I really hate doing self promotion, but I've got a lot on and it'd be a shame if people didn't hear about this imo because I think it's sick and deserves attention:
Me and the homie Jed run a micropress/cyberpunk art collective called Fixer Optional. What we mean by a that currently is "we're self-publishing but we like the sense of identity we get from calling it a collective", although there's always more room on the crew if someone's a good fit.
We do pretty much everything ourselves, including typesetting (had to relearn HTML for that), making cover art (or bringing in our friends), editing for each other, etc. Hyper independent, very punx, all that good stuff. Things are a little scrappy but we like it like that.
So far, our stock is two novellas that I've written, and I'd like to tell you about those under the cut;
Virtua Pop is a book of about 22k words, it's partly inspired by that guy who legally married Hatsune Miku, and explores the intersection of human sexuality with burgeoning artificial intelligence. It's dark, grimy, and horrible. LGBT protag, it is the future after all. Our main character, Zee, works as a rescue and rehab technician for smart sex dolls that have been damaged and thrown out and are now a danger to the public, but everything in her life changes when she returns home one day to find her computer singing.
Nil's Shroud is a bit heftier at 31k words. I wanted to write a death game story, being heavily inspired by outlaw comics and pulpy sci fi horror. I wanted to get some really good gory scenes off with this one. The story also explored themes of identity, counterculture, and the way a rich and powerful enough person stops seeing other human beings as the same creature as them. This one kicks off when our hero, a small-time male model, wakes from a seemingly random shooting to find himself disfigured by a brutalist metal speaker where his mouth used to be and live audience of gleeful monsters watching through his eyes.
Both are dark, gritty books, very inspired by the seedy street-level elements of the genre. My people aren't well connected jet-setters, they're in the trenches dealing with gang tensions, incomprehensible corporate-penned laws, and a constant background radiation of advertising and pollution. Well, they say to write what you know, after all ;)
So yeah, those are my books. We've got more on the way, Jed & I have co-authored a novel that we're in the process of typesetting. More on that when it's ready to launch, I've also got my debut solo novel coming up and Jed is working on a shorter one too that I'm really excited about.
Hope you like what you see, hope you feel like joining us in our journey to becoming the sickest cyberpunk art collective since the OGs. Not really sure how to end this post, so just imagine a Sopranos style cut to bl—

skipping the ad isn't enough...... i need to banish it. i need to murder it. i need to stab it to death. i need to blow it the fuck up. i need the developers to feel immense pain.
Done properly, rewilded landscapes are more fire-resistant.
Seeing today’s moors as timeless and natural obscures how changes made relatively recently – the past 150 years or so – has made the uplands increasingly fire prone. Data shows that nearly 80% of England’s peatlands are dry and degraded, while just 1% are dominated by water-retaining species such as Sphagnum mosses. Dry heather, for instance, can act as a fuse, carrying fire across the surface and, if peat soils are exceptionally dry, into the carbon-rich peat below.
Rewilding is not land abandonment; it requires carefully considered action to restore natural processes and functions. We must learn from the complex habitat mosaics that once characterised Britain’s uplands, while preparing them for a climate with no historical equivalent.
The task is to manage short-term transition risks while allowing ecosystems to reorganise into functional, climate-resilient states.
[...]
Evidence from more than 26,000 wildfires in Spain shows broadleaf woodland had the lowest ignition risk, while pine and shrublands were among the most fire-prone habitats. Even under extreme fire weather modelling, broadleaf woodland reduced fire intensity fivefold.
Yet Britain has lost the vast majority of its native woodlands. Today, only 14% of the UK is wooded, and about half of that is coniferous woodland – mostly in managed plantations.
The ecologist Oliver Rackham wrote that “English native woods burn like wet asbestos” – that is, hardly at all. It’s time these woods were restored to the parts of the British uplands they once covered.

Wild that incorporating ancient woodland (even if it is a PAWS site) into a Mineral Sites Plan goes against 1) national planning policy and 2) Kent County Council’s own policies on biodiversity and BNG.
Oaken Wood is under threat. Proposals to allocate Oaken Wood as a hard rock quarrying site will result in the loss of at least 41 hectares o
Not to sound like too much of a hippy but leave ancient forests the fuck alone. Trees are incredible lifeforms that we still barely understand, and while newly planted forests and rewilded areas are good, there's so much stuff in ancient forests that's just fucking irreplaceable in any real sense. I urge everyone to learn more about the subject, and to treat trees with the respect they deserve.
Hello! Sorry for the unexpected message, but I need to tell you something important. I've been trying to get in touch with you, but I haven't been able to reach you. There may be an issue. Could you send me a direct message? It's difficult to explain everything here.
This reads like either a phishing attempt or the start of an ARG. Give me a clue — what type of "issue" may there be?
