breathing heavily. trying to get maul’s face out of his head.
“ever since i’ve met him, i’ve had such… conflicting feelings i’ve never felt before. i-i don’t understand. could it be…? no… im imagining things.”
eventually, the zabrak wandered into the sleeping quarters. lying down onto one of the mattresses.
“perhaps if i take a quick rest, everything will go away! that always helped me in the past.”
nonetheless, his mind wouldn’t let him rest. the insults and sayings kept swirling in his head like some makeshift carousel that he couldn’t get off of.
“urgh… what could i possibly do to get that… man off my mind?!”
that’s when an idea made its way into his head.
“hm… maul has a piercing… and that always catches my attention… so perhaps if i get one, ill get his attention! that way, he’ll compliment my excellent style with no sorts of frustration in his tone.”
olvido beamed. sitting up and gathering various materials. a needle, alcohol solution, a bowl of cotton balls, a marker, and a q-tip. bringing the materials into the bathroom and setting them on the counter.
“let’s just hope i don’t screw this up…”
he carefully began the steps one at a time. marking the spot at his cartilage, dousing it with a q-tip and alcohol solution, and finally, sticking the needle in.
“c’mon olvido. you got this… just… stick the needle in..!”
olvido squeezed his eyes shut. piercing the needle through his ear. body twitching in pain slightly.
“that couldn’t have been so bad-“
immediately when he looked in the mirror, his entire left ear was doused in blood. dripping from the ‘piercing’
“oh geez…
kriff, kriff, KRIFF!”
olvido yelped. attempting to clean up the wound with several cotton balls. with the area still bloody.
“maul’s gonna-“
“gonna what?”
olvido felt his hearts freeze. gaze meeting maul’s own.
“i-i…uh…”
“what did you do?”
“p-please don’t be mad at me…”
olvido begged. head hanging low. his bloody ear noticeable to maul. expression softening slightly at the sight.
“let me take a look at it.”
maul offered.
“sit.”
and so olvido did. taking a spot on the bathroom floor. maul kneeling down nearby. cleaning it gently.
“and why would you do such a thing?”
“…you know what?
i really don’t know.”
olvido chuckled. hissing in pain.
“an impulse, i presume.
getting yourself hurt on purpose.
irresponsible. coming from one such as yourself who claims to be oh so careful.”
“i know.
and im sorry…”
maul offered no response. cleaning his ear as gently as he could.
“now, hold still.. this needle is still lodged deep in your cartilage.”
“alright just be-
AUGH-!!!
WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU PULL IT OUT SO QUICKLY?!”
“didn’t i tell you to sit still?”
maul snapped back. tapping a cotton ball to the bloody wound.
“yea’ but… that hurt!”
“you’re way too sensitive to such pain. we’ve got to work on that. you’ve been babied for way too long. if you are a sith, you need to get used to pain such as this.”
olvido gave no response. remaining sitting on the ground. watching maul store away the supplies.
“are you alright, though?”
maul asked.
“me?
…
i think so.
thank you for… tending to me.
i appreciate it. really i do.”
olvido could’ve sworn he saw maul’s face turn slightly redder than it is. brushing it off quickly.
“of course.”
olvido staggered to a stand with a slight smile. the corners of maul’s lips slowly moving up into a warm smirk.
“once this wound heals, can i get an actual piercing?”
“no.”

day two: holocron
summary: mauls search for the sith holocron leaves him and olvido stranded as tensions unfold.
cw: arguing, slight abuse
word count: 972
just when he thought everything was fine, it wasn’t.
a mission, retrieving the holocron, leaving them stranded indefinitely.
“we’re really stuck here?”
“im afraid so.
we’ll have to adjust to our surroundings.
the longer we stay, the closer we’ll get to having all the knowledge we sought.”
“we?! WE?! I NEVER WANTED THIS! IT WAS YOU WHO WANTED IT!”
“really now? i could’ve sworn you wanted it as well. explain to me why you tagged along if you never wanted this.”
“BECAUSE OF THIS!”
olvido lifted up his hand. a dark obsidian ring on his finger.
“BECAUSE OF THIS, AND OUR PROMISES TO NEVER LEAVE EACH OTHERS SIDE AND TO ALWAYS SUPPORT EACH OTHER!
i may not want to do this… but i understand you do.”
“and so that’s why you tagged along?”
“precisely.”
“i see. very well then. come along now. let us scour the area.”
olvido nodded his head in agreement. taking maul’s hand in his own.
the only thing beyond the horizon were rocks upon rocks. though he could feel the darkness stirring in such a place.
“the power of the dark side is heavy down here. it’s overwhelming.”
“indeed. i feel it as well… tell me olvido. if you had the chance to get such a powerful object in your hands, what would you do first?”
“…what would i do first…?
cast aside our enemies. that way… we can be happy together. that’s all i wish.”
maul gradually let go of olvido’s hand. stopping in his tracks. nose scrunched, eyebrows furrowed.
“that’s all? happiness is what you seek?”
…
“i expected that from one such as yourself. you always had been the more peppy one.”
“in a clouded mind of negativity, one such as myself is here to sunset such.”
maul placed his hand on olvido’s cheek. stroking it with his thumb.
“such a gentle one, you are. im surprised. even for a sith.”
olvido’s breathing gradually quickened as he placed a hand around maul’s waist. pulling him closer and planting a small kiss on his forehead.
“i have my ways… though i haven’t asked… other than knowledge, what would you do with the holocron?”
“it’s simple: destruction of the sith and my greatest nemesis, obi wan…”
olvido groaned and shoved him away. arms crossed angrily.
“seriously? your obsession with him has gone off the rails. that man couldn’t possibly be alive.”
“you may not think so, but i do. and my so called ‘obsession’ with him is none at all. it is more… revenge.”
maul slowly perked up as his gaze met a large group of rocks. he slowly made his way up to it. placing a hand on the cold stone.
“olvido. it is here.”
“the holocron?”
“yes. now, come help me. with our combined abilities, this doorway will without a doubt open.”
“and the holocron will reveal its wisdom and knowledge to you.”
maul looked back at him with bitterness. eyes glowing in the darkness.
“you mean… we.”
“…i’ve already told you. i have no craving for wisdom nor knowledge.”
“i can tell it’s inside you and it is what you seek. now, come help me.”
olvido slowly stepped up to the doorway. reaching his hands out and closing his eyes. feeling the ground rumble beneath them yet not moving a muscle. sweat dripping down his face.
“i can’t tell him.”
olvido thought. hearts beating rapidly.
“what will happen if i do? my own worst secret…”
despite all the effort he attempted to put in, the door wouldn’t budge. with olvido crumbling onto his knees. staring at the ground beneath.
“i can’t do it. i-im just… not in the right headspace right now-“
“we’ll try again and again until we can open it. i can feel the darkness just behind here… it’s wisdom… the knowledge… it whispers to me.”
olvido giggles wholeheartedly. sweat still dripping from his face as he stood.
“what?”
“the way you word it… you have a way with words, love.”
“is that sarcasm?”
“maybe.”
hours passed. the two had done nothing but attempting to move the door. and yet every time, they had failed.
“are we just… not ready for its knowledge?”
“nonsense. this is nothing but a trial for us. to test our skills to see if we’re ready.”
however, yet again, no matter how much they tried, the door wouldn’t move.
olvido fell onto his knees. exhaustion finally getting the best of him. yet maul remains standing. determined to retrieve the item.
“maul. i can’t believe im saying this to you… but i think it’s time to give up.”
“nonsense. we cannot. stand up now. let us continue. with our-“
“MAUL!
i am EXHAUSTED! we’ve been at it for hours! no matter how much we’ve tried, it just won’t budge!”
“but why? what is this ‘headspace’ you’re in.”
…
“tell me.”
“I DON’T KNOW ALRIGHT! i really don’t know.”
maul forcefully grabbed his arm. pulling him up to face him.
“you will not quit. not on my watch.”
maul roared. his voice gradually getting louder.
“please.”
…
“fine. sit.”
olvido groaned in relief. sitting down on the ground.
“olvido. i… must apologize-“
“hit me.”
“what?”
“hit me. now.”
without hesitation, maul slapped him on the cheek. olvido remaining stoic.
“i should be the one who apologizes. i need to get out of this… these thoughts clouding my mind. i can’t understand them no matter how hard i try.”
maul kept his eyes on olvido. listening to him talk. nodding in agreement.
“i should apologize as well. dragging you down with me and forcing you to keep going when you couldn’t.”
“what do we do now?”
olvido asked. leaning his head on mauls shoulder.
“we wait. wait for someone. we try. keep trying until it opens.”
olvido sighed heavily. planting a soft kiss on maul’s neck.
“and so we will.”

cw: physical touch, kissing, cuddling.
word count: 875
once maul took the throne of mandalore, things had changed for the both of them.
maul had been a lot more polite than he usually had. close proximity forced between him and olvido.
yet, olvido understood none of it. why did he feel this way? why was maul actung stranger than usual?
he didn’t know the answer until maul told him.
“you have feelings for me.”
maul muttered. olvido planted on his lap while he sat on the throne.
“i don’t understand. what does that mean?”
olvido asked.
“it means… you love me.”
maul responded. giving him a heartfelt kiss on his lips.
“and i love you as well.”
ever since that fateful day, maul would spoil him with all the love and gifts.
“come now, olvido. i’ve got us a reservation at mandalore’s most high end restaurant.”
“all of that just for me?”
“indeed.”
“olvido. i’ve gotten you some of the finest jewelry in mandalore.”
“how much did this cost you?”
“that’s not important.”
“my shy, delicate flower…”
maul muttered. nuzzling against olvido.
“you’re too kind.”
it became very prominent that he was maul’s treasure. his property. his possession.
but olvido wondered why. he stood at the door of the throne room. pushing the door open.
“maul…?”
“yes?”
olvido stepped in slowly. standing by the door.
“there is something i must ask you.”
“…very well. come. sit.”
he took the invitation. trailing over and taking a seat on his lap.
“do you want to know… why you’re so special to me?”
“of course.”
olvido concurred.
“you’re one of the first people ever who has treated me with so much love… so much kindness. but i must ask you… why? why treat me as such?”
olvido took maul’s hand in his own. squeezing it tightly.
“you’ve done nothing but been good to me. despite me not knowing much about you and your story, i still see you as an unfortunate individual. one who has seen little to no love and care. and i want to return that. because i love you.”
olvido then brought maul closer to him. hand on his leg, other on his cheek. giving him a long, loving kiss on his lips.
“olvido… i love you as well.”
just before they fully continued, a mandalorian solider peeked his head through the door. watching for god knows how long.
maul immediately pushed olvido off of him. attempting to look professional despite what had just happened.
“what is it?”
“uh… am i disturbing you two?”
“just tell me what you want!”
the mandalorian strode closer. hands neatly folded behind his back.
“i am here to accompany you and olvido on your morning stroll.”
“how kind of you.”
olvido spoke. stopping maul in his tracks.
“let’s go maul. you know how much i love seeing the sights.”
“very well then.”
maul stood. interlocking his arm with olvido’s and leading him out.
“i always love seeing the goodness in this city.”
olvido remarked. eyes glued to the flora and fauna around.
“it’s always a delight seeing you marvel over such. i felt as though you would like such.”
“why do you do so much for me?”
olvido responded. giggling joyfully.
“i’ve already told you. you deserve it all as my partner. as my own item. especially one of such beauty.”
“you’re a beauty yourself as well, dear.”
as they continued their stroll, olvido attempted to interact with the various citizens. though with maul by his side, it was less than successful with maul by his side, of course.
“the people of mandalore are quite fearful of you.”
olvido remarked. looking at various pieces of jewelry.
“as they should be.”
olvido rolled his eyes in response. picking up a small silver chain necklace.
“this would compliment you well.”
“it would look stunning on you instead.”
maul shot back.
“oh c’mon, maul!
you rarely let me buy things for you.
can i buy this for you? just this once?”
“…ugh… fine.”
as the morning set and noon rose, olvido and maul had been at it all day. buying things for each other despite most items being treasures they possibly would never wear.
“im sure it’s time to head back.”
the mandalorian solider announced.
“as your leader, i refuse. you can return back to your post. i and olvido shall continue until we’re ready.”
“but-“
“now.”
“you don’t have to be so harsh.”
olvido huffed. watching the solider saunter off
“he just wanted to be at our aid.”
“we’re the most powerful on all of mandalore. we don’t need some measly solider at our aid.”
“true.”
and as the sun set, it became night. with the two in their quarters. snuggled against each other lovingly.
“today was fun. though we bought so many useless things that, i’ll admit, i’ll never use or wear.”
olvido chuckled playfully.
“and we’ll do the same thing again tomorrow.”
maul affirmed. rubbing his back gently.
“can’t we just enjoy each others company? staying in the safekeeping of our home?”
“our?”
…
“yes. i suppose we can.”
“thank you maul…”
…
“i love you.”
olvido cooed. closing his eyes, head on his chest.
maul slowly moved his hand onto his head. playing with olvido’s hair softly to not disturb the peace.
