time to get on my high horse for a sec. People in this community---and in the world at large---absolutely MUST unlearn the idea that pregnancy is inherently something that is done to someone.
Obviously this is a part of the fun for some people, and there's nothing wrong with that, but it's pretty clear that a lot of people have this idea of pregnancy as a transitive action completely ingrained in their minds. This frames pregnancy as an intrinsic act of power, something that one party inflicts over another. I see this constantly. And I do mean constantly.
This is a reflection of millenia of sexism, under which women (and those forced to live as women) are pushed into the role of passive victim and men (and those forced to live as men) are pushed into the role of active perpetrator. And it's just... not true. Pregnancy is in fact something that's mostly done by one person and that's the pregnant one. It is an active thing---that a carrier does. Completely solo, sometimes, if they use nonstandard fertilization methods.
Which is to say: 1. By all means go ahead and keep using pregnancy in your power dynamic fantasy, but do it with the conscious awareness that this is fantasy. And 2. please make more hot shit about people getting pregnant as a power play im begging you pleeeeeeeaseeee
sighs. realising that a lifetime of shame and habitually sucking in my stomach to hide my egrigous bloating had only made said bloating worse as well as fucked my core muscles. no wonder my body is fucked man... never realised how much of the kink oriented around self acceptance for me. putting this one out there for anyone who finds any pleasure or interest in the way my body works. last night all i ate was a burger and i swelled up and just actually looked pregnant it kind of sucked for me but maybe thats fun for someone else

nina is a transfeminine mind flayer, i have taken some creative liberties with the species and she is more drawn as a human chimera with various sea creature features which im saying is fair game LOL. this coming paragraph doesnt cover preg stuff so skip over it if you like, if you read it i love you
shes a marine biology student, shes a fair bit over 6 foot. dresses super loud and colourful like its still the 70s but is really quite shy, she wants to make friends but she has a fair bit of social anxiety not helped by her... odd condition. as a mind flayer with an odd cocktail of psychic auDHD, her mindreading/eating powers are oddly developed and filtered through her synesthesia (tasting colours, etc). she doesnt try to read minds, she sees it as poor etiquette, but ends up tuning into people hormonally/emotionally like a staticy radio station and picks up rough impressions of how people are feeling... if she senses someone is feeling bad through a vauge impression of something red and spiky she assumes the person must dislike her, but usually shes just tuning into something unrelated on the persons mind at the time. the friends she ends up making (i hope) comfort her and help her work through this, mind flayer mental health science is really underdeveloped so shes working through a lot of this on her own. they engage in her hobbies like record collecting, gardening and the odd bit of writing or dungeons and dragons. maybe shes working with her campaign writing friends to create more positive depictions of mindflayers in dnd or something.
here is the tricky part. these psychic powers have... side effects. when making friends with some of the many pregged out attendees of the university she notices something strange happen into her. being able to tune into people hormonally and feel their emotions just by standing next to them so deeply, even without understanding them fully she begins to process them. the odd way her brain works makes her exceptionally prone to covaude syndrome, sympathetic pregnancy, feeling pregnancy symptons even when perhaps technivally she isnt. this begins as some pretty intense bloating, cravings, back pain etc etc. at first when this state started to manifest she would hide herself out of embarassment or fear... even though something about it made her happy. eventually, after getting closer with these friends and explaining how it works... they actually find it sweet! she also realises she really wants a baby, so her friends are happy for her to act as a kind of conduit that absorbs pregnancy from them. it turns out her psychic abilities extend to phantom sensations, that for someone with her odd nervous structure manifest physically, you can actually feel a kick on her belly! they find out that when shes in this state her pregnant friends can feel their own pains, cravings, etc are sort of alleviated, shes absorbing them. for some of them, nina getting to spiritually swell up with their baby is kind of a brief vacation from their pregnancy haha. any quirks that appear in the pregnant friend become projected onto her, she will get their mood swings, their specific cravings, and other odd little side effects. she loves getting to be their weirdly pregnant friend... everyone communally loves her and helps her when shes quite literally taking the weight off of the others. for all intents and purposes for nina its a real baby bump, its kind of like the space the baby takes up in the other person is projected to inside of her. i guess im really waffling bc this is such a weird concept so im worried im not conveying it well enough haha. maybe some time she can have a baby of her own... maybe if that happens she accidentally ends up projecting her symptoms and belly size onto others LOL. thatd be fun.

There are in the world some known complainers. Most who aren’t still share all the same attributes, but only after you open the door for them. At this point Alan knew that that little sigh was Tulip’s way of knocking.
“What’s wrong?”
The little sigh again. She looked lovely, standing framed by the light of the window, baby bump poking out sweetly. Alan wondered how long they’d have to be together for him to stop staring at her like this. Probably not until well after the natural course of his lifetime, he guessed. “It’s nothing,” she answered, without conviction.
Alan leaned forward over her little kitchen table, where his laptop and papers lay strewn. “It’s clearly something, babe.”
“I’m just tired,” she said, and then the door swung open. “I’m just so tired and I have so much to do. I was already tired and now the baby’s kept me up all night like three times in a row and I have my capstone due so soon and Casey’s gone next week and of course I’m the only one who can take over her tutoring sessions so I have to do so much work on it this week or I’ll get behind. And I have to do the dishes and all my laundry and finish meal prepping.” By this point her arms were crossed.
In a moment, Alan was at her side, arm around her shoulders. “Baby, you’re pregnant. You know you overwork yourself. Pregnant people don’t have to do dishes. Go, try to lie down for a little bit, let me rub your back. I can do the chores.”
Tulip smiled, nuzzling her cheek into her boyfriend’s shoulder. “Alan… you’re so damn sweet to me.”
He felt a swell of pride in his chest. It was quickly interrupted by Tulip poking his belly. His very pregnant belly.
“—And you’re a cheeky bastard. Go sit back down, silly.”
“But you—“
“‘Pregnant people don’t have to do the dishes’ applies double to people who didn’t have a faerie bless them with a magically symptom-free pregnancy.” She lifted his arm off her shoulders, giving him a gentle push.
Now it was Alan’s turn to sigh. “You’re making it very difficult for me to pamper and dote on you, you know. At least let me help with the chores.”
“No laundry. I know you’ll try to lift too much.”
Now Alan crossed his arms over his belly, squishing his boobs. (They hadn’t been dating long enough for him to not still be trying a little bit to seduce her at all times, which meant a lot of thinking about his own boobs, apparently.) “It takes four trips when you do it. All the way to the basement.”
“Nuh-uh.” She waggled a finger. “No lifting for pregnant boys.”
“Then at least let me do the dishes,” he conceded.
“But your feet have been—“
He walked over, grabbed a sponge, ignored Tulip’s attempts to bat him away, and bent awkwardly over the sink to reach a plate around his middle.
“Evil!” Tulip cried, giving up on shooing him. “Evil man! Agh, fine, I’ll start the laundry.” Alan blew a kiss her way. She rolled her eyes.
“And then you take a break,” he said. “And I give you that back rub.”
“And then we both take a break,” she said. “And maybe we both get a back rub.”
“I can’t pretend to say no to that.”
“And then you let me finish meal prep. Because, Alan, I really love you,” and here she kissed him on the cheek, “but I am not letting your white ass touch my pozole .”
“I wouldn’t dare,” he said, and couldn’t help but watch her walk away.
