And then Elizabeth comes back, and Andrea is forced to curse herself to get Elizabeth to help her find a lost, priceless, portrait. Forced to fake her own death by poisoning herself. And then threaten Elizabeth with a gun. Her protector, her angel, her girl, her best friend. Andrea is one of 2 people allowed to call Elizabeth "El". And Andrea ends up shooting someone else in the shoulder rather than shoot Elizabeth. And even though Elizabeth is rightfully pissed at her, Andrea uses her phone calls in prison to protect Elizabeth from Quentin Quinn. Lets her know about the murder attempts, lets her know why Quentin gave Leonard Gomez a...basically dementia covid.

And in the latest updates, Elizabeth forgave her best friend, and got her out of prison early. They've made up and are living together as roommates. and I am INSANE about these two. Tony and Leonard are fascinating together yes. But everything they are Elizabeth and Andrea are More, while also having been rivals to friends and roommates in college. I am not normal about them. Andrea wanted her whole life to be the princess who saved the knight. She constantly stole Elizabeth's boyfriends because "they're not good enough for you girl". and when Elizabeth was kidnapped by a ghost witch put the flirting with Elizabeth's uncle to the side to go save Elizabeth. Chanced being killed by a curse to tackle a witch during a ritual to get her to stop. And tearfully asked Elizabeth if she wanted some tea when she woke up from a death like coma. I cradle my head in my hands as I try not to think about them too hard.

they promised each other they'd go to Japan together for a dig with a professor they both cared about. And they haven't gone yet and I have feelings. One of the few cutscenes is Elizabeth breaking down scream sobbing when she finds what she thinks is Andrea's dead body.

These two need to be locked in a room together and forced to talk it out but that guilt Andrea's still got for not being what her parents want...She was kicked out because she wanted to be an archaeologist. I do not think she'd expect a love confession from Andrea. They're going to hurt each other, with love confessions, but they don't mince words with each other. And they might be protective of each other but they also have to let each other go into the maws of danger and hope they come back home unscathed and alive. One of my favorite songs by Southern Call and I genuinely think it's the definitive song of Elizabeth and Andrea. Anytime I hear it I see them in my head slowdancing in the dead of night to an old radio playing the song. Middle of a dig, they should be in their tent but the moon's hanging over those ruins just right. This is how I think they see each other. But definitely moreso how Elizabeth sees Andrea.

to be clear, now that I've seen Tony interact with Leonard more, I think it's more Tony thinks he himself is poison when it comes to Leonard. Tony's kinda...aloof? detached? like yea he's friendly but oh man he does not readily give out much information about himself. And everything we DO know seems to indicate shame of his past, fear of it catching up to him, and not wanting that to hurt people. Including his friends. However it usually does because it's that very distance that hurts them. Especially Leonard. Tony's one of 3 people allowed to call him Leo. Leonard's grandmother and Elizabeth Nash being the other two allowed to call him that. Tony only uses the nickname when he's worried and trying to hide it. Tony's gone back to Department 17, a government group he used to work for that he's clearly traumatized by, because Leonard called him and asked for help. And it was the only help Tony could give. It clearly killed him to have to admit he used to work for them at all, and I get the feeling because of 17 Tony's convinced whoever he does fall for who's human he'd be incredibly BAD for. A poison in their lives.

the problem is is Leonard's into toxic people who hate themselves lol. But he's also got pride and self doubt. Telling Tony "I love you and don't want to see you hurting" even if it's platonic, would be like pulling teeth with him. Leonard's also convinced he's bad for everyone around him, because he's a cop and his job dictates a professionalism...even if his former work partners or friends are the suspects. And that kills him. They're making up intricate rituals to touch each other even in something as simple as a handshake while their eyes are more than likely tracking every movement the other makes. Queerplatonic or otherwise they're bad for each other, in their minds, are aware of this, and are fine with it.

I think the funniest thing with these two is the fact one of them shot the other and the other's response was only "oh buddy. you killed me" before dropping like a stone, and then the one that doesn't believe in the supernatural went like this:

again a song that plays from both their perspectives easily. Tony is a wild card with an adrenaline addiction problem. He's a type of psychic and a monster fucker. They have each other's numbers. Even if Leonard can't get ahold of Tony immediately he calls back the second he can. But they're both so so bad at romance. I've got to give Tony this, and it's that he seems to adore life and all it's experiences, and dancing. He's always inviting his friends to dance with him. He wants the highs and lows of being alive, and I do wonder if that's just because he knows this won't kill him.

He doesn't really grab for what he wants, but he's pursuing it anyway. Even if it's for the love of the chase. When Leonard lost his memory we did learn he loves dancing too, dancing and ice cream and star watchinc and midnight walks in the park dates-which given the world they live in is gutsy as fuck but I digress.

if they got together, it'd only be through actually dancing together, I swear. Taking what they want instead of just...skirting it. It's also worth mentioning they're both bi, and from the alien event of Leonard's at least I get the sense they're both fine with open relationships. At least tony is. I think the main crux is simply needing the trust if they let the other wander...they'd come back. And trust is something they both are a little lacking in. Tony, at least, has faith...but it's not quite the same thing.

He is hunting, researching, investigating, something he's got attraction to. I don't know what he was doing in 17, but it's clear he learned to use his body, mind, beauty and feelings as weapons. And now he's so so so careful about simply handing people affection. However Leonard's the acception. Because Tony met him a few times before he left 17, and when Leonard moved from a big city to a small one, Tony, crucially, followed him. You don't uproot your entire life for just anyone.

While Leonard is the opposite, in a way. He's very much aware any relationship he has could be used against him if that person ever becomes a suspect. His former mentor Mako Chen was once framed for murder of someone who killed the partner before she trained the then rookie Leonard. And Leonard, despite being absolutely torn up over it, proceeded to lead the manhunt. He's arrested friends. While apologizing but still. He's also had his affection used against him, and withdraws further whenever it happens. His heart is on his sleeve, a dagger conveniently sewn in such a way people use it to stab him in the back. So he tries not to care, to pull away...But with Tony he can't. Tony calls him Leo. When he hurts him Leonard nearly breaks down. He may or may not have a picture of him on his motorcycle in front of Leonard's house. (It's unclear if the "bad girl with long dark hair in leather leaning against a motorcycle" is Tony or not. Leonard was just rightfully upset someone rifled through his wallet and found the picture. But from a certain angle...Tony could be mistaken for a woman). They're too entangled together. Every single action betrays some sort of deeper feeling. They could absolutely be platonic. They could absolutely be friends with no romantic or sexual inclination. But oh man. Friendship is still a form of love and the love they have for each other is so devastating.

The family's told her she'd be allowed back into the country if she denounced being an archaeologist. Elizabeth and Andrea were roommates, and rivals. Andrea saw the test scores, saw Elizabeth scored higher than her and went "Oh. You're the one I have to beat" to her face essentially. and then they became best friends. Elizabeth protected Andrea, from the ire of their classmates to chronic nightmares to cursed items. And Andrea protected Elizabeth from being targeted by people like Quentin Quinn and Fancy Frankie. When Elizabeth went globetrotting with their professor Johanna Brooks, Andrea got blackmailed and scooped up by the people she was protecting Elizabeth from, partly because she was desperate and needed funding.

And then Elizabeth comes back, and Andrea is forced to curse herself to get Elizabeth to help her find a lost, priceless, portrait. Forced to fake her own death by poisoning herself. And then threaten Elizabeth with a gun. Her protector, her angel, her girl, her best friend. Andrea is one of 2 people allowed to call Elizabeth "El". And Andrea ends up shooting someone else in the shoulder rather than shoot Elizabeth. And even though Elizabeth is rightfully pissed at her, Andrea uses her phone calls in prison to protect Elizabeth from Quentin Quinn. Lets her know about the murder attempts, lets her know why Quentin gave Leonard Gomez a...basically dementia covid.

And in the latest updates, Elizabeth forgave her best friend, and got her out of prison early. They've made up and are living together as roommates. and I am INSANE about these two. Tony and Leonard are fascinating together yes. But everything they are Elizabeth and Andrea are More, while also having been rivals to friends and roommates in college. I am not normal about them. Andrea wanted her whole life to be the princess who saved the knight. She constantly stole Elizabeth's boyfriends because "they're not good enough for you girl". and when Elizabeth was kidnapped by a ghost witch put the flirting with Elizabeth's uncle to the side to go save Elizabeth. Chanced being killed by a curse to tackle a witch during a ritual to get her to stop. And tearfully asked Elizabeth if she wanted some tea when she woke up from a death like coma. I cradle my head in my hands as I try not to think about them too hard.

they promised each other they'd go to Japan together for a dig with a professor they both cared about. And they haven't gone yet and I have feelings. One of the few cutscenes is Elizabeth breaking down scream sobbing when she finds what she thinks is Andrea's dead body.

Andrea's catholic. Well. Non practicing but she is religious. She's got that Guilt, if she's in love with her best friend (and I think she is). Andrea never did explain what she'd been planning to ask Lady Wasp for if she survived the..cosmic hunger games where if you win you live and get a wish. Fix a betrayal is all she said, and that could very well be Elizabeth. But even if it's not romantic she is trying so hard to cut that love for her out of her heart. And Elizabeth is too. Andrea keeps coming up in conversation, and before Elizabeth forgives her she is trying not to care about Andrea in prison. How she's doing, if she's still got the nightmares...they should not care for each other, but they do.

And honestly, Andrea's personality is very similar to Leonard Gomez, so it does feel extra hmm why Elizabeth latched onto him when she friendzoned everyone else. Including Jack Sullivan, who Andrea even says "is usually your type". But genuinely I think Elizabeth is a bi disaster who missed her best friend and that's part of the attraction towards Leonard lol. And Tony's not unlike Elizabeth personality wise and is hot. Andrea's catnip lol. These two need to be locked in a room together and forced to talk it out but that guilt Andrea's still got for not being what her parents want...She was kicked out because she wanted to be an archaeologist. Told it was a phase and told she'd be welcomed home when she got over herself, and saw the "right path". and if that's not an allegory I don't know what is.

I do not think she'd expect a love confession from Andrea. They're going to hurt each other, with love confessions, but they don't mince words with each other. But I just...Their chosen profession is going to pull them away from each other. And their profession is dangerous!! Curses and undead sorcerers and witches, ghosts and demons and genies. And they might be protective of each other but they also have to let each other go into the maws of danger and hope they come back home unscathed and alive.
