Totally forgot to post this... A few days ago I had a damn good 4-course, homemade Thai dinner with an expat couple from Texas who retired in Belize and opened up a restaurant and guest house. Very weird (but in retrospect invaluable and unforgettable) experience because there I was eating and drinking with the owners, the only one at their (very secluded) restaurant on the side of a cliff (probably a buried ruin) in the middle of nowhere Belize, with no electricity (candlelit), and after dinner I was told they had put weed into my food. It was awkward as I didn't know their intentions (and maybe a little worried) but they turned out to be awesome people, and we finished off at least 1.5 bottles of rum, and had some great conversations that I'll never remember what they were about.
