Learn how the Internet actually works
The Internet is part of nearly everything we do on a daily basis. But do you know how it all works? From WiFi to IP addresses to HTML to keeping information safe online, thereâs a lot of important stuff going on that most of us donât have the opportunity to learn more about.
Today, Iâm so excited to share our new video series, âHow the Internet works.â
In six short, introductory videos, youâll get an inside look into foundational concepts of everything from wires to websites, taught by guest lecturers including the actual âFather of the Internetâ Vint Cerf, Tumblr founder David Karp, and creators on teams at Google, Spotify, XBox, Symantec, and more.

Available to students and educators worldwide
While these videos accompany Code.orgâs new high school Computer Science Principles course, we want our efforts to reach beyond our own curriculum. This series is the latest addition to our growing library of educational videos licensed through Creative Commons, which means all videos are available for educators to share with students worldwide, online or in classrooms.
This release means a lot to me. Itâs has been in-the-works for more than two years, since Code.orgâs small team was just starting on our vision to give every student in every school the opportunity to learn computer science. The idea itself, to help explain the basics of how the Internet works, for anybody to learn, has been one Iâve wanted to work on for over a decade.
I hope youâll watch âHow the Internet worksâ and let us know what you think. If you learn something new, share a video with a friend.
