Strengths and Weaknesses
I am an enthusiastic entrepreneur in the hospitality industry. I know that I have some strengths that I should learn to optimize and some areas that I can improve on.
I would start by acknowledging that I am relatively new to the country and therefore do not necessarily have as clear and deep understanding of the micro economic landscape as someone that have grown up here or went to secondary institutions in Canada, that is why that is one of my focus areas and areas that I try and educate myself and real a lot about. I know that I can also be impatient with certain aspects of business development and that I need to learn to work with the systems even though they might be different from the systems that I am use to. Like licensing, approval, payment structure etc.
I come from the hospitality industry in South Africa which where I got most of my experience in the industry but also as an entrepreneur. I believe I have exceptional interpersonal and sales skills that I have perfected as a business owner in South Africa. I have learned to be well organized to ensure the smooth running of my operations. I have also learned through experience that Intense financial planning and forecasting is the essential building block of any start-up and that you can never learn or read and adjust enough on this topic.
The key is to know that you have never learned everything and that you can learn from ANYONE.
