Harry Clarke’s illustrations for Edgar Allen Poe’s Tales of Mystery and Imagination (1919).
Caravaggio, Nativity with St. Francis and St. Lawrence. In 1969 the painting was stolen from its hanging in the Oratory of San Lorenzo. The theft is believed to have been orchestrated by Sicilian mafia, and its whereabouts is still not known. In December 2015, a high quality digital reproduction was produced and installed in The Nativity’s former location. Made using high-tech digital analysis of just a single slide of the painting by photographer Enzo Brai and some black and white photographs from the 1950s, the reproduction is one of the best in the world.
