“Oi.” Sirius blurted, bending over the back of the couch that was placed in the center of the common room. “How willing would you be to do a tiny little favor for me?” The male grinned, blood from his face nearly smearing onto his teeth.

So Sirius hadn’t really made the smartest choice he had never made, but when did he ever think before he acted? Never was the answer. He had been on his way back to the common room when he had noticed a group of purebloods picking on a poor third year who was terrified. They had been messing with him because, much like Sirius at that age, preferred not to give a damn about other’s blood status. He couldn’t just walk away from the situation. While Sirius had been fortunate enough to not only have friends behind him but have the power to stand up for himself. Not everyone was like him and his conscious wouldn’t be settled if he walked away pretending it didn’t happen. So of course, Sirius went into the confrontation guns blazing tell the older kids to fuck off but the altercation went a little south. Going in three against one really didn’t turn out in his favor but he managed to get them to leave that poor kid alone.

Now, him being the man he was, Sirius didn’t want to go to the hospital wing for this. He didn’t want to get another detention for staring a fight and just go down the long path of trying to call out all the kids he had ‘messed’ with. It was just an even worse idea to get adults involved. Now he just needed a little help cleaning up. “Do you think you can help me out a little with my situation?” Gesturing to his face as he spoke, that cocky grin was still splayed there even with the injuries to his face.

Marlene had been lounging in the common room, trying to decide if food was a good enough reason to get off the best couch she’d stolen from a couple of first years or not. On one hand, she was starving and dinner had been hours ago, and the house elves always had the best snacks at this time of night. But on the other hand she was comfortable and the first years were still eying her couch.

“Oi,” Marlene snapped back, trying to pretend the sudden voice in her ear hadn’t made her jump at all. “Maybe you shouldn’t sneak up on people if you want them to do you a favor.” She could hear the grin in his voice, which usually meant that he’d been up to something and was proud of the outcome. And Marlene wasn’t even sure she had the energy to deal with this right now.

“Your situation,” she echoed back, giving up her internal argument about whether or not to just leave him there and suffer and finally turning so he was at least in her peripheral vision. The sight of blood should have shocked her but after years of knowing Sirius there wasn’t much he could do that could concern her that much. “You’re sure you want to fix it, you look more rugged and tough this way.”

But even as she was saying it, Marlene’s hand was moving towards her wand to fix it. That much blood couldn’t be good and both of them knew that Sirius was too vain to let this stay. “I feel like I should be asking you who pissed in your cereal but they probably deserved it is going to be your answer, and I’m too tired and hungry to really care.” Her hand finally got a hold of her wand as she turned to fully face him. “Just tell me it wasn’t a first year.”
