â MARILYN MONROE in SOME LIKE IT HOT (1959)
happy birthday ïŒïœïœïœïœïœïœ  ïŒïœïœïœïœïœ // june 1, 1926 - august 5, 1962 // âi sometimes feel as if iâm too exposed. iâve given myself away, the whole of me, every part, and thereâs nothing left thatâs private, just me alone. if you feel low, you might worry that thereâs nothing new to give. but thatâs not true â not ever. you discover things inside yourself you never knew were there. you always go on developing.â

Happy 100th Heavenly Birthday to Marilyn Monroe đ

Marilyn Monroe photographed at Fox Studios by David Cicero, May, 1947.
Marilyn arrived to Beatonâs suite with only a simple black dress and a white puffy evening gown. Ed Pfizenmaier, Beatonâs assistant, said that Marilyn took care of her own make-up âwhich most people, they canât believe it nowadays ⊠she came just by herself, with these two little dresses and ⊠it was as simple as that.â Beaton added a few props: an artificial Bluebird, flowers, and scarves. He provided the unique backgrounds, as heâd actually redecorated the suite himself in what he called a âJapanese Nouveau art mannerâ. Beaton himself described Marilynâs method as subject of the session: âThe initial shyness over, excitement has now gotten the better of her. She romps, she squeals with delight, she leaps onto the sofa. She puts a flower stem in her mouth, puffing on a daisy as though it were a cigarette. It is an artless, impromptu, high-spirited, infectiously gay performance. It may end in tears.â His diary entry read: âShe was the greatest fun.â Pfizenmaier said âI found her just a delight to work with, we just had a magnificent time.â (x)
