In honor of Fourth of July weekend, here is a brief 90-second squash video featuring Red Tyler, one of my Jobber Man-Crushes of the late 80s to early 90s. Red clearly loves his country, so he (foolishly) wore patriotic Stars & Stripes trunks to wrestle the freedom-hating sheik.
This is like waving a red cape in a bull's face!
This match occurred during the Gulf War with Iraq, so you will hear the commentators refer to the Iron ("Iran") Sheik as "Colonel Mustafa" instead. As if the Sheik was perhaps from Iraq instead of Iran. He would therefore embody the enemy, thereby inciting (and exciting) the audience when he dominates and degrades our American guy -- good old Red Tyler in his sexy USA trunks. (If Mustafa were still wrestling today, they'd need to revert his country of origin back to Iran just to keep up with our latest conflict in the mid-East.)
Anyway, we see the sadistic Sheik whip the proud American with his leather belt -- a rather homo-erotic flogging scene to start the match! Later he spits on the worthless jobber to demonstrate his hatred of our flag. America?? Hock - Pooey!
Lots of stiff Suplexes soften up the patriotic whipping-boy, who is then humbled in the back-breaking Camel Clutch. "Time to take a Camel Ride!" quips Bobby Heenan with delight. The Sheik keeps that cruel backbreaker held on for a few extra seconds, just to teach the cocky American a lesson in respect for superior foreign powers.
So happy 250th birthday, USA! I apologize if this humiliation of a proud American by our foreign enemy has offended you -- especially on this historic weekend (but for whatever reason, it really turns me on and always has.)
