Hi everyone! I'm opening 10 slots of emergency commissions in order to make a housing deposit by April 1st. The following slides are samples of the type of commissions I'm doing. My stepdad passed away last year in September. It was very sudden and traumatic, and my mom wasn't doing well so since then I've been living with her in Kentucky, otherwise she would've been entirely alone. We've been looking for places in California to move in to for months, but since we lost my stepdad's income it was incredibly difficult to find anything in our budget. At the end of February, we finally found a place that was very forgiving of my mom's situation, but she can't cover the deposit for my sister and I on her income alone.
As someone with a mixed immigration status, making art is the only way I'm able to generate income. In the past I have used sparse freelance work and scholarship money to pay for rent but it's almost depleted. @buildingpressco has also been a great support, and even though we had launched while I wasn't in SoCal it's been difficult to keep up social media for it remotely not only because I can't access my inventory, but also due to my mental health and grieving the loss of my dad.
But my family and I have found a trustworthy place to live, so I need help securing it.
