“Well, that’s rude. I love your company, Matty.”
“So this is you trying to say you missed me?”
awadewithme:
“Do we… need to?”
“Let’s be real-- You wouldn’t kidnap me to go to the beach just to walk around and hang out.”
awadewithme:
“The beach and I…. have a complicated relationship.”
“Did you... want to talk about something?”
awadewithme:
“I don’t need a good reason. I’m punk rock, I do whatever the fuck I want.”
“That’s the worst excuse I have ever heard from you all fucking day, Sawyer. Don’t you hate the beach?”

“There better be a good reason why we’re out here...”
my hella creepy roommate (matilda & patrick) *flashback
awadewithme:
The idea of living in an all girls dorm, brought Patrick immediate satisfaction. His arms crossed with a tell me more’ expression, he was liking what he was hearing. He watched Matty banter back and forth with Lucy, completely tuning them out. He was a guy, he couldn’t help but really think about it. He smiled to himself, discreetly. At Lucy’s call, he snapped back into reality, clearing his throat. “I say yeah,” he replied quickly, a huge grin plastered on his face. He turned to Matty, completely smug. “Fannntastic,” Lucy mused, typing away. After a few moments, she clasped her hands together, facing the two. “Alright. You’re officially out, and have been listed as a commuter. I placed in our home address, just in case they decided mail anything to you so Gram and Gramps don’t have to be alerted by anything.”
Matty only stood there with her arms crossed and weight shifted to one leg. She couldn’t believe how easy it was for her aunt to simply bend the rules like that. She guessed it was because of the thought of her newly appointed position that got the woman so power high. Side-eyeing Patrick, she knew exactly where his thoughts were as that stupid smug expression on his face displayed its prominence. “Be careful now, Patty,” she decided to tell him with her own smirk. “Don’t go screwing it up for us... Literally.” It wasn’t that she wasn’t thrilled to have her best friend as her roommate, it was just more of her independence kicking in. Patrick wasn’t snoopy so she wasn’t worried about him getting in her business when he wasn’t welcome to. Maybe she could balance her two loves equally without tipping towards one rather than the other.

Tilting his head from side to side, Patrick’s eyes wandered over the crowd, in deep thought. He couldn’t help but day dream the consequences of failing, and how Rachel would resent him for it. If the blonde was completely innocent, Patrick would feel more sympathetic than guilty— but he was full on paying for lying to her, for much longer than he anticipated. Taking a deep steady breath, Patrick lazily motioned his head to his left, eyes quickly catching onto a black hooded figure. He paused, quickly pushing himself off the wall as he walked over to the guy. “Hey! Travis!” he called, jogging over to him. The two barely knew each other, but Patrick knew that Travis was notorious for his drug dealing in the boys dorm since the first day. The two shared a math class together, despite the guy only showing up once a week. Turning, he took off his sunglasses, nodding to Patrick. “Hey, man,” he greeted, the two quickly sharing a handshake. “Hey.. you got any on you?” Patrick was quick to the point, knowing that Travis was the same way. He reciprocated with a nod, momentarily surprised that Patrick was asking for drugs. He then nodded, stuffing his hands into his pockets. “Yeah, you look like a high mother fucker,” he chuckled. Patrick made a face, questioning his impression on others, but was quick to shake it off when he pulled out a black plastic bag. “Alright, whatchu want? I got some co—” “Anything, man. Anything relatively ‘strong’.” Nodding, Travis dug into the bag, pulling out a tiny Ziploc. “S’gonna be fifty, man.” With a heavy eye roll, Patrick groaned, taking out his wallet. This is fucking bullshit, he mentally cursed, exchanging the money with the Ziploc.
The carnival was beginning to hit a slump by the time Matilda came back from her dirty, dirty deed. She looked for Violet but she was nowhere to be seen; the brunette probably went on a break or something--something she definitely deserved considering how long Matilda was gone. It was better that way... Better in terms of Violet not seeing how anxious and stressed out she was getting just by the thought of what could happen not only to her, but to Deacon. She had just gotten closer to him as a friend, and if ever the whole thing blew over, she wouldn’t be able to live with herself not telling him that it was her who did it. He’d probably call her a coward, a name she wasn’t a stranger to, and probably leave her like her brother had years ago. She couldn’t stand being alone. Only recently had she been happier than she ever was--making friends at the absolute last year of high school, rekindling her relationship with her brother-- But no, the Geminis had to roll in and ruin everything for her. “What a great fucking way to start off the fucking year,” she said mostly to herself as she sat over the water of the tank.
Two boys approached the area mid-thought and asked, “Can we try? Or is this closed?” Completely thrown off guard, she smoothed the wrinkles off her dress and nodded. “Nah, give it a go.” She watched one of them shrug while the other picked up a ball. Wait a minute, she thought to herself as he prepared to throw it. This guy was on the baseball team... There’s no way he would mi-- SPLASH! “Of fucking course...” she murmured to herself as she resurfaced. The one who had thrown the ball jogged up to her and lent her a hand to which she took gratefully. After exchanging a few words of apology, she sent them on their way (relaying numbers beforehand), and began to dry herself. Even in that moment of blind flirtation, she still couldn’t shake off the burden she was feeling. There was only one thing that would calm her down. She needed her fix and she needed it now. Turning on her heels, hair wet and dress dripping, she headed to the lockers. It was just going to be quick... No one would even know she was gone.

Making a face at the dwarf beside him, Patrick rolled his eyes, not amused. What in the world could possess God– if there was one, to have him room with the possessed demon that is ‘Gerry’? Huffing, he continued to rub his eyes with annoyance, blocking out Matty’s sarcastic support. Peaking through his fingers and low hung head, he looked up when Aunt Lucy started to speak, as though she’d shine some sort of light on the situation. Opening himself from his slump, Patrick straightened his back when she stopped herself, then shooting a look at his opposing friend. “Don’t even what?” he stood, intervening. Lucy bounced her focus from Matty and Patrick, biting her lip with a shrug. “Matty’s roommate dropped out last minute… something about commuting. Since you two lived together for a while already… I was just thinking.. you know..”
“You were thinking nothing,” Matty quickly interjected just as Patrick was beginning to catch on. Her room was supposed to be her hiding place, the place where no one would know of her deepest, darkest secret. “I mean, it’s an all-girls dorm at my end. He’ll just get caught.” She reasoned with her aunt to the side so that Patrick wouldn’t really get what she was saying. “He won’t get caught because I’m in charge, Tils.” Lucy said simply, ending the conversation then and there, leaving the petite brunette speechless. “Look, like I said, Matty’s roommate dropped out last minute so I was thinking that since you two technically lived together once, you could it again.” Defeated, Matty sighed and shrugged her shoulders. “I guess that’s fine,” she replied in a nonchalant manner. There was no avoiding it without making her addiction obvious. “What do you say, Patty McPatPat?” Lucy asked, her hands already typing away on her keyboard.

Leaning against the entrance way of the fun house, Patrick dug his hand into his pocket, reaching for his phone. “Have fun,” he muttered lazily to the kids, running past him. Without much thought, he tapped onto the message icon, after hearing a notification going off. Patrick never really took the Gemini’s seriously; they seemed like a huge joke. Like, who the hell blackmails random teenagers for the hell of it? However, he swallowed hard after rereading the text for the fourth time. If Patrick’s secret was just about him, he wasn’t sure he’d care about following the Gemini’s orders. He didn’t know about everyone else, but this was not just about him. He breathed in deeply, keeping his cool as he nodded to a family walking past him. Fuck, me.
After a good thirty minutes, Patrick looked around and spotted James from afar, on time for their duty switch. He gave him a short nod, walking off towards the lockers not too far from the carnival. His first initial thought, was of course, the entire task of it all. It was ridiculous, but at this point, he was in no position to rebel against their word. Knowing ‘who he did’ last summer, was enough for Patrick to be convinced that the Gemini really did know something. Secondly, who was dumb enough to leave drugs in a locker? Then again, it could be a plain sight sort of situation. Pausing, Patrick realized he needed to ‘spike’ drugs. With a huge brow raised, he exhaled, feeling stressed. “Where the fuck am I suppose to get drugs?” he muttered, leaning his back against a wall.
Matilda spent a good thirty minutes trying to work up the courage to leave her post and look for Deacon’s bag. “Shit,” she proclaimed inwardly as she had forgotten where and what exactly his job was. “If I were the student council... where would I send Deacon?” She asked herself as she rounded the carnival. A twinge of anxiety pang in her chest at the thought of not being able to complete the task. In the thirty minutes that she was stagnant at her booth, she was torn between not giving a single fuck about the Geminis simply because she’d be just as terrible as they are if she didn’t own up to her own misdoings, and actually fearing they would be the reason why her brother would never speak to her again. There was so much to think about and so little time. She would lose either way, but one decision weighed more than the other. Growing more anxious by the minute, she quickened her pace. There was Giselle and Maverick’s booth on one end, Julia and Lucas’s... Pat and James’s...
Matilda was beginning to lose hope until a mop of familiar, brown waves entered the tarot tent. She was almost elated to see him, momentarily leaving the guilt on the back burner of her mind. Observing from afar, she waited until customers came into the tent before making her way to the side of the booth where their things were being kept. She then reached into her satchel and picked up the bag of “goodies,” she liked to call them, gently lowering them into what she knew was Deacon’s. Her hands were shaky as she closed the zipper. Instead of feeling relieved, she felt more guilty. It was just another secret she had to hide and another lie she had to tell to stay clear of suspicion. Her conscience nagged at her relentlessly and she could feel her mind and body shutting down... but she had to follow through, and that’s exactly what she did. The girl stood from her crouching position, trying to keep her head high as she walked out from the side of the tent. There was no turning back now.

“Do you have the right room or..?”
“I don’t know, I remember this being your room last time.”
“I think im going to vomit…” Maverick slowly sat up from a bed not familiar to him. “What–Where am I?”
“In the same place you came in the last time I saw you... which was last night.”
“– I know how it looks, okay? Just please, stop talking about it.”
“I, uh, I’m sorry. I’m just shocked that someone would even do this.”

awadewithme:
Patrick briefly looked Matty’s way, before completely turning his attention back to Lucy. He recalled the moment she announced to the two of them about her new job position. It was a late afternoon, and Patrick was at their house, as usual. In a hot second, Lucy came barging in, yelling about some new job. The position didn’t occur to Patrick until this very moment, where her assistance was very much needed. Lucy raised a brow, turning to her computer to look up Patrick’s roommate. “….Gerald Carpenter,” she said aloud, in attempt to recall his face. “Oh! Gerry!” she called, walking away from her desktop. “Oh, Gerry!” Patrick mocked, impatient. “Luce, switch me, please!” Her lips pressed into a thin line, she rolled her eyes, shrugging. “I can’t. There’s no more room in the boys dorm. It’s all filled up, Pat.” His expression fell, lazily dropping into the chair beside Matty. “Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck,” he groaned, rubbing his temples.
Matty couldn’t help a laugh as the name rolled off her aunt’s lips. “Gerry? As in “I like to speak to spirits in the halls,” Gerry?” She mused. Gerry was always weird. He stood next to her at orientation and wouldn’t stop trying to communicate with Charlie in that dumb pencil game. Now that it was mentioned, she remembered having said something about putting Pat with some weirdo... sarcastically, of course. But she figured Lucy had a bad sarcasm radar and probably thought the whole situation was all for a good laugh. “You hit the roommate jackpot with that one, Pat.” Matty ended up saying, her hand slapping the his shoulder in glee. “You could be ghost hunters together!” She then mimed a camera on her shoulder, getting the most out of the situation as possible. “I’m sorry, Patrick,” Lucy said to him as she completely ignored Matilda’s commentary. “I would have you moved bu--” Pausing in the middle of her sentence, Matty stopped in her tracks as well. Lucy stared crossly at her and then back at Patrick. “I think I have an idea...” Not catching on at all until the last minute, Matty stood up. “No, no, no. Don’t even...”
