ânever kill yourselfâ is such a funny phrase to me that i think itâs accidently started working. its like an affrimation. say ânever kill yourselfâ enough times as a joke and maybe you wonât try to kill yourself over minor inconviences anymore
i made this image for the express purpose of this
i get so irritated with "i dont like zoos on principle" people. There are many bad institutions ofc but it's like being an animal welfare advocacy based on Vibes rather than yknow the most dedicated and cutting edge researchers and carers and actual conservation and public education programs. its giving white vegan its giving peta etc.
I've found that the most effective starting place for folks who've fallen into this trap is to ask them first what they think 'zoos' are. Because most of the time they're not aware of https://www.aza.org/accreditation at all, and they've been exposed to non-accredited 'zoos' and 'animal attractions' - they think that New England Aquarium is the same as Sea World, they think The Smithsonian National Zoo is the same as Tiger King.
It IS irritating to talk to these people, but many of them can be educated out of their stance.
HAVE Z AND ALPHA NOT BEEN MADE AWARE? HAVE WE FAILED AT CONTINUING TO MEME THE HELL OUT OF IT? ARE WE, IN FACT, THE GRANDMAS BECAUSE WE ARE THE ANCIENT KEEPERS OF THE INCEST COFFEE KNOWLEDGE???

(If anybody is wondering âhow could they write that and not anticipate the reaction?â Itâs because the sister was supposed to be much younger in the original draft. Like. An actual child. But they aged her up and never bothered changing the dialogue, soâŚ)ďżź
Itâs honestly not the writing or the age, or even the acting that screams âincest.â
Itâs the directing and camera work. Itâs specifically the long lingering gazes.
The best part of waking up is getting to read this incest oral history.
Iâm begging you to read the oral history of this commercial. It features some banger quotes and also Timothy Simons, aka Jonah from Veep, who worked the camera for the auditions and callbacks.
Happy Folgers Incest Commercial season to all who celebrate!
I highly recommend this CJ the X video about it
Folks, friends, yâallâŚ. esk*mo is a slur. I understand a lot of people donât know that, I donât want to be a dick about it, but Iâve been seeing it in fics. Wanna write âesk*mo kissesâ? Just say ânuzzled nosesâ or something.
Iâm not here to call anybody out, itâs been in multiple fics, Iâm not vague posting. This is just a psa. đđť
If you could help me spread awareness about this by reblogging, Iâd really appreciate it.
Iâve had this post on insta saved for sometime â¤ď¸
[Text Description: âHey! Reminder: Eskimo is a slur. It means âsnow eatersâ in Cree and is a slur against Inuit . Also donât use âEskimo kissesâ. Itâs called Kunik. It is a greeting mostly used for family⌠Kunik was how Iâd greet my mom and grandmother as a small child.â /TD]
Rebloging for the awareness and especially for the alternative words
And so people who are just learning this now know the proper usage: âInuitâ is plural. The singular is âInukâ, as in âhe is an Inukâ

i love when there's an unclear component of nurture/nature to your hobbies. like your dad was a swimmer and despite never swimming together you joined your highschool team. your mom was a painter before she ever had you and now you're an artist. your older sibling loved hiking 10 years ago and now you're itching to scramble up some rocks for 6 hours. there is a calling and it might be in your bones or muscles or your hands but more likely its in the small but loving mentions of guitar solos and watercolor paint and trail shoes in the back of your head. this made you happy and it makes me happy too.

I hope you believe that you can still make a beautiful life for yourself even if you lost many years of it to grief, or darkness, depression, or a wound that wouldn't close.
I am once again emerging from my hibernation (im almost done with the semester and I will finally have free will again). Will do some housekeeping stuff here soon..
I keep having to tear down extremely predatory/misleading Scien.tology flyers in my school's art building. This is the third fucking time I've ripped the fuckers up and I'm getting Real Fucking Tired of it.
If you see shit like this DO NOT call the number, do not do anything to interact with these fucking people. Take down the posters if you're able to. They do NOT want to help you. They are a literal fucking cult who openly despise psychology and any actual proven mental health science, and are actively trying to trick mentally/emotionally vulnerable people into joining.
The red flags here are "Hubbard," the name of their founder, and "dianetics," the crackpot theory they teach for "auditing" your sins from your past lives.
Iâd like to add what @jaspertheshark said in the tags because I feel itâs important

spiritfarer grabbed me by the throat (violently) and threw me against the wall like a sopping wet plush
struggling with how to word this, but putting it out there anyway:
i can fully understand the posts on here from a lot of americans being tired of âvote blue no matter whoâ posts when the #1 thing that people are constantly (and sometimes only?) addressing is how the republican party is going treat trans/queer people if elected.
itâs part of an unfortunate pattern of prioritizing the effects on a demographic that includes white + upper class people, when people of color and those in the global south are actively and currently being killed or relegated to circumstances in which their survival is very unlikely
it is genuinely exhausting to witness this, and i was also on the fence about even participating in voting because i a) felt like it didnât matter and b) every time i voiced being frustrated with the current state of the country, white queer people would immediately step in with âbut what about trans people!â -> (i am mixed race trans man)
and i say this with unending patience toward people who do this, because i know that itâs not something they actively think about. but everyone already knows how the republican party is going to treat queer people. you are probably talking to another queer person when you bring up project 2025. the issue is that, for those of us who arenât white, or for those of us who are but who are conscious of ongoing struggles for people of color worldwide, the safety of people around the world feels more urgent than our own. that is the calculation thatâs being made.
youâre not going to win votes for the democratic party by dismissing or minimizing these realities and by continually centering (white) queer people.
very few people on here and twitter are actually talking about issues beyond queer rights that concern people of color, or how the two administrations differ on these issues instead of constantly circling back to single-issue politics. this isnât an exhaustive list. but these are the issues that have actually altered my perspective and motivated me to the point of committing to casting a vote
the biden administration has been engaged in a years-long fight to allow new applicants to DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, the program that allows undocumented individuals who arrived as children to remain in the country) after the Trump administration attempted to terminate it. the program is in limbo currently because of the actions of Trump-backed judges, with those who applied before the ruling being allowed to stay, but no new applications are being processed. Trump has repeatedly toyed with the idea of just deporting the 1.8 million people, but he continues to change his mind depending on whatever the fuck goes on in his head. he cannot be relied on to be sympathetic toward people of hispanic descent or to guarantee that DREAMers will be allowed stay in the country. biden + a democratic controlled congress will allow legal challenges to the DACA moratorium to gain ground.
the biden administration is open to returning and protecting portions of culturally important indigenous land in a way that the trump administration absolutely does not give a fuck. as of may 2024, they have established seven national monuments with plans to expand the San Gabriel Monument where the Gabrielino, Kizh / Tongva, the Chumash, Kitanemuk, Serrano, and Tataviam reside. the Berryessa Snow Mountain is also on the list, as a sacred region to the Patwin.
iâm recognizing that the USâs plans for clean energy have often come into conflict with tribal sovereignty, and the biden administration could absolutely do better in navigating this. but the unfortunate dichotomy is that there would be zero commitment or investment in clean energy under a trump-led government, which poses an astounding existential threat and destabilizing force to the global south beyond any human-to-human conflict. climate change has caused and will continue to cause resource shortages, greater natural disasters, and near-lethal living conditions for those in the tropics - and the actions of the highest energy consumers (US) are to blame. biden has funneled billions of dollars into climate change mitigation and clean energy generation - trump does not believe that any of it matters.
i may circle back to this and add more as it comes up, but iâm hoping that those who are skeptical / discouraged / tired of the white queer-centric discourse on tumblr and twitter can at least process some of this. please feel free to add more articles + points but iâm asking for the sake of this post to please focus on issues that affect people of color.
As someone who works in immigration, The whole system is fucked. However, Biden has done a lot to make it easier. Here are some highlights:
- Work permits for asylum seekers. Trump did not allow asylum seekers to work above board, forcing them into cash paying, near slavery jobs. Biden has made work permits relatively quick and easy to get. Also, even though they arenât cheap, ($520 each) his admin has waived fees for many categories including initial asylum seekers and Violence Against Women Act seekers. Also, anyone with a work permit that was renewed this year will have it for 5 years, enough that if trump fucks the process for everyone people can at least still make a living.
- Prosecutorial discretion. Under Trump, if you didnât have a path to citizenship and you had immigration court, you were finished. Biden has essentially paused proceedings for hundreds of thousands of people who donât have a case now, but might in the future, giving them time to work, marry, have children, and potentially open new doors for themselves.
- The one that made the news: Parole in place. To immigrate legally, you have to enter the country legally except under very narrow circumstances. If you crossed the border and donât win in court, you currently have to apply for a hard to get waiver with a 4 year waiting list to leave and come back legally. Biden is trying to waive this by expanding the options for people who crossed the border and married citizens to eliminate the waiver process.
These changes could be gone as soon as january 25th 2025 if Biden loses, as the new administration will replace the whole administration with political appointees frothing at the mouth to send people back regardless of their personal circumstances.
Sure, immigrating to the US isnât what everyone wants. I dream of a future with truly open borders where nobody would have to do any of the things I do for them. Right now though, Biden will make things better, even if only to a point. Trump will make them much worse.
Also poor disabled people.
Recipients of SSI are - by definition - not âupper classâ because you canât have more than $2000 at any give time. Half of SSI recipients arenât white. (People of Color are also more likely to have jobs where theyâre injured or working in dangerous conditions, and have also been disproportionately impacted by COVID.)
The Biden Administration removed the In-Kind Support and Maintenance Rule as it applies to food. This means that - as of September 30th, at least - you wonât be at risk of losing your benefits if someone shares food with you. Previously, if your parents bought you groceries or your friend cooked for you, you could have your benefits reduced by up to 1/3.
The Biden Administration is also removing some of the obsolete jobs that are used to deny people disability benefits. Applying for disability benefits involves the government telling you âWell these are jobs you could do with your disabilitiesâ - and the list of jobs was established in the 1970s and hasnât really been updated, and a lot of the jobs donât really exist in the US anymore. So you can be told âSure, youâre too disabled to stand, but you could be a Linen Grader, so youâre not Disabled Enough that you canât work.â - even though thatâs not really a job that exists in the US anymore. Under Biden, the SSA is removing some of those jobs like âreptile farmerâ, âbarrel assemblerâ, ânut sorterâ, and âmicrofiche mounterâ, so you canât be denied disability benefits based on your hypothetical ability to farm reptiles.
Being told every four years âwe need you to vote for the lesser evilâ is hell. I know. I want to scream.
We vote for the lesser evil every four years because thereâs a fundamental flaw in our voting system. We use a âfirst past the poleâ voting system, awarding the prize to whoever gets the most votes (with some electoral college nonsense thrown in). That inevitably means that if thereâs a candidate âsorta-like the Democrats, only betterâ then all the non-Republican votes will be split between two candidates and the Republicans will win.
It inevitably results in two parties. Thereâs no room for alternatives because alternatives just hurt your own side.
The good news is that Ranked Choice Voting is spreading. Ranked Choice Voting lets you rank the candidates in order of how much you like them. Under Ranked Choice Voting you can say âI like Jill Stein the most, then I suppose Bidenâs better than Trump, and Trump is the worst.â Under this system if no candidate wins over 50%, then the candidates with the least votes are removed, and everyone that picked those candidates as their #1 choice has their vote shifted to their #2 choice. Under this system you can vote for Jill Stein (or Kennedy, or Ralph Nader) without electing Trump. Itâs a system that allows third parties to grow, gain recognition, and hopefully put an end to âpick the lesser evilâ politics (here, have a link).
But that system wonât be in place for the November 2024 election.
Things arenât completely hopeless, we do have a path forward, there are things we can do. But itâs not going to be done by November 2024. Youâre going to have to vote for the lesser evil. Youâre going to have to remember just how much this election matters, because itâs very likely the next President is going to pick another two Supreme Court Justices. And they will be young judges, given lifetime appointments. This next election could have repercussions for generations. Donald Trump appointed 1/3 of this court, and in a short amount of time it has repealed Roe vs. Wade, gutted the EPA, FDA, and other Federal regulatory bodies, ruled that itâs okay to pass laws making it illegal to be homeless, and gave Trump and other Presidents nearly complete immunity. They essentially ruled that Nixon could have said âthe men I sent to Watergate were just investigatingâ and he wouldâve been fine.
Itâs not hopeless, there are things we can do beyond just âvoting for the lesser evil,â but I cannot emphasize enough that your vote (or lack of vote) in November will have repercussions for generations to come.
People who knee jerk that âitâs still a vote for a warmongerâ have GOT to get it through their heads that if republicans win, they worsen everything, including the situation in Gaza. They said they wanted to escalate, they said they think Biden is âtoo soft,â they immediately want more violence.
The only way that isnât happening is if the only current threat to them wins instead, and there is no third party with even 1% the backing of the two big parties.
Itâs not that we want Democrats to win because we like them or theyâre good people. Itâs that either Republicans or Democrats will win, and NOBODY else will be able to improve anything about this country or even hope to counter the violence we perpetuate elsewhere under a Republican presidency. They aim to ensure everyone will be more powerless than ever and their policies will kill more people everywhere, of every demographic.
abstract and modern art haters are sooo snobby like klein literally Created an entirely new pigment and then painted a canvas in a way where the brush strokes wouldn't be visible. the insinuation that people with no skill could reproduce that is so annoying because unless you are skilled at color mixing and painting you definitely couldnât lmao
i hope it's okay to add this because i think it hits the nail directly on the head
Honestly, it's like picking up a book and saying "I know all these words, I can type, I could have written this" like there's no middle step between the technical ability and the finished work.
she hath been through the fires and emerged anew...
this is a long overdue update, but miffy (nijntje) went through the kiln! and she turned out so good I was very happy with the results! this one was made out of a cone 4 white clay.
more miffies are on the way! i created a plaster mold of this model and she has some porcelain siblings making their way through the kilns this week!

Textiles from Sharron Hedgesâ studio.
Julie Schafler Dale from Art To Wear:
ââŚWhile Sharronâs work is ephemeral and fluid, it is also demanding and firm. Her strength is grounded in âŚyears of discipline, technique, evaluation, and determinationâŚSharronâs most cherished muse is color itself: the subtle optical illusions, the vibrancy achieved through juxtaposing colors, bouncing them off one anotherâŚAs Sharron moves further away from crochetâŚwhat has not changed is the consummate craftsmanship and discipline Sharron brings to all she touchesâŚâ
Sharron says: âA few years ago I left my heart in New York City, Â but still work in both fiber and pattern design in my new home in North Carolina. Here Iâm able to grow gardens, always a passion for me, and they are now inspiring a new way of making art.
Iâve gardened for so many years and always have marvelled at the forms, the color, the life that explodes over and over again, in awe at each sight. And while I never get tired of being able to experience this, Iâm really excited to tap into the amazing life of plants in a different way. Ecoprinting has truly given me a great renewal in life, and in art. I am beyond excited to work with this process.â
