Hypothetical movies for a The Painter slasher franchise, inspired by @bloodismymedium2 post about hypothetical merchandise
The Painter - the first 5 tapes formatted into a plotline, heavy focus on the police department trying to solve mysterious murders intercut with scenes of the murders occurring, similar to the first Friday The 13th. Nathan as the protagonist. Reveal of Mona as the climax and a possible showdown with the cops that ends with her escaping, setting up the sequel.
The Painter Ends - switch to Tina as the protagonist, follow her grappling with trauma based paranoia and her new disability while continuing the intersplicing of scenes of murder. Maybe give Tina a feeling of dread whenever a murder occurs? Tina befriends Nathan through her attempts at getting more information on what the hell Mona is doing now, maybe set up hetslop as blockbusters love their straight couples. Change the ending a little to give Mona a trial, letting nugget Tina speak in front of the jury to help convict her. Maybe Mona is sent to a mental hospital instead of prison to set up more sequels?
The Painter: Origins - Mona and Bill as the protagonists now, this one would show their lives at the orphanage. Change the dog ordeal or do it off screen. Show a bit more of the red mans deal, like is it a cult or mk ultra or is it truly all in Mona's head? Mona would be very fitting for a creepy kid character and she deserves a going crazy arc.
The Painter Returns - a cashgrab sequel where Mona escapes wherever she's being kept, kills more people, much of the same. Maybe Mona is the protagonist of this one as well so we can see what she really thinks of what she's doing.
Seed of The Painter - inspired by seed of Chucky, Mona has a kid and didn't immediately decide to eat it for nutrients. The kid goes into foster care cause Mona is unfit to care for them and in teenage hood or adulthood they start researching their bio mother. They learn of Monas crimes and must grapple with being related to the most depraved serial killer in Louisiana. Further their crisis by giving them similar auditory hallucinations of the mysterious machine and hallucinations of the red man. For the drama have a scene where they meet Mona in either the mental hospital or prison and they have a conversation, either Mona is proud of them or demands they follow in her footsteps.
The Painter: Legacy - follows a fully new character. Based on the episode 10 implication of the red man chosing new people OR copycat killings. The new character we follow is a self proclaimed Mona expert and knows everything about her. This character begins hearing the humming and seeing the red man, and also seeing Mona who is at this time officially dead. This character has their own going crazy arc and eventually does kill someone, but realizes they can't handle that and is crushed with guilt. (Shameless Frida Grossman inclusion with this one)
A Scary Movie parody segment - in scary movie or some other horror parody movie there's a Mona equivalent, Lisa, who is a crack whore who bites people's dicks off. She goes on and on about how she went to art school and tries to kill one of her clients. She gets kicked in the head and dies.
Maybe an adult animated series to give our horror comedy enjoyers something to watch, would probably be cancelled midway through season 1 due to low ratings and excessive gore
The Painter: The Lost Tapes - A found footage anthology spin off in a similar gain to V/H/S where an amateur true crime documentary crew, possibly a YouTube channel investigates an abandoned house Mona and Bill were rumored to squat in and they find a collection of tapes consisting of snuff films recorded by Mona and Bill and tapes of their murders taken from victims like a couple hiking in the woods that were jumped by Mona and Bill.
The Painter: Human or Monster? - A mockumentary in a similar gain to the Poughkeepsie Tapes where it takes place ten years after Mona’s death and it covers her murders, history and the conspiratorial side of her story like the Red Man and the supposed cult of extreme artists that worships him. We also see that Mona has become sort’ve a dark woke feminist icon with her own dedicated, underground fanbase that is heavily implied to be part of the Red Man cult.
Skinface - A spin-off film featuring Bill as the main protagonist that explores he and Mona’s relationship as well as further explores him as a character, after miraculously surviving being shot in the head because horror movies, he goes out searching for Mona while slaughtering anyone that gets in his way, and we’re treated to flashbacks to how he and Mona became an “item”. Tina returns as the final girl protagonist and she’s basically Ash Williams at this point with weaponized prosthetics and she and Bill have their final battle in St. Helena that’s burning down around them.
The Painter: Resurrection - The movie that jumps the biggest shark by far, the Mona Lanius fan club that was set up in Human or Monster? bring Mona back to life by stitching her back together (Big Pussy Boom being a canon event in this continuity) and resurrecting her with a satanic ritual, thus confirming once and for all that the Red Man is actually real, Mona, now referred to as “Frankenmona” by the fanbase leads her cult to perform some real A Clockwork Orange extreme art shenanigans and Mona just flat out has demon powers now like telekinesis and shit.
Welcome to St. Helena - Basically the Halloween H20 treatment where a group of twenty something year olds decide to hold an epic Halloween party in the now abandoned St. Helena orphanage that is rumored to be haunted by the Red Man and they are killed off one by one by seemingly supernatural events only for it to turn out that the whole place is just outfitted with dozens of booby traps by Frankenmona (who is now dressed like a dominatrix version of a nun) and Bill who now live at St. Helena and are trying to retire from killing and settle down with their new “daughter”, a mentally disturbed woman dressed like a doll with proportioned dwarfism who believes she’s a little girl that Mona and Bill took in and named “Dolly”.
The Red Man - Now that Resurrection has confirmed that the Red Man is real, it only makes sense to give him his own spin-off film. Mona’s club of simps are pissed that Mona doesn’t want to kill anymore and disappeared along with Bill so they resort to summoning the Red Man to try and get her back, The Red Man is joined with his own posse of diet Cenobites themed around different mediums of art, each with their own unique powers and they raise hell and leave a trail of massacred bodies in their search for Mona so that they can drag her and Bill back to Hell.
The Painters - The obligatory remakeboot made as an attempt to breath new life into the franchise that follows a now grizzled, jaded Nathan Cole as this movie takes pace at least twenty years after the first movie who is on the trail of a copycat killer that is leaving revised versions of Mona’s original paintings at crime scenes of people who are killed in new ways such as the new Fucktoy Cory being a gimp who was fucked to death with a knife-mounted strap on, the sheer amount of murders happening at once leads Nathan to believe there is more than one killer and evidence/eye witness reports suggest that it’s actually Mona herself but that’s impossible because she definitely died for good this time in the last movie, it turns out that the new killer is actually Mona’s long lost twin sister, Lisa who was never suggested to exist before but she does now and it just so happens that she’s a college art teacher who’s groomed some of her students to be her accomplices
The Painter 3000 - The obligatory slasher film sequel where the killer ends up in outer space somehow. Taking place in the year 3000, a colony on Mars is opening a museum dedicated to 21st century criminology that has the cloned bodies of actual serial killers and criminals on display in cryostasis and the Mona clone is thawed out during a power outage and of course, she starts The Paintering everyone, halfway though the film she becomes a Jason X ass cyborg that the fanbase either calls Metal Mona or Monaborg and she has machine gun titties like in that one scene in Austin Powers.
The First Painter - Also known as The Painter 0 or Retro Painter. This prequel shows the origin of the Red Man and his cult and reveals that Mona wasn’t the first painter as the Lanius family has always been cursed to kill and create art to appease The Red Man, who is revealed to be the fallen angel of the arts, Dantalion and the movie follows Mona’s ancestor, a starving artist during the Renaissance era who makes a deal with Dantalion to be recognized for her work and becomes the first painter, reluctantly killing for him for fake and recognition in return.
Amanda the adventurer can't have any grooming implications or racist predation implications or trafficking implications or anything to do with amanda being abused and failed by everyone around her because that's le heckin problematic proship medias. wooly cannot be an abuser and an abuser solely because that's le heckin problematic lack of representation medias.
