percy’s neighborhood friends who know him as a good kid who always ends up in trouble and ms sally as a good, kind woman and gabe as a bum whose screaming and yelling echoes out of their apartment at all hours, hearing that percy and sally suddenly went missing and gabe’s car was found crashed and burned to the point of not being able to detect blood or anything inside it in long island when they were supposed to be in montauk but they couldn’t find any bodies, watching as gabe does tv interviews playing the victim like he’s genuinely upset about the whole thing. the neighborhood thinking gabe drove them out to the middle of nowhere and killed them before destroying the evidence

saw this after show interview https://www.tvinsider.com/1235979/percy-jackson-season-2-episode-5-sirens-annabeth-athena-walker-scobell-leah-sava-jeffries/ and would add on that perhaps the first "vision" annabeth saw (of the 3 of them fighting) was intentionally confusing. leah says annabeth knows she was getting pulled in at this point, and the viewers feel that too – like oh okay this is weird and this isn't a real vision, ha sirens is that the best you can do. which makes the switchup to the siren rocks and athena flying in so much better. THAT'S the real vision.

the concept of percy and annabeth watching a marine life documentary together and annabeth is sobbing because the narrator is discussing climate change effects while sad music plays and percy is giggling because the octopus and shark have been calling each other sea slurs in almost all the footage

the world is so big and beautiful

because the thing is that the painted lady persona that katara takes on is so she can help the villagers without her waterbending being given away. katara, who detests the fire nation for what they’ve done to her and her tribe, takes on the persona of a spirit to help a fire nation town that is being oppressed by the fire nation itself. the blue spirit is a persona that zuko takes on so he can do whatever he wants without being caught or held accountable. it isn’t born out of a strong sense of justice or compassion, and he never uses that persona to help others (except aang and appa) that are in need of help. katara’s painted lady shows you that her compassion and empathy win against any prejudice or hatred she might have, and if she sees someone in need she’ll set her prejudices aside to help them. it makes absolutely zero sense for these two to even interact in those forms, and even if they did, there’s no planet where katara’s painted lady has even an ounce of respect for zuko’s blue spirit. the painted lady in book 2 makes no sense as it is, and if it’s only there to set up some bullshit “parallel” between zuko and katara, you have to erase some of the most central traits katara has for it to even make sense.

"He gave up the avatar state for her!!!" And i unironically cannot name a better way to piss katara off. Imagine your buddy gives up his ability to end a war thats lasted 100 years and ravaged your homeland, all because he wants to kiss you, and you aren't even sure if you return the sentiment. All of your and the whole world's hopes are riding on him and he just doesnt give a shit. Id kick his ass so hard

this argument is so incredibly narrow because it's clearly an intentional misunderstanding of their relationship, because aang tried to let katara go not once but TWICE, like the first time upon seeing her in danger and he reacted immediately to save her before he had even learned to let her go in order to access the avatar state, and she trusted he would save her like we can even see her face light up with hope in that very scene, and the second time he actually did let her go, he literally DIED!! it wasn't just katara but he had to let go of all earthy attachments beyond himself and his avatar power to unlock it, while yes it's his duties as the avatar and aang also loves katara and because his duties also meant he held the responsibility of protecting her life as much as protecting the world! because he loved her enough to prioritize her but also enough to let her go, he's done both of those things when it's necessary. so it's honestly baffling how people ignore the fact that there's an episode where katara opposes aang accessing the avatar state because of how much she cares about him and much aware of the toll it takes on him, and given how emotionally exhausted she already was during the serpent's pass there's absolutely no way katara would've wanted aang to let her go!! katara loves aang regardless of whatever circumstances the war brought with it and regardless of what people who don't ship them together choose to believe and losing him was one of the darkest moments of her life and she would've never wanted him to let her go just because it would help him reach the avatar state !
